A restaurant I worked in about 15 years ago, opened a box of eggs, it was the 2nd or 3rd flat, 16 out of 30 eggs were double yokers. It made for one of the best days

When I was a kid (mid 80s) we got an egg carton that was completely double yolks. Every single one! I can only assume they were pulling them out of the normal packing line into a separate cartoon, and somebody accidentally packed it up and sent it out for normal retail sale. I haven't seen a double for well over 20 years now, though, and I eat a lot of eggs. I guess the back end processing system has gotten better at filtering them out.

i always thought it was weird that people talked about these like it was rare, because I used to get them all the time, even had a carton once that had 8/12 double yolks. Haven't had a double yolk in a long time now though. Dunno why the eggs we used to get were so commonly double yolks. Maybe because they were really large eggs.

Industrial chickens rarely get life conditions that are good enough for double yolk. When one of my chickens stopped laying due to stress, they got supplement in their water. The stressed chicken started laying again, and the non-stressed one gave double-yolked eggs.

Buy jumbo eggs and you are virtually guaranteed of getting a double yolker every few cartons. You can tell from the shape. Sometimes the whole dozen is double yolkers. This is factual. We only buy jumbo eggs and on Sunday 2 of 4 were double yolkers
