My daughter is doing this for the first time. She appreciates that she isn't alone.
For some reason, my brain just automatically presumed you were a man. I'm going to jump to conclusions and now say you're a mom.

My period is way past due date, and i'm starting to worry that something happened. the last time i had sex was on the first day of 1/2
2/3 bleeding(last period) and he pulled out before there was even precum. i don't think i've ever had a period this late before and i've
3/4 never missed a period before and my dad's starting to worry too, and when he asked me if i was still a virgin this morning while i was
4/5 half asleep, i accidentally told him about my rape(didn't plan on telling him) and i'm scared that i'm pregnant and i just ordered a med
5/6 that would encourage menstruation(miscarriage if baby) and i'm scared because the guy i slept with and i aren't dating anymore and i
6/? don't want him to be stuck with me and i can't support a child and he can't support a child and i'm pro-life and i'm just 19 and i'm

One time I didnt realise i started so my bf and i were gonna do stuff and then he saw lots of blood and immediately had a panic attack. Awk.

This is currently my uterus. Cramps were so bad I was nauseous& couldn't move til I took some aspirin, acetaminophen & caffeine. Bloody hell
ninjadick24
This would be funnier if I wasn't a week late .....
Showhermyoface
It's that time for my wife. Should I send these to her? She'll find them funny right?
tangybreath
Well they would be make laugh on my period. Just make sure to gauge her mood first :)

This isn't even the worst of it. My uterus presses against my rectum when I get cramps so I feel like I have to painfully poop for a week.
DeathsDeathOfRats
Me too! And it feels like I need to pee all week as well.
StepRightUp
Serious tip (I had similar probs), try taking IMODIUM (basic OTC antidiarrhea pills) for your cramps. Works GREAT on mine!!! Hope it helps!

I've never related to anything more...."what nice new panties you have on... it would be a shame if something were to...happen to them"
Peroxide is your friend. It's not 100% but it has a pretty high success rate for getting blood out of clothes.
TheGhostOfFutureDisappointments
The sooner you use it the better. Also, cold water helps get the blood out.

I never bought pregnancy tests . just pretty new panties. .. Nope. Not pregnant
And men think we have black knickers because they're sexy.

Buy the Thinx underwear. Amazing
NiteFury
How does it really work? The description isn't very good. Is it just cotton in the bottom piece?
Absorbing material. Antimicrobial. No leaks. Very good construction. Does not feel like a diaper or strange.
All around the world women are googling Thinx underwear at this very moment
Taxicat
There's some kind of "Female Menstruation Calendar" app for the iPhone (not sure about other phones). Very helpful for predicting 1/
exactly when your period's going to start, because you can go through and see the pattern of when (and how severe) it starts each month. 2/
IGoodSurgeonZeBest
Those are good, but unfortunetly a lot of women aren't exact, a cousin of mine would go 2 months w/o a period!!
I'm not always exact, either. My cycle's swung from 25 days all the way to 32, but it's at least helpful to know when to start wearing 1/
"just in case" panty liners. And it's useful for spotting patterns that one might not have noticed before. 2/

Im a 22 year old guy and this post just taught me why periods happen. Our education system is a failure
My health teacher in high school described the process as "like a self-cleaning oven."
Septagon
I think this tells us a lot more about you actually.
Right? I had no idea he was a 22 year old dood!
KeatonTS
I know the system is bad but if you just now found this out, then maybe it needs to be a two way road... i knew this shit since 3rd grade
I've never had a serious relationship long enough to need to know this
You dont really need to be in a relationship to know
Not much point to learn it by myself being a guy tho
The point is, that you learn it in class whether youre a guy or not. Even if you dont care about it, its something you vaguely remember.

here in NZ we learned all this stuff in year 9 (so 9th grade I think).

I didn't transition, but I feel you on the "no more uterus" relief. I had a full hysterectomy. Less estrogen, fewer mood swings, no period.
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
My sister wants one. She is 100000000000000% certain she doesn't want any demon spawns.
I had to search for a GYN who would give me one at 34. Them: "You might change your mind!" Me: "I won't." And I haven't!
Our family doctor her told her wait until she's 30. She's 24 and hasn't changed her mind in 3 years. She's very happy being an auntie and
Mother to her fur baby. We do tradies a lot and visit each other solely to see the kids or dog.
I was 28 when I got mine... 7 years later, no regrets. It DOES result in difficulty losing weight. I gained 30 lbs in 3 months after mine.
My metabolism came to a grinding halt. I've taken most of it back off, but it's a lot more difficult now than it was before hand.
PuellaSilentii
Did you just get one or did you have a medical reason to get it removed? Where do you live, I want one.
I live in north Missouri, I had severe endometriosis.
rossalupus
Had?

It can be removed. I have lots of friends who'd sign up for that immediately if it was economedically feasible. (So bad are period pains)

9 months of bleeding.......oh dear lord why are we made this way
Have you seen a doctor? 9 months are a lot
9months of bleeding? My son is 6 months still no period after the initial after birth ordeal

Honestly? Because we stood up. When homosapiens became erect, it caused a shit ton of problems in reproduction.

BattyWhack
For me, pregnancy was awful and the c section and everything else was a walk in the meadow in comparison. It's not that bad really
Compared to most people I've had "easy", I went through the first trimester without really knowing! (there are lots of reasons why tho)
archirat
It's called lochia, itll pass. It was the sleep deprivation and hormone shift that was the worst.
beezleblub
Awww, me too! October 24th here I come!

October 16th! :)
I'm Oct 22nd!
skelekittycat
That's my birthday. So it's clearly the best day to have a baby. Oct 24 babies are awesome :D
Is it bad that I'm hoping to be overdue and make it to Halloween?
Nope they say the longer the baby stays in( to a point) the calmer they are outside
Can confirm, had baby yesterday. You think menstrual cramps are bad? Try "shrinking back into place" cramps. Lord forbid the baby cries.
Congrats! I just recently started feeling "ok" almost 8 weeks later. FUN!
Make it to 3 months n you are golden! Mine just hit 6 months
I can't wait lol. Longer sleep time and all of that!
Seriously! But sleep regressions hit like a rock!
verlonica
Oh yeah. And breastfeeding made my cramps worse! I've had 3 kids and the 6weeks after birth were the worst! The breastfeeding wasn't so bad.
The first 6 weeks are hell
MaRask
Yup breastfeeding helps the uterus contract back to normal shape.
AyoSis
Oh god I'm only 15 but I really don't want to have crotchgoblins. I also have a VERY severe needle phobia so childbirth ain't gonna be fun
You don't need to have needles when you have children. BIllions of women do it, all over the world. Childbirth isn't a medical procedure.
Oh my god crotchgoblins! Thanks for the laugh!
Believe me, when you are in pain for hours or days you don't give a fuck about phobias. At least 12 strangers have seen my 1/2
vagina and I'm a woman that is to afraid to go to the gyn because I dont wanna spread my legs in front of a stranger. I didn't care
abount anything. I would have cuddled with a big ass spider if they told me it would help getting it done.
Congrats on the sex, enjoy the 6-week free pass (and the consolation prize!)
Ah the gift that keeps giving. Thank you.
Oh my god. And it gets worse with each baby. Just had my second and cried almost everytime I breastfed for the first 4 days.
Noo....I thought I was dying....I loved the iv drugs
Tubal tomorrow! Whoop whoop.
SpacePrincessPeach
...really oh shit i can be one and done, i hope
Im 37 weeks now and i fear this congrats on the baby you survived
The sucky parts are not what you will remember... Heck my kid is not even 3 yet and I had already forgotten about most of this
I'm 12 weeks and officially scared shitless.
Be brave!! You can do this!
Good luck in 3 weeks! :)
Protip: get the pain meds and the epidural BEFORE your water breaks if you can. That's a whole nother level of already overwhelming pain.
LvAllen
Also, if the pain doc fucks up, and you only feel numb on the left half of your body, get his/her ass back in there to do it right.
That shit sucks too! I had a good anesthesiologist this time! He stopped shopping mid lowes trip to come do mine. Awesome guy.
I will ask about swift drugs. im getting a c-section (weird shaped uterus+ baby has her dads massive head+ stuck breach) thanks for tips
Make sure you get a non crotch dangling baby carrier! Breached babies are more likely to develop hip dysplasia. Try ergo 360
DehDooge
PREGNANCY IS NOT BETTER THAN PERIODS, YOU MONSTER
Agreed. I hatred pregnancy
My pregnancy was freaking glorious, I've never felt better in my life until I reached 42 weeks in the heat of august, then I was done.
Me too! 1th trimester was a little rough but I was dandy until I swelled up like a balloon 1week before I popped!
Water retention!! Oh lord that reminds me of how itchy my toes were getting from being swollen :S
I am currently pregnant, apparently have had every bad thing happen to me symptom wise. I've landed in the hospital for days over 1/2
dehydration. Little one is healthy even though I've been crumbling!
I'm sorry to hear, I know some people have really tough pregnancies. Hang in there, it wont last forever!
sarah1047
wait. what?
seriously, I have an 8 month old, you are scaring me
MeridaIsMySpiritAnimal
I just asked my mom & she said it never happened to her, so I think it only happens to some women & not others
hismotherwasamudder
I think the bleeding they're talking about is the 2 weeks postpartum bleeding. My period was totally fine when I got it back 5 months after
Yea the pp bleeding is insane, glad to know it all goes back to normal after
chickieboomboom
Wish someone had told me that a few years ago, before I thought I was dying
tomyironmane
... you'd think some doctor would have warned you at some point.
N if you circumcised the baby, watching for adhesion should be taught!
NurseFeelgood
I thought they could at least scrape some of that shit out while I had my cesarean. Oh no, month long period and cesarean scar.
Fachera
I was prepared for the post partum periodgedom but alas the C-section and subsequent breastfeeding withheld the red tide for 16 months.
You bf for 16months?! This is a goal to reach! How did you deal with teeth?
Tot bit me only twice, my involuntary jump and *ouch!* made an impression and it did happen again, but it was the prelude to weaning.
We need a "shit they don't tell you about child birth" series. Someone start this!
ForSomeAbstractReason

YES PLEASE!! I wish someone would tell me this now before I have my baby!
Penguinsandbroadswords
I am a mom of 5, just found out pregnant again. Hubby vetoed getting the morning after pill when condom failed, thought pill was enough. 1/?
I know soo much. Your nipples get super soft while pregnant, toughen up when breast feeding, then soften again after. You will poop in 2/?
Front of someone. It's inevitable. When the hospital refers to your bottom, they mean your vagina. You have to write down all the pee 3/?
dontblinkdontevenblinkblinkandyourdead
If they give you the mesh panties TAKE THEM ALL. No use in obliterating perfectly good period panties.
BodaciousPony
Those mesh panties were life savers!
Or just skip them and go straight to adult pull-ups
Currently pregnant. I want this and am terrified of it simultaneously.
It's not that bad. My post pregnancy period was lighter than a regular one and all my pregnancy symptoms went away instantly so I was happy!
Good luck n congrats! Padsicles are a life saver! Make them before you go to the hospital. N nipple cream the kind that no need to wash off!
Also if they tell you to stop pushing stop...it's to prevent/minimize tearing
alwaysupvotingpallascat
Don't forget to breathe and don't think to much. Remember that the pain is not in vain and that your little one is working as hard as you

Same. It's really, really weird being on the pill and getting them regularly. To the point that I usually skip most months to feel 'normal'
Did they ever find out why you were missing them?
Nope - my mum and sisters are the same though, so I guess it's common in our family. Most annoying part is having no idea when it will start
Before I went on the pill I'd just be doing whatever and then suddenly it would be "oh, there's my period" - caused many a panic attack ><
AnnieBahde
AND NOONE TELLS YOU THIS! You think, hey at least I'm not having my period. Also, you can't use tampons so it's all gross and icky.

Foxxycosplays
Yeh my sister told me and I freaked out, I'm like nah no babies for me I'm good!
Seath45Blockland
Hm, my respect for women has grown tenfold
Boldeyes
As a woman: WAH! Nobody told me that!!! I like dogs...
Why can't you use them, if I can ask. Other than the obvious "I just pushed a human out of my vagina" thing.
The uterus isn't closed, objects entering the vagina can cause infection. Yes, even your dick.
Flyndaran
Cerivx doesn't "snap" back within a day or two? That sounds odd.
Cervix.
I think it's a worry about infection and also the volume of blood is intense. Plus they want you to look for clots.
Twinklepot
Plus you don't want ANYTHING going near that area for an extended period of time
animalrv
What's extended..?
If you have a c-section, you don't have to worry about any of that. They scrap that shit clean and you bleed for a day. A DAY!
ConstantReader
Lies!
rattlesnail
I bled 5 weeks after my c section, 2 weeks with my vaginal births.
severesocialanxiety
Definitely not true for me. After my c-section I bled for a month.
WentzofFoles
2 c sections. Definitely bleed a lot longer than a day.
That's crazy, I know 7 women who had c-sections in the last 3 years and they all bled for a day.
Lucky! I was 4 weeks with my 1st and 3 weeks with my last. 1st was emergency, 2nd was planned but I had my tubal then also.
That is a lie.
HotMagentaDuckFace
That was not the case for me. :-(
TiniestTurtle
Nothing against C-sections but the image of them scrapping away at my uterus seems more horrifying..
So I'm part of the 1%? I still had the staples and a hard ass recovery though.
Staples? They gave me a running stitch. The doctor snipped the thread and they pulled it out in one shot. Felt like a line of fire though.
Yup, I had stitches and staples but barely a scar! Staples were only for a few hours.
Nope my sister still had it.
ThatSoundGuyYouKnow
Yeah, not true. Wife has had two c-sections, one just last Friday, and she's still bleeding.
Unthinkable
For real !! I've had 3 sections
gen1er
Yeah I'd rather have another baby vaginally than have my abdominal wall completely sliced open
Morebetterer
Congrats on your new little buddy!
My sister did too.
Sorry to hear that, I bleed for 24 hrs. That's it.
imagirlimagirlsuckmydiOH
Yup, recovery from a C-section is not as easy as recovery from natural birth. Gotta take care of those stitches and not move around so much
[deleted]
Actually, to help heal, you have to stretch the muscles, ie walking. A lot if really slow walking.
Women die from natural childbirth, so I wouldn't say that is an absolute. But generally surgeries are not fun.
theurlfieldmustbelessthan63characterslongbitch
yea my mom didn't tell me, my friend who has 5 kids didnt, MY DOCTOR DIDN'T. i thought I was dying.
Peppermintpatty
This is the kind of shit that is important to know.
yea my doctor really apologized, and said he thought it would have been in my what to expect book. it wasn't!
I've read a couple pregnancy books and none have said that.
Bystandr
My Gf had a 48 hour labor and they didnt want to c-section.. when she finally gave birth , the baby tore her in a star pattern and she
nearly bled to death. she said it was the most pain shes ever had and shes had nasty injuries past. Took 4 units of blood to keep her alive.
Weird. Normally they're far too eager to cut them out.
JacksonsDaddy
Ladies, can I be blunt? My wife pulled a clot out of her the size of a baby's arm. I understand as well as any man's gonna. I'm sorry

I'm a lesbian because of this comment
Um, that's...not how it works?
I had like 3 the size of pong balls after having my 2nd baby. Shit's brutal.
I had rectal surgery such that recovering required using pads. Medication withdrawl causes mood swings and hot flashes/night sweats. I win.
DIAPERS are required for WEEKS after giving birth. Plus, your vag & rectum often become one. And no mood swings compare to pregnancy ones.
I hated that diapers so much. No matter what it felt like a big teddybear in your panties.
Watttttt
What the fuck!?
Oh yeah. There's "light" and "heavy" days. But then... there's "chunky" days
Jellylorum
Okay seriously ladies- if chunky is ongoing, GO SEE YOUR DOC! I almost died 7 months ago due to dysfunctional uterine bleeding/1

My period is way past due date, and i'm starting to worry that something happened. the last time i had sex was on the first day of 1/2

One time I didnt realise i started so my bf and i were gonna do stuff and then he saw lots of blood and immediately had a panic attack. Awk.
BusterWoIf
Is it almost Shark week already?
inchoatentropy
My periods were the worst until I got my hormonal IUD last year. Now I no longer get them!
ZoidbergIsGreat
Mirena is the best thing ever... I love mine.
annamalnomster
This is currently my uterus. Cramps were so bad I was nauseous& couldn't move til I took some aspirin, acetaminophen & caffeine. Bloody hell
ninjadick24
This would be funnier if I wasn't a week late .....
Showhermyoface
It's that time for my wife. Should I send these to her? She'll find them funny right?
tangybreath
Well they would be make laugh on my period. Just make sure to gauge her mood first :)
JosephMcCovery
They'll be so funny to her, she'll be laughing while chasing you with an aluminum baseball bat.
Nieon3
You made me laugh. Thank you.
ImaSithDuh
Hell, it's that time for me, just sent them to my BF to fairly warn him of my state today.
dungeonsandsnuggles
Ladies, raise your hand if you too are having the best week of the month. How many of us on here have synched up via the internet?
CardboardEmpress
Possibly one of the most terrifying things I've ever read! :D
TheDivineUsersub
BROTHER NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
flamingbaconeagle
Favoriting this for the exact same reason.
lordcaric
Same, I'm sending them to my wife, she'll laugh and not chase me around with an aluminum bat.
redrose073
It's that time for me and my husband sent me this. I laughed. It's funny and relatable.
witchykitchen
I find them funny and the cramps just started. Maybe I'm just not hormonaly charged enough yet
Unverified
Abort, abort!
MyOtherRideIsAChocobo
+1... I lol'd
honeywheresmypaaaants
Pun intended?
Andalite
Funny; that's my reaction whenever a girl i slept with tells me her period is late
smileATapoppy
Print them and wrap them around a good bar of chocolate
jkjk1123
YES
JustHereToUpvoteThings
Someone thought this through.
StripTheFleshSaltTheWound
This isn't even the worst of it. My uterus presses against my rectum when I get cramps so I feel like I have to painfully poop for a week.
DeathsDeathOfRats
Me too! And it feels like I need to pee all week as well.
StepRightUp
Serious tip (I had similar probs), try taking IMODIUM (basic OTC antidiarrhea pills) for your cramps. Works GREAT on mine!!! Hope it helps!
FluffyTurret
I've never related to anything more...."what nice new panties you have on... it would be a shame if something were to...happen to them"
StripTheFleshSaltTheWound
Peroxide is your friend. It's not 100% but it has a pretty high success rate for getting blood out of clothes.
TheGhostOfFutureDisappointments
The sooner you use it the better. Also, cold water helps get the blood out.
Akatsushi
This. THIS.
AngelSapphire
So much this, everytime they're the new ones -_-
applesapplesapples
I never bought pregnancy tests . just pretty new panties. .. Nope. Not pregnant
CardboardEmpress
And men think we have black knickers because they're sexy.
rather0od
Buy the Thinx underwear. Amazing
NiteFury
How does it really work? The description isn't very good. Is it just cotton in the bottom piece?
rather0od
Absorbing material. Antimicrobial. No leaks. Very good construction. Does not feel like a diaper or strange.
FluffyTurret
All around the world women are googling Thinx underwear at this very moment
Taxicat
There's some kind of "Female Menstruation Calendar" app for the iPhone (not sure about other phones). Very helpful for predicting 1/
Taxicat
exactly when your period's going to start, because you can go through and see the pattern of when (and how severe) it starts each month. 2/
IGoodSurgeonZeBest
Those are good, but unfortunetly a lot of women aren't exact, a cousin of mine would go 2 months w/o a period!!
Taxicat
I'm not always exact, either. My cycle's swung from 25 days all the way to 32, but it's at least helpful to know when to start wearing 1/
Taxicat
"just in case" panty liners. And it's useful for spotting patterns that one might not have noticed before. 2/
andy93h
Im a 22 year old guy and this post just taught me why periods happen. Our education system is a failure
JGthiccworth877THICCNOW
My health teacher in high school described the process as "like a self-cleaning oven."
Septagon
I think this tells us a lot more about you actually.
TheDivineUsersub
Right? I had no idea he was a 22 year old dood!
KeatonTS
I know the system is bad but if you just now found this out, then maybe it needs to be a two way road... i knew this shit since 3rd grade
andy93h
I've never had a serious relationship long enough to need to know this
KeatonTS
You dont really need to be in a relationship to know
andy93h
Not much point to learn it by myself being a guy tho
KeatonTS
The point is, that you learn it in class whether youre a guy or not. Even if you dont care about it, its something you vaguely remember.
xuvial
here in NZ we learned all this stuff in year 9 (so 9th grade I think).
DontDeadOpenInslde
When I had a uterus I imagined it yelling the entire week during my period. Just screaming.
SniffsMcgee
Glorious
rowingrowingrowing
Me, too! Screaming while stabbing me from the inside. Sooooo much happier with that fucker out!
MarijuannaMakesYouGay
like the sun in that one rick and morty episode? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E6d5j3qrss

*muffled screaming*
Melanisia
I didn't transition, but I feel you on the "no more uterus" relief. I had a full hysterectomy. Less estrogen, fewer mood swings, no period.
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
My sister wants one. She is 100000000000000% certain she doesn't want any demon spawns.
rowingrowingrowing
I had to search for a GYN who would give me one at 34. Them: "You might change your mind!" Me: "I won't." And I haven't!
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
Our family doctor her told her wait until she's 30. She's 24 and hasn't changed her mind in 3 years. She's very happy being an auntie and
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
Mother to her fur baby. We do tradies a lot and visit each other solely to see the kids or dog.
Melanisia
I was 28 when I got mine... 7 years later, no regrets. It DOES result in difficulty losing weight. I gained 30 lbs in 3 months after mine.
Melanisia
My metabolism came to a grinding halt. I've taken most of it back off, but it's a lot more difficult now than it was before hand.
PuellaSilentii
Did you just get one or did you have a medical reason to get it removed? Where do you live, I want one.
Melanisia
I live in north Missouri, I had severe endometriosis.
rossalupus
Had?
JoonasD6
It can be removed. I have lots of friends who'd sign up for that immediately if it was economedically feasible. (So bad are period pains)
DontDeadOpenInslde
I no longer have lady parts.

iamthedoctorthisismytardis
Grats on the transition.
GnowledgedGnome
Congrats!! I hope it's everything you wanted.
BusterWoIf
Still interested in men, or women now?
AGrammeIsBetterThanADamn
Sure, it gets better with pregnancy (FOR A WHILE), but eventually you have the baby. THEN YOU HAVE ALL THE PERIODS YOU SKIPPED, ALL AT ONCE.
AngelicIcefire
My mother didn't get her period for two years afterwards...
fairybug
Wait, what? I. . . what?
speakonlytruths
Ah yes, I like to refer to it as the SEA GATES OF HELL BREAKING LOOSE. 'Twas a fun postpartum bloody couple of hours...days...weeks...
oryngton
I swear... How do women even survive...
Amberdextrous
Please... I don't want to think about this as I go into my third trimester...
Dizzyvonblue
Mine turned 3 months today. Still no period, I'm just waiting for it to appear. Dreading it.
SoMenSayThatImIntenseOrImInsane
Some women don't get it the entire time they're breastfeeding. Not me, though. 3 weeks after the bleeding stopped, BAM! Period again.
sheanar
i was told breastfeeding might delay it a bit. Next. Fucking. Month. Didn't miss a beat. :/
Girlgerms21
Oh here's your baby by the way be prepared for 15 weeks of period that you missed
ClassicFumiko
And no one mentions taking a shit is SCARY AF after.
dandep24
This...
zoomball
I didn't poop for 3 days on purpose bc I was terrified of burst a stitch.
confuzzledtuna
Right! Feeling those stitches! N my vagina still feels a bit raw during sex! :( (6mts pp)
theUnicornsfearglitter
Every time someone mentions a fact about having babies it usually ends up on the "reasons not to have a kid" list.
FullMetalBitch
/a/xhn9e
Manse84
Two words: vaginal. Tearing.
OCD12345
12 stitches done after freezing wore off... Ouch.
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
You poor thing!
demobytom
I wondered why women decide to have 2nd kid.Discovery taught me that woman's brain is programmed to soften the memory of pain and suffering.
MamaFrey
Because it's awesome! It's kinda like getting a tattoo. It hurts and takes hours but you have something beautiful for the rest of your 1/2
MamaFrey
life. At one point you want another tattoo beacuse it looks and feels awesome and so you do it again and are even more happy with two o them
FXTPD
The only reason I need to know about : They cost money.
KalmiaKamui
Literally every fact about babies is a reason not to have them.
MissPeabody

PLUS a baby...
mackerdoodles
I just found out I'm pregnant. Reading these comments... I'm terrified now.
FaceOfBeaux
Congrats!!
zoomball
Don't worry. Just bc it's not common knowledge doesn't mean it's uncommon. We're built for it. It's shocking/unexpected but not too horrific
hippoSLP
Congrats! I'm 12 weeks and also terrified after reading these comments. We'll get through this!
mackerdoodles
Congrats to you too! We got this!
confuzzledtuna
Congrats! I almost died giving birth!
mackerdoodles
That is not a comforting thought... Glad you made it through!
DemonKiller44
9 months of bleeding.......oh dear lord why are we made this way
MamaFrey
Have you seen a doctor? 9 months are a lot
confuzzledtuna
9months of bleeding? My son is 6 months still no period after the initial after birth ordeal
lolalupe
Honestly? Because we stood up. When homosapiens became erect, it caused a shit ton of problems in reproduction.
DemonKiller44
Yeah there are a lot of problems when I become erect...but I don't like to talk about it (PS nice information thank you)
Taxicat
Efficient bipedal walking, big smart brains, safe easy reproduction. Pick two.
therearenotenoughusernames
what has the last two? I want to be that.
pjplatypus
I'm guessing dolphins
Taxicat
I have no fucking clue.
KawaiiPotatoGirl
EVERY TWO WEEKS A WATERFALL OF BLOOD LIKE A CRIME SCENE FOR A YEAR!!
ambisean
I'm 17 weeks pregnant and reading these comments has freaked me out... good to know though.
itsybitsyspider
I don't even know if I ever want kids now ;-;
BattyWhack
For me, pregnancy was awful and the c section and everything else was a walk in the meadow in comparison. It's not that bad really
ambisean
Compared to most people I've had "easy", I went through the first trimester without really knowing! (there are lots of reasons why tho)
archirat
It's called lochia, itll pass. It was the sleep deprivation and hormone shift that was the worst.
beezleblub
Awww, me too! October 24th here I come!
silencewillfallwhenthequestionisasked
October 16th! :)
ambisean
I'm Oct 22nd!
skelekittycat
That's my birthday. So it's clearly the best day to have a baby. Oct 24 babies are awesome :D
beezleblub
Is it bad that I'm hoping to be overdue and make it to Halloween?
confuzzledtuna
Nope they say the longer the baby stays in( to a point) the calmer they are outside
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
Can confirm, had baby yesterday. You think menstrual cramps are bad? Try "shrinking back into place" cramps. Lord forbid the baby cries.
dandep24
Congrats! I just recently started feeling "ok" almost 8 weeks later. FUN!
confuzzledtuna
Make it to 3 months n you are golden! Mine just hit 6 months
dandep24
I can't wait lol. Longer sleep time and all of that!
confuzzledtuna
Seriously! But sleep regressions hit like a rock!
verlonica
Oh yeah. And breastfeeding made my cramps worse! I've had 3 kids and the 6weeks after birth were the worst! The breastfeeding wasn't so bad.
confuzzledtuna
The first 6 weeks are hell
MaRask
Yup breastfeeding helps the uterus contract back to normal shape.
AyoSis
Oh god I'm only 15 but I really don't want to have crotchgoblins. I also have a VERY severe needle phobia so childbirth ain't gonna be fun
CardboardEmpress
You don't need to have needles when you have children. BIllions of women do it, all over the world. Childbirth isn't a medical procedure.
MamaFrey
Oh my god crotchgoblins! Thanks for the laugh!
MamaFrey
Believe me, when you are in pain for hours or days you don't give a fuck about phobias. At least 12 strangers have seen my 1/2
MamaFrey
vagina and I'm a woman that is to afraid to go to the gyn because I dont wanna spread my legs in front of a stranger. I didn't care
MamaFrey
abount anything. I would have cuddled with a big ass spider if they told me it would help getting it done.
AGrammeIsBetterThanADamn
Congrats on the sex, enjoy the 6-week free pass (and the consolation prize!)
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
Ah the gift that keeps giving. Thank you.
Dizzyvonblue
Oh my god. And it gets worse with each baby. Just had my second and cried almost everytime I breastfed for the first 4 days.
confuzzledtuna
Noo....I thought I was dying....I loved the iv drugs
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
Tubal tomorrow! Whoop whoop.
SpacePrincessPeach
...really oh shit i can be one and done, i hope
SpacePrincessPeach
Im 37 weeks now and i fear this congrats on the baby you survived
MaRask
The sucky parts are not what you will remember... Heck my kid is not even 3 yet and I had already forgotten about most of this
hippoSLP
I'm 12 weeks and officially scared shitless.
SpacePrincessPeach
Be brave!! You can do this!
hippoSLP
Good luck in 3 weeks! :)
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
Protip: get the pain meds and the epidural BEFORE your water breaks if you can. That's a whole nother level of already overwhelming pain.
LvAllen
Also, if the pain doc fucks up, and you only feel numb on the left half of your body, get his/her ass back in there to do it right.
ImMrsMeeseeksLookatMe
That shit sucks too! I had a good anesthesiologist this time! He stopped shopping mid lowes trip to come do mine. Awesome guy.
SpacePrincessPeach
I will ask about swift drugs. im getting a c-section (weird shaped uterus+ baby has her dads massive head+ stuck breach) thanks for tips
confuzzledtuna
Make sure you get a non crotch dangling baby carrier! Breached babies are more likely to develop hip dysplasia. Try ergo 360
DehDooge
PREGNANCY IS NOT BETTER THAN PERIODS, YOU MONSTER
BattyWhack
Agreed. I hatred pregnancy
MaRask
My pregnancy was freaking glorious, I've never felt better in my life until I reached 42 weeks in the heat of august, then I was done.
confuzzledtuna
Me too! 1th trimester was a little rough but I was dandy until I swelled up like a balloon 1week before I popped!
MaRask
Water retention!! Oh lord that reminds me of how itchy my toes were getting from being swollen :S
DehDooge
I am currently pregnant, apparently have had every bad thing happen to me symptom wise. I've landed in the hospital for days over 1/2
DehDooge
dehydration. Little one is healthy even though I've been crumbling!
MaRask
I'm sorry to hear, I know some people have really tough pregnancies. Hang in there, it wont last forever!
sarah1047
wait. what?
sarah1047
seriously, I have an 8 month old, you are scaring me
MeridaIsMySpiritAnimal
I just asked my mom & she said it never happened to her, so I think it only happens to some women & not others
hismotherwasamudder
I think the bleeding they're talking about is the 2 weeks postpartum bleeding. My period was totally fine when I got it back 5 months after
confuzzledtuna
Yea the pp bleeding is insane, glad to know it all goes back to normal after
chickieboomboom
Wish someone had told me that a few years ago, before I thought I was dying
tomyironmane
... you'd think some doctor would have warned you at some point.
confuzzledtuna
N if you circumcised the baby, watching for adhesion should be taught!
NurseFeelgood
I thought they could at least scrape some of that shit out while I had my cesarean. Oh no, month long period and cesarean scar.
Fachera
I was prepared for the post partum periodgedom but alas the C-section and subsequent breastfeeding withheld the red tide for 16 months.
confuzzledtuna
You bf for 16months?! This is a goal to reach! How did you deal with teeth?
Fachera
Tot bit me only twice, my involuntary jump and *ouch!* made an impression and it did happen again, but it was the prelude to weaning.
hippoSLP
We need a "shit they don't tell you about child birth" series. Someone start this!
ForSomeAbstractReason
http://www.babble.com/pregnancy/8-things-i-wish-id-known-before-my-wifes-c-section/#scrub-768x576

YES PLEASE!! I wish someone would tell me this now before I have my baby!
Penguinsandbroadswords
I am a mom of 5, just found out pregnant again. Hubby vetoed getting the morning after pill when condom failed, thought pill was enough. 1/?
Penguinsandbroadswords
I know soo much. Your nipples get super soft while pregnant, toughen up when breast feeding, then soften again after. You will poop in 2/?
Penguinsandbroadswords
Front of someone. It's inevitable. When the hospital refers to your bottom, they mean your vagina. You have to write down all the pee 3/?
dontblinkdontevenblinkblinkandyourdead
If they give you the mesh panties TAKE THEM ALL. No use in obliterating perfectly good period panties.
BodaciousPony
Those mesh panties were life savers!
hismotherwasamudder
Or just skip them and go straight to adult pull-ups
silencewillfallwhenthequestionisasked
Currently pregnant. I want this and am terrified of it simultaneously.
BattyWhack
It's not that bad. My post pregnancy period was lighter than a regular one and all my pregnancy symptoms went away instantly so I was happy!
confuzzledtuna
Good luck n congrats! Padsicles are a life saver! Make them before you go to the hospital. N nipple cream the kind that no need to wash off!
confuzzledtuna
Also if they tell you to stop pushing stop...it's to prevent/minimize tearing
alwaysupvotingpallascat
Don't forget to breathe and don't think to much. Remember that the pain is not in vain and that your little one is working as hard as you
alwaysupvotingpallascat
Oh! And you will shit yourself! I wish you a fast delivery and a happy healthy baby!
hippoSLP
Lol gee thanks!
HopelessHatter
I get mine like twice a year and no one knows why!
theGoldenTrashbag
Lucky bitch
Lineypi
Same. It's really, really weird being on the pill and getting them regularly. To the point that I usually skip most months to feel 'normal'
HopelessHatter
Did they ever find out why you were missing them?
Lineypi
Nope - my mum and sisters are the same though, so I guess it's common in our family. Most annoying part is having no idea when it will start
Lineypi
Before I went on the pill I'd just be doing whatever and then suddenly it would be "oh, there's my period" - caused many a panic attack ><
AnnieBahde
AND NOONE TELLS YOU THIS! You think, hey at least I'm not having my period. Also, you can't use tampons so it's all gross and icky.
MissPeabody
....w.whattt
Foxxycosplays
Yeh my sister told me and I freaked out, I'm like nah no babies for me I'm good!
Seath45Blockland
Hm, my respect for women has grown tenfold
Boldeyes
As a woman: WAH! Nobody told me that!!! I like dogs...
iamthedoctorthisismytardis
Why can't you use them, if I can ask. Other than the obvious "I just pushed a human out of my vagina" thing.
AGrammeIsBetterThanADamn
The uterus isn't closed, objects entering the vagina can cause infection. Yes, even your dick.
Flyndaran
Cerivx doesn't "snap" back within a day or two? That sounds odd.
Flyndaran
Cervix.
AnnieBahde
I think it's a worry about infection and also the volume of blood is intense. Plus they want you to look for clots.
Twinklepot
Plus you don't want ANYTHING going near that area for an extended period of time
animalrv
What's extended..?
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
If you have a c-section, you don't have to worry about any of that. They scrap that shit clean and you bleed for a day. A DAY!
ConstantReader
Lies!
rattlesnail
I bled 5 weeks after my c section, 2 weeks with my vaginal births.
severesocialanxiety
Definitely not true for me. After my c-section I bled for a month.
WentzofFoles
2 c sections. Definitely bleed a lot longer than a day.
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
That's crazy, I know 7 women who had c-sections in the last 3 years and they all bled for a day.
WentzofFoles
Lucky! I was 4 weeks with my 1st and 3 weeks with my last. 1st was emergency, 2nd was planned but I had my tubal then also.
StripTheFleshSaltTheWound
That is a lie.
HotMagentaDuckFace
That was not the case for me. :-(
TiniestTurtle
Nothing against C-sections but the image of them scrapping away at my uterus seems more horrifying..
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
So I'm part of the 1%? I still had the staples and a hard ass recovery though.
HotMagentaDuckFace
Staples? They gave me a running stitch. The doctor snipped the thread and they pulled it out in one shot. Felt like a line of fire though.
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
Yup, I had stitches and staples but barely a scar! Staples were only for a few hours.
Foxxycosplays
Nope my sister still had it.
ThatSoundGuyYouKnow
Yeah, not true. Wife has had two c-sections, one just last Friday, and she's still bleeding.
Unthinkable
For real !! I've had 3 sections
gen1er
Yeah I'd rather have another baby vaginally than have my abdominal wall completely sliced open
Morebetterer
Congrats on your new little buddy!
Foxxycosplays
My sister did too.
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
Sorry to hear that, I bleed for 24 hrs. That's it.
imagirlimagirlsuckmydiOH
Yup, recovery from a C-section is not as easy as recovery from natural birth. Gotta take care of those stitches and not move around so much
[deleted]
[deleted]
MotherflippersThinkEverythingIsAMotherflippingJoke
Actually, to help heal, you have to stretch the muscles, ie walking. A lot if really slow walking.
Flyndaran
Women die from natural childbirth, so I wouldn't say that is an absolute. But generally surgeries are not fun.
theurlfieldmustbelessthan63characterslongbitch
yea my mom didn't tell me, my friend who has 5 kids didnt, MY DOCTOR DIDN'T. i thought I was dying.
Peppermintpatty
This is the kind of shit that is important to know.
theurlfieldmustbelessthan63characterslongbitch
yea my doctor really apologized, and said he thought it would have been in my what to expect book. it wasn't!
Peppermintpatty
I've read a couple pregnancy books and none have said that.
Bystandr
My Gf had a 48 hour labor and they didnt want to c-section.. when she finally gave birth , the baby tore her in a star pattern and she
Bystandr
nearly bled to death. she said it was the most pain shes ever had and shes had nasty injuries past. Took 4 units of blood to keep her alive.
Flyndaran
Weird. Normally they're far too eager to cut them out.
JacksonsDaddy
Ladies, can I be blunt? My wife pulled a clot out of her the size of a baby's arm. I understand as well as any man's gonna. I'm sorry
MOLDYANALGLAND
I like dick now.
UltimaCaitSith
Thanks, I'm gay now.

Same.
FeralChicken
I'm a lesbian because of this comment
AtlasUnbound
Um, that's...not how it works?
verlonica
I had like 3 the size of pong balls after having my 2nd baby. Shit's brutal.
Flyndaran
I had rectal surgery such that recovering required using pads. Medication withdrawl causes mood swings and hot flashes/night sweats. I win.
zoomball
DIAPERS are required for WEEKS after giving birth. Plus, your vag & rectum often become one. And no mood swings compare to pregnancy ones.
MamaFrey
I hated that diapers so much. No matter what it felt like a big teddybear in your panties.
MissPeabody
Watttttt
itsybitsyspider
What the fuck!?
JacksonsDaddy
Oh yeah. There's "light" and "heavy" days. But then... there's "chunky" days

Uuuhhhhh, I HATE the chunky days
FeralChicken
I'm strongly questioning why I'm learning this from imgur and never learned this from my mom, doctor, or in the many health classes I took.
BlackBriarRose
"You're not having sex, why would you need to know anything about it?" - health teachers, because 'abstinence'
ssjalhazred
Because the subject matter is embarrassing so they're more concerned with appearing helpful than being helpful.
JacksonsDaddy
AS YOU SHOULD. I'm considering making an educational post about vagina-relater problems from a grown male's perspective
FeralChicken
As guys should know this as well...I'm a female with friends who've already had kids, and not ONE has mentioned this either.
