Nicholas Dale, Canadian pilot who died fighting US wildfires, please remember him.

Jul 21, 2026 1:34 AM

It's a shitty fire season around the world, and the men and women who put their lives on the line to fight these fires are heroes.

Our willingness to help reflects on our values and morals. How Trump responds reflects on yours.

Coming from Амэрика, I'm sorry for your loss Canada.

It's an impossible task. Wildfires in summer are unbelievably difficult to deal with.

Every year at my rez a large ground of first nations men and woman all go for their fitness tests, pass their certificates and get ready for another fire season every year. Every year I worry about getting this kind of news that one of ours is hurt or dies.

Hope this guys family are getting the support they need.

He's putting tariffs on hockey sticks. Fucking hockey sticks!

This is terrible, and not to make light of it but... I read that headline as the wildfire was identifying itself as Nicholas Dale.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, the wording is terrible.

We're dying for those ungrateful bastards and all we get are threats and tariffs. Fuck them. There's no reason we should help them anymore. Let them burn for all I care.

SW Coloradan here. Mr. Dale died in a reservoir fighting a fire not far away from me (The Gold Mountain Fire). For what it's worth, all of us around here were devastated to hear about what happened. When his body was being transferred to a funeral home, police and fire departments lined the roads along the way to pay their respects. The same thing happened today when his body was transported to Denver airport to be flown home. We respect and honor Mr. Dale and the sacrifice he made

I hadnt heard of this and Im Canadian. Thanks to those people from Colorado who recognized and honored this pilot.

There have been first responders all over the state showing respect. We are very thankful for the help and sorry for the loss

So do we get to charge America a few billion in tarrifs to compensate for this loss? Honestly I'm fine with it going directly to any family he had or charity he supported and not us as a country.

Of course not. It only ever goes one way.

Go ahead with your tariffs you sad loser. It's not like climate change denials have anything to do with Canada's wild fires. You stupid flat earth, rake your forests, dumb mu******ckers!

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Nah, we're all in this together. We're glad to help.

According to maga he is a sucker and a loser. Worst kind cause he also had empathy.

Goddamn what a horrible way to die

His name is Nicholas Dale

There's a video of it. The helicopter's tail rotor blades go into the water a bit which breaks them off, and as a result the helicopter immediately spins out of control and hits the water

I've seen that video and I didn't realize it was him 😑

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean i guess I'm assuming it's him because of the timing

this is what we need drones for, these kind of jobs are so abyssimal deadly if you make one tiny mistake.

The Super Scoopers freak me out, you're simultaneously picking up speed for takeoff while also increasing weight every second. The engineering must be pretty solid because the videos look absolutely nerve wracking

Canada should cease all firefighting support based on the comments and new tariffs announced by the demented-in-chief Cheeto.

The US needs to be completely isolated. Don't let their people in your country or out of theirs. Turn them away at customs or the border. Cease all imports from the US. Block American IP addresses. Cut the country off completely from the rest of the world. Maybe THAT will finally get the people in this country to realize they've had enough.

Fuck you pal, we let in who we like. Just cause you guys are all jacked up on Russian psyop doesn't mean we are gonna start acting like you.

See us canadians believe human beings should be helped. Regardless of the stupidity of their national leadership.

1 week ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

That and just close the damn borders to non citizen entry. Mexico should do the same.

1 week ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 6

Destroying your own country to grift others sounds very American at the moment.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

We would never. There are people in need, we will help. The petulant attitude and disrespect shown by their current regime will not stop us from acting like Canadians.

However try crossing the border to realize this 51st state nonsense and you will learn about the side of being Canadian that results in new ideas for the Geneva checklist.

Fits in with the whole backwards approach of their worldview

I hadn’t heard about this…. They even deployed their shake and bakes. Holy crap that is a horrible way to go.

The two survivors are never going to fully recover, either from their burn scars or the trauma. I cannot imagine what they had to hear going on around them when the fire overtook them.
