I work in the security and surveillance industry. It's pretty concerning what security solutions companies are creating with video and AI. Do a little research, particularly on those companies that are hiring psychologists so that they can train AI to analyze behavior observed on video camera and potentially automatically dispatch First responders if they think someone looks like they could get violent. Everyday I become more aware of what's being developed, and you should too

TIL there are enough license plates in children's gymnasiums to necessitate flock cameras

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So he got arrested and murdered right?!

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He knows who he's marketing to. No one involved in this is a good person. They can't be trusted to not use these tools to do the worst possible things.

Flock CEO is batshit insane on surveillance. Don't like flock? You're a terrorist now

Flock camera neutralization kit; a *saws-all* battery powered. A black hoody, face mask. A good one. 1/2 a dozen metal cutting blades. just in case. Dark *Blues Bros* sun glasses. Now, you're on a mission from God

Americans have shown how easily they let things slide. Most pedos feel safe now that nothing came of the Epstein list so expect more of this

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yep. Even the fucking Germans showed more back one in the 30s then Americans today. Complaining online is what they want you to do. Americans think online complaining and a peaceful weekend march is resistance and activism.

This is a letter to the editor piece, so there is zero verified context, for those asking.

It was supposedly for a "sales demo" too.

Is anyone actually surprised?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I kept getting complaints that every time the system was checked one CCTV camera was always moved to point at one corner of the gym and not providing a proper view of the space. It took way longer than it should have to find out one of the senior execs, in his 50's, was coming in early and moving it so he could sit in his office at lunchtime and jerk off to our 17 year old trainee doing yoga.

1 week ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Any proof? I mean I wouldn't doubt it can be true..I make it a habit to not believe most Twitter posts that lack evidence.

1 week ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 5

@op you could include this in a post edit.

That was a great idea, I realized after the fact the image was a little sparse of context

For some clarity on the "sales demo" part

Audit logs from the police network confirmed the Vice President bypassed the city's broader camera network to specifically view the live or recorded footage of the gymnastics facility.

Flock Safety and city officials defended the access as a "sales demo," claiming employees were using the footage to show prospective police clients the company's surveillance capabilities

1 week ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Two questions from someone who sells complex software systems.

1. Why does sales not have a dedicated Demo System they can access and show off?

2. Why the every living holy fuck does anyone in sales have direct access to live user data like that? Do they not have access security? Do they give credentials out like candy?

1 week ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Because they want power.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you missed the point that they are full of shit, b/c it doesn't make sense. This was a company VP who apparently has full access to the system not someone doing a sales demo. Kind of like Pete Townshend explaining that he had child pornography because he was attempting to expose a financial network linking international orphanages to British banks.

1 week ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Most benevolent explanation would be that he had a child in there and couldn't make it to an event.

Unlikely, but one can hope.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Still would be no excuse why to include it in a demo to be shown to others.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you missed my point that the company as a whole has a batshit insane system design that should be illegal to deploy in the first place...

1 week ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

1. They probably do have a demo system , they are full of shit and covering ass
2. This wasn't a sales person with access to the full system, it was a VP who most likely has full access to the system (and shouldn't)
I got you point and disagreed that this was a software system design issue. We have audit logs showing that a senior person is giving dumb ass excuses for their behavior and we aren't focusing on that person, we are talking about software system design.

1 week ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

They are mocking the same false bravado I've seen here for years. Americans are always "so furious" about this shit. Then you fuckers elect Trump again and watch people get shot in the streets and south American fishermen get butchered by drones. You rich lazy fuckers don't know the meaning of resistance. Complaining online is meaningless. If you are so angry then fucking do something about your shithole country.

Been hearing that for years now. Doesn't feel like solidarity when people like Biden and Obama get in and target us economically too. The Dems are no stranger to using us as a domestic punching bag if not as severely. How many year of organizing do you need while you fuck over the world?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Your dystopian nightmare is not my dystopian nightmare, these cameras are uniquely American, like the diarrhea problem.

The account is 14 years old, did you tap the name. Really it's more not a Pedo-Nazi energy.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Dude, the fuck are you talking about. There are flock cameras right now, in my city, not plate readers (also plate readers) but in parks, especifically to assist police against crime.

The city police has a program where they use the flock cameras together with whatever bussiness' and private homes' own cameras that volunteer to the participate. Granted, there is a lot of restrictions to prevent police from abusing it, but so what, the system for city wide surveilance is being put in place.

They said it was for a sales pitch to the police department. Showing what the cameras would help them see.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They know their target audience

4 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really the only question at the moment.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Nah, plenty of others. Like how apparently anyone high up from the company can just access any flock camera anywhere for personal use.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is a solid choice as well. I’m still worried about the kids.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do you think they are so cheap? Cause you're not the customer

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd put money on "to keep the children safe from predators"

For the pedos

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You know why. They know why. We all know why.

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

For pedophiles to watch children do gymnastics

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I mean, it's easy to imagine why an establishment would want a security camera there. Same reason you put one on a dark alley. If something happens, you want evidence.

Flock maybe is a shitty choice though.

1 week ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

Closed circuit

1 week ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That's ideal for a lot of reasons, but a lot of organizations don't want the overhead of maintaining a CCTV system, especially if they want a large number of cameras. It may not always be cheaper to outsource it, but it's a lot easier and usually shifts any liability surrounding missing footage to the vendor.

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Police state or spend a little more on cctv...hmmmmmmm

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you really need to ask?

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

in theory they are expanding to just be general purpose security camera system. like, there probably was a normal security camera in that room anyway

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A number of "Smart Home Security Cameras" come with cloud access and an app service to check logged footage or remote view your cameras from any online device. Flock has a partnership with a number of these services to access their services and data under the claim to cross reference their information networks.

So that community center that installed a networked cloud based security camera as a cheap option to protect the building didn't know that Flock could access it most likely.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well for the wealthy pedophiles in power of course!

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

pedophilia

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

probably for when no ones there, but because flock controls it. its main purpose is for this, to voyeur children. dont worry trump will make sure nothing happens to them for as long as he can. then the GOP will protect them.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thr vice president insisted

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think* access to the surveillance systems at the gym was handed over to flock. Not that they installed an LPR inside of the gym. Also not saying it makes it any less disgusting, just clearer. But I might be wrong.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

shshshshsh, you cannot just ask why the orphan crushing machine exists in the first place, thats heresy!

Ultimately, saying that you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different from saying you don’t care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say. Or that you don’t care about freedom of the press because you don’t like to read. Or that you don’t care about freedom of religion because you don’t believe in God.

It is not in the gym. Its Outside on a pole. He just pan tilt zoomed into the gym with the lenses. There would not be one in a private business.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 14

It is literally in the gym. Why did you make this up and post it as fact? https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/flock-safety-employees-watched-kids-181539475.html

1 week ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

"The community center agreed to share their cameras, including cameras in gymnastics rooms, pools, and fitness studios, with Dunwoody PD for emergencies." You would be correct. It was access to the private cameras.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 14

Okay troll, use your head and think about it. I won't insult you. I will just remind you to think about how a camera from flock would in up in a private school gym?

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Just so you know, calling someone a *troll* is insulting them. JFC did you not pass high school. or, worse, drop out? Me thinks someone else needs to use THEIR head...Open mouth, insert foot, fits here

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"License plate reader"

1 week ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Yes.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

In the same way your eyeball is a license plate reader, or your hand is a business card holder.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I never thought I’d see someone defending AI surveillance here on Imgur. But here you are.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The fuck are you taking about? You're in here pretending that Flock's panopticon is "a license plate reader" and you're angry at me? Eat shit. I hope the license plate reader doesn't peep on your kid's license plate while they're doing license plate gymnastics.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

they are not just license plate readers

1 week ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 3

POSIWID applies

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what Flock keeps saying they are. If that's not true, then they're guilty of false marketing.

1 week ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

But they don't say, "they're just license plate readers." You made that up.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are guilty of WAY worse things than false marketing...

1 week ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Well yeah. They're trying to build Big Brother. But False Marketing is something they might be able to be taken to court for.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I don't know about their ads (I'm not American and didn't know they had those, but apparently one ran during the SuperBowl with scandalous results?) But Wikipedia says that aside from reading plates (ALPR) they also do "video surveillance", and "gunfire locatoion". This was the surveillance.

Here's the cool part: the camera is owned (well, contracted to) the Marcus Community Center of Atlanta. It wasn't supposed to leak the center's data, but it did. To Flock. But why did they have the camera?

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or not. That news was from April, and this is from 2 days ago. If it did happen to 2 separate Dunwoody community centers, that would be MFing disgrace, tho

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

theres a constant stream of news about cops abusing these cameras, and long with flock employees.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(A source has been added to OP and
A. It is the same incident, but
B. It has been the catalyst for people digging deeper into the logs, and boy was it note the only one (it's usually stalking, not pedophilia, but that's like picking the least smelly poop to eat - let's not.) Hopefully the assholes go to prison for this. Every one.)
