I totally wanted to try this when I was in Cornwall but didn't find a place that sold it. Learned now - thanks for the research prompt! - that it's a seasonal delicacy served specifically for Dec 23 in Mousehole.

But the food is NOT why I go there, at least not the traditional English food. There are plenty of good places to eat in, say, London, but they serve food from elsewhere.
Fish and chips is a meal fit for the Gods when you get it from a proper fish n chippery, and they serve it fresh. Get some potato cakes in there as well, maybe a dim sim, you're fuckin laughing. That said, it's also capable of being the most bland, meh meal you'll ever eat if it's not appropriately crisped up and salted, and it's much MUCH worse if they are serving shit product. Source: Australian living an hour from the ocean and who misses access to halfway decent fish n chips.
