Years.

TLDR: fuck my work, good riddance. Quitting this place has made me happier than I can even remember being.

Work was always vomiting out to us the whole “we’re family! Taking care of our associates! Doing the right thing! We care about our associates! Your health and safety are our top priority!” Which was true up until the pandemic hit and all of a sudden it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to accomplish these things. They put up signs and a laser temperature thing but wouldn’t enforce shit, senior leaders wouldn’t wear masks, half the building of close to a thousand employees wouldn’t follow rules. Not to mention the building and operation itself was run like shit, very toxic, huge issues with the entire leadership team, people quitting left and right, getting told idk how many times right when I walked into work one of our coworkers died of COVID and still no changes at all.
It all came to a head when after dodging COVID for 2 entire years, the fucking holidays hit and omicron spread like wild fire. I stayed home as I have the last 2 years, I never go anywhere but home and work. Couldn’t escape this outbreak though. I’m triple vaxed but unfortunately I still got nerve damage from COVID. I already suffered from migraines, now I have occipital neuralgia and nerve issue that make it impossible to play games on my PC, gamer my whole life, it’s been a few months and it’s hard to not worry about it being permanent, hopefully it’s not and will improve over time. Im pretty sure I got it from work, and it’s hard not to blame them for my contracting COVID with their lack of enforcement of the safety rules and lack of care at all for the most part. There was only so much I could do to stay safe, unfortunately there was no way to avoid being around tons of people at times. My building had 300 employees right before the pandemic started and had been around that capacity for years, pandemic hit and they staffed up to just under 1000.

I’m glad to be rid of this place.

Occipital neuralgia & nerve damage sucks. Really takes a bite out of the whole quality of life thing. Wondering if workers comp can cover?

I quit a toxic job last year, and I took three months off to just recover and feel human again. Horrible. Horrible. Disgusting people.

I worked a soul crushing 5 years as a call center manager. The day I walked out and never came back was pure bless. At least I have stories.

I thought I worked for a great company (thanks for the bullshit testimonial, Forbes!) and every day I want to blow my brains out now.

Anyone who says "we're family" and calls you an associate isn't family

My SIL quit his job 2 weeks ago after lining up another job. He looks relieved all the time - a big deal for taking a pay cut to $15/hr.

This sounds like Amazon. I'm literally in a bathroom with those "installments" where their talking about the "wellness zone".

I did this in the fall of 2021. So, so freeing. I used to live the job, but understaffing and being underpaid was finally enough.

I left a hell on earth job for a warm fuzzy one and suddenly I'm a top performer, not a loser. Go figure.

I switched jobs 7 month ago and went from working 10-12 h a day, never knowing, when I get to go home, getting calls at 2 am to flexible 1)

Work from home in a great company. I am sleeping better, I have more energy and fuck yeah I am getting a puppy in 3 days. You go, boy/girl!

I've got the long-COVID fucky-wuckies, I feel ya. It comes and goes. At first I couldn't walk across a room and 1.5yrs later I can do stairs

And play videogames. Not gonna play twitch shooters any time soon, but RPGs are ok in short bursts. Hell, they even had long COVID people 2

At some marathon last year. There's huge variation between individuals. To be frank, if you haven't died of a stroke or a thrown clot 3/

Yet there's a good chance you'll improve. I also used a 3D printer to make a jig that lets me play my Switch one-handed when only 1 works.

I got a new job in July after wanting to quit after my wedding in Nov 19. I was lucky I didn't, but the day I told them I just broke down.

Quitting a toxic job can do wonders for mental health.

Employers doing the ‘family’ routine is a red flag to me now. I aim for ‘team’, ask which the organization identifies with in interviews.

"Doing the right thing! We care about our associates! Your health and safety are our top priority!" So, Walmart?

It’s all talk and no action.

That was my guess. They cancelled my mom's insurance two weeks prior to firing her without notice. She was out on covered medical leave.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: When I worked there like 5 years ago they were actually showing anti union stuff to us. That place sucked the biggest fattest dink

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Walmart ain't bad if your doing something like cart pusher, lots of excercise and nobody really bothers you unless they need carry out.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Lots of exercise is a downside in my lazy-ass opinion (lol) but if you enjoy it AND get paid, I'm not gonna complain!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Any of the big retailers really. I work in a distribution center.

Which one I work in one too

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did 11 years with Walmart - and it wasn't super terrible. I've just started cashiering at Home Depot and I like the feel a lot more.
