Republicans yet again picking fights with the wrong people and kicking the hornet's nest. First, it was Taylor Swift and now this. I really hope this isn't a strategy to have polls showing it is close and when it is a landslide Democrat win that it's used to lend credence to the election being stolen.
Facts and Details don't seem like they're all that important to the "Truth, Justice, and Family Values" party that is lining up behind the lying criminal who has been cheating on his third(?) wife... Weird...
Deliberate omission of contextually important information and usage of remaining information to portray a false narrative is called a Lie of Omission. They omitted the fact that disabled vets are exempt from PPT in Illinois, and portrayed Senator Duckworth as a tax dodger. So they did lie.
They did not make it up. It is 100% true. She did not pay taxes. The only problem with the reporting, is the exclusion of certain VERY IMPORTANT FACTS. Like, she isn't required to pay taxes because she is a disabled veteran. The inclusion of "democrat" in the headline is disingenuous and misleading, at best, because it has nothing to do with the taxes they pay, but makes for a catchy headline (especially for FOX viewers). So, it's all true. Just presented in a very specific (sketchy) way.
"Georgedragonslayer did not appear in court and wasn't charged with sexual assault of a donkey. He has not been reached for comment." True statements, sounds really bad.
It's weird seeing the Republicans shift away from being the party of the military. Apparently all it took was Trump saying he doesn't like losers and considers vets losers, and now they just openly shit on vets. I'm glad for it though, inevitably when coup two happens, it'll go just as badly for him.
You're confusing them being pro military industrial complex with being pro military/vets. The Republicans have been historically pretty shit twoards veterans as far as policies go. They either actively hinder programs and funding or have been entirely hands off in regards to our veterans. They've just realized they can now vocally shit on veterans on top of all the other shit they do.
Veterans shouldn't pay property tax at all in my opinion. The government owned their asses for however long their contract lasted. They shouldn't owe the government a tax for residing in their country

This is a good example of using a fact to lie by showing it in a certain way.

Remember, kids... The "i" in "Fox News" stands for "integrity".

Republicans and their mouthpieces don't give a flying fuck about veterans.

Unless it's a same sex fuck, the. They care a lot for some reason.

That is relevant information. Why would Fox News know that?
PostalHeathen
And I'm sure their defense would be 'we didn't lie'. -_-

I didn't say it was a *good* defense.

Oh, no they didn't! That woman is a saint!

She's the one who coined the pejorative nickname "Cadet Bonespurs".

realllly need laws that punish twisting truths that hide the actual reason of stuff.

Then some RW pundit will come along and say how "lucky" she is to not pay property tax...

Suck it, fox.

This headline would make a pretty decent social studies lesson.

Listen, they already give them them low interest home loans, think of the poor government/s

Did they know it? I'm not all that sure of their research and fact checking ability. Yes they lie all the time. But they are also dumb as hell.

C'mon. Let's not give them a pass. Not even this much of on, such as it is. It's not OK and borders on malicious what they're doing.
EroticZombiePants
Maybe not at first, but they hardly backtrack once the truth comes out anyway (at least until lawsuits start happening), so it doesn't really matter.
DeadeicPrints
Good point.

It's almost like a responsible news outlet would not put on such a one sided hit piece...

News ? I thought it was an entertainment channel. Why are they allowed to keep the 'News' title?
Thornaxe
IMO if you’re gonna use the entertainment defense on court it should lead to a reduction in the bar for a defamation suit.

Yes, but that defense was specifically for Tucker Carlson's show not the whole network and definitely not for their actual "news" broadcasts.

true, its totally fair to share the link you did, I just wanted to add some context.
