An oil platform in the middle of a stormy sea.

So much nonsense... i love it

Getting seasick watching this ?

Where does God go when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does the oil pipe stay hooked up?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mark Wahlberg was great in this movie

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Given the choice, I choose to work on the rig that the camera is on

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If everyone on that rig isn’t seasick I’d be shocked!! That’s a type of oil platform, without seeing the substructure I can’t nail it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wtf am I looking at?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The real one, or this horribly distorted video?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it a Weeble?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in 4k would be awesome

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Simply breath taking, would love to be on that thing smoking a corncob pipe screaming "THAR SHE BLOWS"!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who the fuck was the first person to look for oil down there

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice NSFW video!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So....their data center is on oil rig? ?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish people would post the non distorted original. This is warped to hell yo make it look scarier.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Which is why people post the distorted one for more points.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can’t even upload right now...

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Sorry, meant to add "For anyone curious about the original"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So instead of super stretched you did super speed?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oops, guess so. I just grabbed one off imgur that wasn't stretched. I didn't watch the speed.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that looks better

I couldn't hang

OP is clearly fake, you can see the distortion of the image. It's flipped from this too.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it's an MSM version of a normal situation.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's pretty evident that the OP is stretched vertically and flipped horizontally.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This looks way safer. Still scary

6 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

Now do it in a small boat. "North Atlantic Fisherman" is how you say "Fucking insane" in my book.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Those fisherman are made entirely of steel balls.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Which probably doesn't help when they go overboard.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

where the hell is this being filmed from that they have such a steady shot?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Could be from this https://youtu.be/ULvLeK9O7fY just a guess though.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still wouldn't join a research venture to the rig because crewmen were hearing strange noises resonating from the ocean subsurface.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Downvotes? You don’t want to know about weird sounds from the deep??

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I've seen enough movies to know most of the team will die!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That’s why I’d want to go for a research venture

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Anyone have the know-hows into how it flexes but remains in position?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

its bendy

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Many of them actually float and are secured with cables. https://images.app.goo.gl/RwXKKsaV1wFf7wLD8

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

You da real MVP.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Are they supposed to do that?

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yes? What would the alternative be, sinking?

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Best comment of the year, in the category of sarcastic laughter

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes and no. The video is stretched.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Okay this makes more sense. Far less terrifying

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Considering a human would be about 4 pixels tall in the “less scary” resolution - I still would need a change of shorts

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That would be a terrifying situation ?

6 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 1

Not as much as you would think.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

The real imgur hero.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Still looks pretty intense. That's a very large structure. Im sure it's supposed to move a lot but still pretty freaky.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good news is that this is a shipped video, the original, while still spooky, isn’t nearly as bad

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Where was it shipped to ?

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It was shipped to joe

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I did not receive it

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Joe mama

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it floating on the water?

6 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Not for long in this sea state!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Most of them are

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

always has been

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Always?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

kinda, its sitting on large pillars that go down to the seabed to keep them anchored above the drill but its floating and sliding on them

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

So does it float to prevent extra stress that might occur with the pillars if it were to be firmly rooted in?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Extra stress from the tides*

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most of them do not have pillars anymore, and instead rely on station keeping motors. If it had pillars, it wouldn't be moving at all

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

not really. Only near-costal rigs are actually mounted on pillars, and these are becoming ever rarer. That one is floating.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

But theres still an oil pipeline attached? How doesnt it snap with this tyoe of movement??

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The pump line is run into a stabilized moon pool, so just that part has a rather large tolerance for movement.
