So it turns out that Hydrogen Peroxide does more damage than good. Cause it kills all the nearby cells as well as any germs, thus making the wounds take longer to heal.
cyaton
As decontamination once initially, maybe. But wounds that need special treatment should be treated by professionals. Especially deep wounds or cavities. In case no help is present, I believe strong decontaminants like H2O2 or Antiseptics should be washed away after contact time with sterile saline to reduce cell toxic effects.
StormicusDeximus
Btw this is not recommended wound care. Hydrogen peroxide and alcohol both interfere with the healing process and I have personally gotten several infected wounds with this method. SOP is now to wash gently with soap and water and cover to keep dirt out. HP bursts cell walls and prevents scabbing (aka nature's bandaid) leading to an open wound instead of nice working white blood cells. Science people!

Isn’t this mostly just ripping off a bit from Stewie in an early Family Guy episode?

Had a teacher in high school that would mess with the freshmen on their first day. As soon her first class started she stepped out of this giant cabinet in her classroom claiming that’s where she slept and at the end of the last class she stepped back into it to go to sleep.

Coconut-water-sipping satyr! That got me lol
CheeseborgarSoop
The reason teachers used to not be allowed to interact with their students outside of school was due to it literally shattering their power dominance in the class room if students thought of their teachers as real people, and not authority figures. That practice ended decades ago, though.

to indulge a tangent: its been a little awkward having the same nickname for the past 25 years and then suddenly that word gets a different meaning

Doctors say hydrogen peroxide does more harm than good nowadays
Radix865
I've just used normal hand sanitizer I have for my cuts, no idea if it's good for me but it seems to be working.
lazyarmadillo
Good to know after being bathed in it for every mild cut and scratch my whole childhood 😂
cryborg
It probably saved you from infections but worsened your scars.
lazyarmadillo
Never thought of that but it checks out, tons of tiny scars everywhere
cryborg
I have a friend who is a doctor and specializes in household chemicals/environmental stuff. She told me H2O2 tears up everything that is organic including bacteria, viruses, and your skin & blood cells.
cryborg
She said people should use rubbing alcohol to disinfect minor scratches & cuts instead.
SoraHjort
Yep, kills the healthy cells that would help repair the area. Makes it take longer to heal.
Nostradamuswaswrong
Yeah, I always preferred rubbing alcohol. Unless I just wanted to see the fizzies.
xxPaulCPxx
I don't get the hurt though, I got the peroxide wound bath too, but it never hurt. Alcohol, on the other hand, turned my into Timothy.
cryborg
Often children's nerves are more sensitive. It stings to them.
StellaMatutina
I grew up with alcohol as the standard haha figured if it hurt me that bad imagine what it's doing to those damn germs daring to try and infect me!
lichtly
Yup, fantastic vid, but for real, don't use H2O2 on a scrape or cut. Saline solution or mild soapy water are best.
doesntmatter
Saline solution you say? *spits in wound*
hippocampus
Betaisodona is the way to go. It's a iodine solution for disinfecting wounds. And it doesn't sting. Unlike the alcohol based disinfectent my mom always used (that clearly wasn't for wounds. Thanks for teaching my how to not faint from pain mom.

I don't know why, it so stupid and insignificant but for some reason I had a hard time believing Nathan Lane was/is gay. I got in a tepid argument with a friend about this and my point of references were 'Mouse Hunt' and 'The Producers' (which just came out so just going to Wikipedia was not a standard just yet) and my friend garbs my face and shouts,'HE WAS ACTING' and it was like a curtain had finally fallen and I saw that the unicorn was just a horse with a sword in its head. Great actor
AwwFrick
Back when it was such a shocking thing for someone to be gay. I struggled with coming out and I graduated hs in 2008. Still took me another 8 years to be myself and to not view myself as anything other than normal. Not to undercut any one still figuring themselves out and scared of the family/friend reaction. Just that gen z really seen to be incredibly accepting and working with kids more recently it truly blue my mind

If you are a fan it's a must see. Williams and Lane vibe off each other like a couple that has been married 15 years & the humor is off the charts. I rarely give a movie 10 stars on IMDB. This is one of them.
Nykidemus
He is a fucking delight in that
