I get a lot of ads for Oreo products. Also on my phone if I play a little puzzle game here and there. I think Oreo said "hey just shove us in there if you have no data on the user, everyone likes us!" I honestly can't recall the last time I ate an oreo (or their ice cream treats), let alone bought any, but here we are.

I generally block ads, need to rebuild some firewall stuff. but many are location based. When I was traveling in the Midwest, I got Trump ads... not anywhere near an election season. Just "I'm doing such a great job!"

I've been seeing plenty of AI slop ads on Imgur recently for obviously fake weird products like novelty mugs that aren't physically possible. I don't understand how Imgur can sell ads on their platform without a human screening any of them.

it's.. not so easy. Imgur doesn't pick each ad, except for the big top screen page ads. The ad networks do. The problem is there's no money in ads hardly so any ad network that isn't catering to porn, gambling, and other scams isn't financially viable. Picking out good and bad ads for those companies is expensive to do, so a lot of slop goes through. The ad revenue model is very much broken, probably never was good.
