The retirement age is 65, but I don't think it's particularly Just to insinuate that people that are 65 are universally useless and incapable and shouldn't be *allowed* to work after that age. Age-ism is a thing in the work place and it's a bummer when it happens.

- Regarding "Trump is showing...", Trump showed significant decline 2016-20.
- Biden didn't really "step down", he literally campaigned for part of the 2024 run. That said, all the lazy people using that as an excuse not to vote, well guess what, you don't get to complain about Trump 2024-28, or possibly beyond.

I’m not as focused as I used to be, but I still have vast experience and knowledge. Biden on 4 cylinders is still pretty formidable. At a certain point, I’d rather have input and delegate, but for whatever reason, I am still far sharper than most of the people I work with. I’d like to retire before I die though, and enjoy a little leisure time first. I’m not interested in being the smartest and hardest working anymore. My wife, OTOH, is in cancer recovery, and seems much older because of it

I'm still baffled Biden didn't just step all the way down. Could have given this country its first woman President. The only explanation is they were so cocky they would win in 2024, they figured they'd use the fact she was running to be first woman President to their advantage. Any other job, if you said "I have cancer", no one would bat an eye if you needed to step back and focus on surviving.

Too many Americans didn't take voting seriously for way too long nor did they consider running for office. Civics education in the US has been abhorrent for several decades now. The ones who desire leadership positions should be the ones denied those positions as most have no interest in making the lives of average Americans better. Complacency and not being vigilant against selfishness, greed, and malice is why the US is where it is now.

While the premise of this is correct, sadly, retirement age, when you can draw retirement benefits without penalty, is being pushed back constantly. Even pilots are not required to retire at 65. I just turned 60 a few days ago. I won't be able to retire at 65 or 67 or likely not even passed 70 because we can not afford to lose my income.

I do look like one. But I do not live in the US. Nor Canada. Nor the Americas. All I see from here is, just as in many other places, people who are not voting are the only voices that should matter. I do not see this as a takeover, and I also think that if you look at it as if it were something you did not influence, then you are very likely to continue looking at it as if it were something you will never be able to influence. Which I believe is not only not conforming to reality, but also wrong

I can understand why you would think that. It's like talking about the back of your head. Something that, while fundamentally part of you, you will never be able to see yourself. Even with the help of other people or tools, you would still not be able to see what it actually is like, what everyone else sees. And I think it is good to be open to perspectives your mind instantly rejects, or at least be less rigid about them, because they might show you something you couldn't see otherwise.
