What an amazing movie. Having my 5'th run over the Monday coffee cup. Was back when Disney actually had talented people making we came to love.

Saw that recently for the first time, beautiful movie but it felt like missing something.
ThyOldKnight
Inspired to watch this for the first time from you post (It's in the internet archive, woo! :D) Top tier <3

Take out every scene with Martin Short’s character and it’s a perfect movie. It already had 2 comic reliefs: David Hyde Pierce’s character and the little floating goo guy. It didn’t need a third.

Released on 2002-11-27 in between Winnie The Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year on 2002-11-12 and 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure on 2003-01-21.
I collect VHS. Trying for all the Disney tapes although I doubt I’ll find em.

That is a worthy quest
Jimthebutler
I just saw a full set of vhs in a thrift store, like , most of the classics ( silent auction)
BeeAtPeace
I keep saying Disney could make boatloads just rereleasing this film now. Anyone who saw it before would love to see it on the big screen, and anyone who didn't know of its existence would likely love it.

Looks like Fable

for one fleeting glimps disney made perfect blend of 2d and 3d, propably one of most stunning visually movies of all time, and than they have deided to never do it again
textilelover
Well, they've decided never to pay for it again. Should they come across a way to exploit enough artists or twist AI into so it's cheap for them, they'll do it.
Filanwizard
They should rerelease this movie, its good fun and would probably do better than some regurgitating live action remake.
sithney
saw this for the first time last week. TREASURE PLANET FREAKIN' RULES!

I ship Captain Amelia/Jane Porter.

Unironically, one of Disney's best father figures.

Fuck Disney for burying this movie when it released.
mikeatike
And then pretry much ending 2d animation for a long time.
Skullwriter
I reviewed this movie! It suffered a lot from bad advertisement... It showed a lot of promise too, there was a sequel in the works before it was scrapped.
itsallaboutthecones
Saying there aren't talented people making the movies anymore is unfair and untrue.
ShadeMeadowsArt
Agreed!
innoxiosmors
Might be my favorite from that era. Emperor's New Groove is also peak.
slamEVIL
Those two and Hercules are my absolute favs.
Rogahar
I will never get tired of knowing that we got that glorious chaotic gold out of a project that started out aiming to make a musical historical epic like Prince of Egypt.
