I think this bares repeating this year and often, since some people forget that there is a holiday between halloween and saturnalia.
FP edit: 0.o holy shit. First time on FP and it's from this? Thank you lol. Send boobs or nudes I guess.
barf1189
Merry Christmas OP
rmsasquatch360
Don't blame the retail employee's blame the retailer.
firstofhisname419
And only 7 of which are in December.
AllIGotWasALousyTShirt
Just after midnight ONE 1/2 hour removed from Halloween I heard a jewelry commercial that blathered about The Holidays. Seriously, fuck off.
CKilps
Seems more like 12 months at depart stores
mikeatike
The 12 days don't have to be consecutive. What do you think Christmas in July is about?
ikagawa
Australians?
mikeatike
That is kind of brilliant.
TeamSpicyTacos
I had to get through Xmas bullshit to get to Halloween stuff fuck this shit
DumpRater
As a freight worker, we've been getting Christmas stuff in since early September.
iamthisguy247
As a Canadian, maybe we could at least honour Remembrance Day first. And then maybe a few more weeks because....just please.
AnusReadyToBeRavaged
Agreed. Any time after 11th November is a good time to get into the spirit.
AWanderingMage
Second this
melveys
I’d like to think that we can honour our soldiers despite whatever decorations or music may be playing in our homes.
DonkeyKelly
Unless the 12 days represent the 25th of every month, therefore Christmas every month
Anthroposapien
swooper
Nothing controversial about it.
Grode
The quality
SliderOfElay
Right?! Crispy af
Anthroposapien
Feel free to use at your leisure. Just grabbed it from Google images.
Dominantsnuffleupagus
But some of them are in January, so don't get confused.
youcantgiveAbabybooze
We're British and we will start Christmas whenever we bloody well like
SubNurBek
Bonfire night!!!!!!
DontcallmeLen
It may begin after rememberance Sunday.
EngineerforPresident
It may begin in my house whenever I damn well please and I’m getting real sick of people telling me it shouldn’t
AnusReadyToBeRavaged
It shouldn't
xraphaelxx
My mum is visiting in 2 weeks, you can be damn sure we’re getting the decs out and having an early xmas
TheRicM
That attitude sounds very American
Chronozon937
We learned from the best.
HieroGliffin
Well, they’re our parent, so...
TheCrispiestNoodles
I saw a woman on Facebook raging that people in her neighborhood had put Christmas lights up in October....it was for Diwali...
VagisilToothpaste
Fuck all of this. If basic bitches who think they're goth can get all spooky on sept 1 - I can get all fuckin festive on nov 1.
Volimar
Putting up decorations and getting into the spirit always helped push back my seasonal depression. Don't know why people have such a problem
BushDidWolf359
Don’t the twelve days of Christmas happen after Christmas? So really Christmas goes into January.
EroticZombiePants
There are a variety of cultures that gives out gifts on Three Kings Day, which falls on January 6th (read: 12 days later), not Christmas.
bknice02
Or October! I'm looking at you Walmart
TheDogBurt
My favorite part about the holidays and retail, is how there’s less than a week of thanks giving between Halloween and Christmas at my store
WhatisaYute
EmergencyMouse
This refers to the 12 days after Christmas, between the birth of Christ and the kings arriving (called epiphany). So true, but irrelevant.
ICantBeUnique
If one were to believe you, then it's not true. There is NOT 12 days in December after christmas. So true and relevant. Nice try though.
swooper
They're not all in December, Christmas stretches into January. In my country Christmas/Yule is 13 days, with January 6th as the 13th day.
nommon
Thank you for that explanation. As someone who grew up in a Jewish house in a Jewish town, I never understood what the 12 days meant.
brootis
As someone who grew up in a Christian house, neither did I.
swooper
Those 12 days are all Christmas. Dec 25th is "Christmas day" aka 1st day of Christmas. January 5th is the 12th day of Christmas.
wonfungi8206
So none in November
TimeRyderAndTheChronoTeens
thanksgiving is a thing!
SmellarinaTheBallerina
Tbf it's better for us poor millennials to have longer time to buy gifts and food and decor so we can have the xmases of our childhood.
MentalFest
hey hallmark started 24/7 christmas movies weeks ago, didnt even mention halloween let alone thanksgiving. blame them.
Flareside
Call corporate for the businesses you frequent, and tell them you do not appreciate Christmas music in november.
Vedar
"well our studies show that people like it"
Jaynecobb7
no, there's 3 days in Christmas. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Die Hard Watching Day.
TheRicM
Philippines starts celebrating Christmas in September
Medionsinger
Just as a note, the first day of Advent is often in November and can be as early as the 27th.
DigiT00l
11th actually, depending on the sect
Reofrax
28th of october , the mall started playing Christmas music. thats too early. ITS OCTOBER.
SiriusWolf
So what you're saying is I should start singing Christmas in July just to spite this post?
modus0
No, start singing for Christmas 2020 on Dec. 26th, 2019.
dancefoyobees
Well I think the bears suck
iamthisguy247
Yeah what do they mean “bears repeating”? They didn’t even win last year.
EroticZombiePants
Yeah, their season is already over. I mean the Packers are looking at like 13 wins, and Minnesota will probably get like 11-12.
dancefoyobees
I’m a Packs fan but we will see
wordtroll
The bears season is always over by game one
Cadaver3rd
Hey, fuck you.
EroticZombiePants
At least they didn't destroy their fans' hopes quite like Cleveland has this year.
dancefoyobees
Lol sorry
Cadaver3rd
It's all good, man.
ikagawa
Weird you'll put 'Halloween' rather than 'Samhain' if you're also going to use 'Saturnalia'.
AWanderingMage
Forgot Halloween's proper name.
DigiT00l
All Hallows Eve?
thorkild91
I think it’s inappropriate to mix Roman and Gaelic festival names. At least go with Yule.
ikagawa
As far as I can tell, Saturnalia predates Yule by at least 600 years.
thorkild91
Well... yeah. But that isn’t an actual response to the issue I had raised
thorkild91
If anything Yule and Samhain were more likely to actually be celebrated at the same time
