#5 In my head, I read it as if it was the same person replying on their first/initial thought/belief and finding out that it was, well a mistake.. and saying 'well, shit' as if it all went to hell. Because me too have only found out that the first part is not true! 😭

#30 Jesus Christ, leave me alone. I just woke up and I'm being attacked. Every.single.one.

Hey Potato, didja really need to call me out like this? ;-;

#30 I've been self-sufficient for so long that I've gotten really good at a lot of stuff, to the point where other people sometimes can't function properly without me. The default first response to a new Situation at work or at home is for the person to ask me for help, rather than try to solve it themselves. To the point where if I take time off, there are usually a number of problems for me to fix when I get back.

Why do I find the most relatable authentic and welcoming statements to be in memes like this?

#10 My not coping as well as I thought I was moment came about a year ago. Somebody made a joke about an event that I have PTSD from (it's an occupational hazard as I work in aviation). I thought that I'd handled it well until I was driving home and realized that I was doing 30 MPH over the speed limit.

Hey, you realized it. You have awareness of an unhelpful pattern. That’s not nothing!

#38 this one isn't so bleak. At least kitty here has someone to comfort and hold them while they're in pain, even if they can't fix it.

Now that my constant anxiety and depression has been in check for many a month, I can only concur with every anxiety and depression related meme: it do be like that sometimes

#41 not advocating using the same spoon over and over - but straight peanut butter is a perfectly good snack. Lots of protein, low carbs, plus fat, so if you then eat something higher in carbs the fat is already slowing your digestion a bit, so you feel fuller longer.

And most importantly, take care of you. We all love you here. ❤️❤️❤️

#35 well that was illuminating. So, how do I, or um, how does my friend, fix it?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to have the squall Leonhart quote in a social media profile and everyone thought I was depressed (I was)

#30 oh didn’t expect to get called out but here I am

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not self-isolating is hard.. I made a new friend and I'm already feeling like a creepy annoying burden to them.
I'm sure that's not the case.. because I feel that way with everyone and others tell me it's not.. but fuck if it doesn't feel SO real.
I don't know how to shut off that hypersensitivity to percieved changes in how they act. Or how I feel with it all. I can't just be me.
So I pull away and give them space and I'm lonely.
Sure I'm not the only one. It just sucks.

I'm noticing slightly more anxiety/depression memes than dirties in this post. Hope everything is going ok, and if it isn't it's always ok to just take a day to feel and recover. Hope you get baked not mashed potato

It's just that time of year, I think. I always get a huge bump in inquiries at my therapy practice at the beginning of summer.

Why?

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Speaking as a parent of younger kids, transition seasons (school starting/ending) are relatively seismic, paradigm-shifting changes for them and cause all sorts of havoc. Their known, reliable schedules are changing and it causes a lot of inner stresses, whether they’re aware of it or not. And all this boils down to them going feral and crashing out over little things.

All that said, adults aren’t immune from these stressors during transition seasons as well

Lots of factors. Students tend to come out of the woodwork when the semester is over. Lots of folks spend time with their families during the summer, which is a trigger for many pepple. Concerns about increased idle time are big for anxiety and depression clients. Some folks just feel more motivated by the good weather and free time.

I get a similar (but smaller) bump around the winter holidays, usually related to family stuff.

Gonna go off on a tangent here. Born in 82 and raised in California school system. When I was a wee young lad in kindergartner the teachers once had a parent/teacher/police meeting because they thought this little kid had gotten into some kinda speed. I couldn't sit still, my legs would twitch all day and such. Once confirmed my parents weren't addicts to the docs I went, they believed I was having an reaction to the many meds I was on (Massive allergies, hayfever, asthma(more on that), ear

infections, sinus infections. I was always on some kind of med that is supposed to be a downer, they argued that I must have a rare issue where my body reacts in the inverse. It gives me energy. Now this is all told to me, I don't recall. Flash forward throughout all of school/life till I'm in highschool. I was known as Spaz. My nickname, because throughout my time in school from 5th grade on I was OFTEN in scraps and getting real violent for my age. Like almost tearing a kids ear off in fifth..

Family/Friends/MYSELF all concluded I was just a "spaz" and I did the only thing I could do, I owned it. I got recognition from peers, my father specifically, for being a dangerous little dude. I was tough, I was intimidating (to a few), but I was also seen as a spaz. Someone who just at times wasn't capable of being "normal" and would lose his shit. So the docs assumed such, the meds continued and life went on. I had many asthma attacks during my youth, one that hospitalized me (I was absolute

-ly fine in the end). I had teachers reach out, just three in my entire life, trying to get my parents to get me into other styles of schools. As a boy raised in the 90s I thought "they're sending me to special ed" and I made a fuss until it stopped being a thing. I started drinking at 15, I started searching for stronger downers at the same time. By the time I'm 32 in the navy I'm killing a case a night and only booze at the time, because of laws and the service. Before enlisting Id gobble up

whatever downer I could find. No idea WHY I was so drawn to all of this. Then while in the Navy, at 32, I had another Asthma attack except this time I had some actual G's working on the ship, they knew I did NOT have Asthma. That was a panic attack, I thought I was dying and they helped my ass. Navy forces me into Therapy, after a stint in the cuckoos nest, and years go by of me trying to figure out my anger. eration they come back to me and tell me "You have a genetic disorder, its causing Panic Attack Disorder" and they give me the details. I spend the next decade learning everything I can and managing it the best I can. I'm 44 years old now, I was never a Spaz. I was never a "tough guy" I was someone with a genetic disorder that was mocked for it, STILL IS mocked for it(family have a hard time seeing you differently from the last time they had power over you), and its been the LITERALY DIRECT
