2. I've been going to punk shows most of my life and that's the whole deal. Looks don't matter, just chops. This is happening today, it just has to be found.
Reconsidering my standpoint... I think perhaps I'm still looking at things with too much of my experience from the 90s and 2000s. These days we're starting to go back to accepting music from all places. That is one thing the internet has definitely done for musicians... Given them a platform where they might not have previously had one
Lol, punk is not really about chops, plenty of big punk acts can't play for shit, punk is about messaging and, for lack of a better term, vibing. Power chords, intensely repetitive and simplistic beats, raw, often off key vocals.

Don't get me wrong, they had great songs; but the aesthetic mattered. Heck, it's always mattered to punks. If I strolled up wearing something that didn't fit the aesthetic, it didn't matter how much I liked punk music, I'd get side eyed and shit talked like crazy. There is a uniform. Fit in or you don't belong. Not much different than any other musical genre.
I'm a punk fan as well, but let's not pretend that punk bands don't have a fairly universal dress-code. They are fairly cookie-cutter. Still dig the music.

It hasn't, there have always been 'heart throbs' and glam bands. Look at the Monkies, they literally casted the band. There's a reason there are are song writers. There are always a ton of more talented people that didn't get a break because they lacked the X factor.
I said the same thing 2 weeks ago so I went out, got my kid her first guitar and amp so we can learn how to play and bring music back. I use to drum 20 years ago.
I played piano when I was a kid. I never got very good at it but I liked it. When I played FF7 Rebirth a couple years ago, there was a piano minigame that I ended up really enjoying (despite kinda sucking at it) ..Made me want to go get a keyboard and pick it up again.
Hell yeah! My kid is the only kid at her school that plays the guitar so for this up coming years tallent show she wants to show off. We have been playing and practicing every day.

In my high school the band class was fairly small, but in the tiny town he lives in the band is easily twice as big if not bigger. I love seeing kids finding their love in music
So many kids sing or get into music in middle school/ high school where I live so having my kid start now at 8 she will have more experience for later.
