I’ve watched people play Pachinko before, I still have no idea what’s going on.

Modern machines are more like slot machines but these vintage ones are pretty simple. You flick the handle and it launches a ball clockwise. Then the balls fall through the playfield, hitting pins along the way. You can adjust how hard the ball launches and you try and get it into a pay pocket.

a.) "Pachinko" the book is very good, I'd recommend reading it. b.) Pachinko games are neat. I've almost pulled the trigger for buying one to repair, as they're usually broken. They are surprisingly reasonable. Maybe more complicated than I'd guess. But I need another project like I need a hole in my head.

On one hand, I'd say 'do it!' They are great and a lot of fun. On the other hand, one quickly turns into two, turns into ten. It can be an obsession. Unknown condition and un-restored they arent worth much ($20-40) a lot of the time all they need is cleaning and a set of balls.

Nice! 5 is a good amount. Enought to rotate them and keep play interesting without taking up too much space. I have too many right now.

We had a vintage pachinko machine when I was a kid, it was fantastic... and LOUD... and the little metal pachinko balls ended up everywhere in the house, but man I loved it! This is great!

I did, found a cool evangelion themed one, and couldnt make heads or tales of it lol, a manager saw we were pasty white tourists and even attempted to explain it to us

I have a nearly identical model and I need some (I think) minor work done. A single bumper on the top right and the battery/wiring harness is disconnected (a new one didn't work). Last it worked, years ago, all the electronics and mechanicals were functioning, though. My grandma had it and I got it from my mother a few years back, would love to get it going again.
