is it working or are things still getting worse?
RHodeidra
I've been saying that it's pathetic there are no or very few protests during the week (the only time that matters) in the US. Kudos to the students.

Also don't forget about the epstine files over this

My teenage nephew in arochester walked out of high school in protest yesterday and i've never been more proud of him. My mother, his grandma, told him she protested the Vietnam war as a college freshman.

When does ICE start shooting school kids?
NinjaClyde
When the police get in their way. Since they know the police don't interfere with school shooters.

Keep it up! EVERY day! Don’t let the passion dissipate or weaken with time. That’s what they are counting on. They will try to distract, and try to draw it out until people lose interest. DON’T LET THEM!!

I mean. Now that i think of it. I haven’t heard a peep about any of the Epstein stuff for a while. So i guess the distraction is working

The problem is the system is set up to apply punishment automatically. These people will eventually lose their jobs and homes if they continue resisting. Waiting them out is a legitimate strategy. If you want your protest to work, you either have to be willing to suffer greatly, or force a result quickly.
Imalwaysready
Problem is, there is no “forcing a result quickly.” Ever. Not against the government.
Even if you do win something, they can just keep throwing more at you in order to take back whatever they lost than you can counter long-term. It’s not the musket and cannon days. They have drones and satellites. And right now they have an openly corrupt SCOTUS and ownership of most media, too.
You have to win hearts and minds—or make their supporters feel the pain long enough that they cave—and that takes >

sustained effort over time. It even takes inflicting harm on yourself most of the time. People have to be willing to lose jobs & get arrest records.
Look at the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Not a weekend thing. They avoided busses for more than a year. They had to walk miles to work, or in the rain and cold. They lost jobs. The boycotters suffered as much as the boycotted—FOR MORE THAN A YEAR.
And that was just to change one city’s bus policies. Altering a nation’s trajectory will take A LOT more.
BHPaperstacks
The boycotted suffered far more than the boycotted. The boycotted were rich people losing money, but they never starved or had their actual lives inconvenienced, minus maybe a few drivers who lost work.
