What I always liked about the early episodes/seasons of black mirror is how quickly it can make you switch sides. Like you either go from "man, this tech would be cool!" To "oh God this would be awful!" Or "I feel bad for that girl" to "oh, screw her". I feel like the newer/American episodes (especially the ones most sites like the most) seem to be missing

They may need to be big dependent on the target, but I (as an engineer) actually don’t immediately have a plan in mind. My first thought is a directional antenna and to play with a small voltage doubler and maybe a thyratron, but I’m not sure if I’d get on the order of magnitude needed for EMP type damage without a washing machine sized Marx generator. Jammers, on the other hand, are far easier.

If you can directionalize it well, it would have a shot. Shorter wavelengths require shorter antennas as targets so you will get more power delivery. But that’s less “EMP” than I was picturing and probably more likely to force resets and disrupt as opposed to permanently destroy.
