Does eating grass usually indicate an upset stomach?
Otomasoteraph
Eating grass and puking it (on sensitive places like carpets, furniture or shoes) is a cat thing.

Spoiler alert!
MithridateEupator
That's a myth - dogs don't eat grass to throw up.
Shapster
Dogs absolutely eat grass to relieve stomach issues. Was this written by a cat???

True but dogs do frequently throw up for no obvious reason and in my experience, grass will often feature in said vomitus. My dogs have always welcomed this time of year (it's winter here) because of the winter grass that doesn't grow in the warmer months. It must be nice and sweet so I often have to stand patiently while they graze during our walks.

Grass does cause some dogs to vomit, but theres no evidence they eat it to vomit. Some dogs just consume everything they can.
DarwinsAgain
How would you scientifically test that potential though? All of my dogs have regularly eaten grass (although some were beagles and they will literally eat anything they can fit in) but at no point in my assessment were any of the dogs sick or had any reason to want to throw up. It just happens spontaneously. I've seen grass in their poo as often as I've seen grass in their vomitus. Dogs will even vomit clean water so as you suggest, eating something in order to vomit seems very unlikely.
