Hey, guess why I don't use twitter, same reasons.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I won’t be buying any new cars, especially a Tesla.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well that, and the fact that Teslas are pieces of shit. The vehicles are subpar trash.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

why do you say that?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw one a few days ago. It looked even uglier in person.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Didnt this massive flap just get a 10k bonus *per car* sold by Tesla?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You mean that 50G bonus he demanded?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

not G, B.
A $48 Billion dollar bonus package.

Tesla was a solid luxury EV until he took over and went "hand's-on" management and drove it directly into the mud.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Until about 5 years ago my dream was once to own a Tesla. Today I wouldn't take one when somebody would gift it to me, I'd sell it and buy an electric car from another brand - I boycott brands when I know they're owned by fascists.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

...tell me you know nothing about cars without telling me you know nothing about cars. Teslas are fun, affordable, amazing to drive, reliable. I've now driven my 2019 model 3 143000 miles without any problems, without any service, without anything breaking. Sure Elon is a maniac, but I. Don't. Care.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

sshhh, don't interrupt the circlejerk

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

100% of the reason I won't buy a Tesla is because of Muskie. I almost bought one during the pandemic on a whim but came to my senses and did a small renovation of my house instead. I'm currently saving for a down payment on a GR Corolla and can't wait.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's almost like if the person who controls the quality of a product is erratic and unpredictable, the product itself cannot be trusted.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Despite musk it's still the most valuable car manufacturer in the world, and they make quality cars. I know you'd never know it based on the internet, but there's been a PR war raging for a while, and there's a lot of misinformation.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This must leave so many MAGAs conflicted. They want to be seen to support a fellow neo-fascist but at the same time they're contractually obligated to despise anything that doesn't involve fossil fuels.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

here i was thinking it was the quality control, lack of service, parts scarcity, and price turning buyers away who knew

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yer getting some misinformation. Tesla has excellent QA and is the most valuable car manufacturer in the world- excellent safety ratings too. Why so many hateful stories and outrage? Fuck musk, but also fuck big oil.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so lack of service, parts scarcity and price are all still problems? 75% right aint bad. c's get degrees

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I won’t get an electric car until I have a house and can have my own charging station that actually charges fast, but when I do it definitely will not be a Tesla. Even if they gave me one for free I’d turn around and sell or trade it in.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While I cannot afford one...I did notice in myself that whenever I see one on the streets, I went from "good on you mate" to not only eye rolling, but active disdain.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hmm other CEO's are crazy too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Although they also benefit by not dealing with the build quality, lifespan, other technical issues

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I own a Tesla model 3 and I will never buy another Tesla unless Musk gets fired. And I will never buy another gas car. My other car is a Chevy Bolt that we'll probably have for another 2 or 3 years and on that EV is must have 350kwh maximum charging speed and ubiquitous charging network and V2G capability.
So by that time we should be fine.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tesla shareholders approved a $46bn pay package for Musk, and voted to move the company from Delaware to Texas to get rid of lawsuits about these packages. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-pay-package-vote-cbs-news-explains/ in exchange, he promised to stay engaged in Tesla for the next 3-5 years. Tesla stock bumped up. The package doesn't seem to be tied to that promise, as far as I can tell.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do we want him to stay engaged though?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That any they are shit quality for the expensive price. If the original teslas had todays tech they’d be worth it, but elons Teslas are the wish.com version

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ha, yea this just isn't true.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

When you look back, whoever his PR guys were were very good. If he hadn't unmasked himself, everyone would still think of him as a good guy.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It was easy, because we wanted someone like him. We wanted space programs to come back, electric cars to finally become mainstream, some of the feeling of a hopeful future that was retired in favor of quarterly profits. We were willing to jump to assumptions about Musk because he was what we wanted to see and hear. Then we kept seeing and hearing.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Saw something that said Elon Musk has an IQ of 210... right... Reverse the order of those numbers and it would more accurate.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Elon Musk is a fraud.
He is less of a genius than what he wants the internet to believe.

He has a degree in economics. But couldn't get a degree in physics because he wasn't smart enough.
2 years after he left the school and after the school got a big donation, he finally "got" his degree he was lying to employers for.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even IF he had a super high IQ and could do amazing feats of computation and engineering (which he very clearly cannot), he is so immature, arrogant, and myopic that he couldn't get a thing done.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also Tesla's cars are shit - even MAGA morons just buy them as lawn ornaments...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why do you say that? did you try a tesla and not like? Did a friend of yours buy one and didn't like it? There's a lot of misinformation and propaganda around Tesla. Fuck Musk but also Fuck Big Oil.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are plenty of electrical alternatives to fucking Teslas, my guy. Most of them not setting records for returns... https://time.com/6984405/tesla-is-recalling-125000-vehicles-for-a-seat-belt-signal-issue-heres-what-we-know/

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This "recall" just means they fixed a sensor issue with their next software patch (last month). It sounds alarming but doesn't involve returning cars or anything like that. I'm not gonna buy a Tesla, because I haven't finished driving my '07 Jetta into the ground, yet. But I want autonomous cars running on renewable energy, and they've been leading the charge- so I support them along with other EV's, and am very skeptical of media intended to discredit EV's.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dismissing one particular brand - when there's already multiple alternatives doesn't make me part of the problem. If I could afford an EV I'd sure as hell be driving one - it just wouldn't be a Tesla. I don't trust their products. Dead simple - you want to read more into that, have fun, I got shit to do

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah right. People are generally assholes so Teslas will continue to sell, my guess is they will be even bigger in. 10 years.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is tesla ever coming out with a new (non-joke) model? What a shitty car company.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What a funny thing to say about the most valuable car manufacturer in the world- the cars actually high quality- hard to believe, I know.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you sat in a tesla and then any non-tesla? They are rattley and everything feels cheap. Most of the automotive press agrees. Besides being new, they don't have much going for them. Sales are not going in a good direction for the company. Real car companies are making better electrics now. I would like tesla to make it, but I wouldn't be buying anything they sell right now. And Musk is a liability.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I wouldn't buy one because my '07 jetta is still kicking, but when I've been ubers and my coworkers it was very nice. Auto and Oil industry both hate Tesla, obviously, but the company is doing extremely well and the cars have excellent ratings across the board.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why bother when your 5yo SUV continues to be the most sold car in the world regardless of drivetrain?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because Dodge sold a shitload of caravans in the 80s, sat on that (like Tesla is doing now) then went out of business and got sold, resold, and now exists as a husk of a company. That is how the automotive world works.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He forgot who his core customers are.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure, sure. But it is not *just* that.

The range is tired with no amount of facelifts and refreshes getting away from that. They used to have a lot of the market to themselves but now they have competition and there are alternatives. Their QA has always been highly variable.

But yeah, there is a lot of "anything but a Tesla" going on out there due to him.

2 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure there's such a thing as variable Quality Assurance, if you think for a moment about what 'assurance' actually means...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, even if it wasn't for him, I'm just not impressed by Teslas, nor am I keen on the whole Apple-esque mentality of "you don't own/control this thing you bought, we do". In particular I hate the whole "no physical buttons or controls, no dashboard, just a single tablet" in the Model 3. Fuck that.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you getting your information from other car manufacturers?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am not.

I would not know how to.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was suggesting you're consuming propaganda, it'd be a passive thing- reposting it is active though. There's a crazy amount of misinformation floating around on Tesla. Fuck Musk, but also fuck big oil.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which of the three claims I made do you consider to be untruthful ?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oooh competition? Elon does NOT like that. Makes him look terrible :(

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Musk capitalized on the novelty and environment-friendly aspects of the product, even though the energy and materials used to manufacturer them combined with the very short lifespan make them comparable to conventional vehicles. When the vehicles were only a minor component, the existing infrastructure could handle them, but full support would require building a much more extensive and reliable infrastructure.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are the real world issues that require real work to address, and you can bet Musk is going to exit well before he has to deal with them. His motivations have nothing to do with the environment, just money. His exit began with that big payoff he finally got approval for. Hope he retires to a desert island and it erupts while he's sleeping.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tesla pioneered and popularized EV tech, and is now the most valuable car company in the world...there's a LOT or misinformation going around. Fuck musk, but also fuck big oil.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact of the matter is that the problems with build quality / variable QA are a product of Elon's personality as well. The lack of replacement models for older designs is a product of Elon's personality. The absurd amount of engineering waste on the Cybertruck to release a terrible half-baked product is a product of Elon's personality. Even though it isn't a company he privately owns, he runs it like a cult leader would.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Totally on board with trashing musk but Tesla has maintained hight quality- and is still the most valuable car manufacturer in the world. There's been tons of misinformation, and debunked stories targeting Tesla and the Cybertruck.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No there hasn't. Tesla has not maintained high quality, in fact quite the opposite. There have been myriad build quality issues plaguing pretty much every car they bring to market.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oops, semantics. I mean quality like their technology, design, safety, functionality, etc. All very high. They def have had quality control issues and recalls, which are usually fixed next software update.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Software updates don't fix build quality at all. Their technology is also spotty. Some is amazing, some is really terrible. My favorite software quirk of theirs is full self drive turning off seconds before a crash and returning control to the driver so the driver is at fault and not Tesla. That's fun.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean Tesla's aren't really ahead of the curve anymore. Want a big luxury electric? Buy a Lucid. Want an electric 3 row SUV? Buy a Kia. Want an electric crossover? Buy a Hyundai. Want an amazing electric sports car? Buy a Porsche. All these cats are on par or better than the equivalent Tesla.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you haven’t noticed, BYD already has a ton of electric vehicles on the roads of America in the form of buses

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We see one cybertruck driving around and it's ugly as sin

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

if you can afford a 100k pavement princess you dont have to care what other people think.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Depending on which sin, it could be very beautiful.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's perfect: a gluttonous sloth. How majestic XD

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stock, it looks like a fucking refrigerator rolling around on the road. But there's a guy in my area that wrapped his matte black, and I have to admit, it looks pretty fucking sick. Like a stealth fighter.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tesla did one good thing: give traditional auto manufacturers a kick on the arse to develop their own EVs

2 years ago | Likes 158 Dislikes 1

But Elon is such an innovator and genius! He invented... the hyperloop or the cybertruck! Nobody is knows as much about manufacturing in the world. He said so himself.

But seriously though the hyperloop was such a scam. It was only made up so an actual highspeed train line wasn't created instead. Even if it would work imagine what the fucking maintenance costs and downtime would be for a vacuum pipe the length between LA and San Diego. Pressure loss in that system would not be pretty.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes thank you Tesla founders Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning!

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

After hearing about parts delays and inability of getting broken teslas fixed. I wouldn’t buy an EV unless it’s from one of the top tier manufacturer’s

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Tesla makes bad EVs, but they set a bar for the rest to surpass.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Also: EU rules mandate all new cars must be electric bij 2030.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

CA is 2035

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that mandate came about after Tesla repopularized EVs. I *really* wish that Chevy would get back to producing the Volt again tho

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I just don't understand the interior. The ENTIRE dash is just one iPad in the center (not even in front of me as the driver)? I was recently in a Chevy Bolt and it feels like a modern car to me.

2 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Unsurprisingly, the primary reason for the "one big screen" is: it's cheaper. From both a design and a manufacturing perspective.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Tesla tried to reinvent the wheel with every component of the interior. I’ve rented them and was very frustrated by that. I’m sure you get used to it, but I can’t escape the feeling that it was just an egomaniacal move to change things are widely known and work well

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion here... I want to point out that 1 screen for everything is easier to fix than many screens with many buttons. If only other sane car manufacturers would think that is a good idea too. But, it must have WONDERFUL voice recognition and commands.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

having no haptic feedback for major, critical functions of an automobile just seems fucking reckless to me, regardless of who built it. lights, blinkers, wipers, shifting, all that sorta stuff needs to be available instantly and by muscle memory if you really wanna be safe

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As others have said, it's cheap, and it also saves money by being VERY easy to swap to right hand drive.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that is like comparing a nokia 3310 with a iphone. you can keep texing on the nokia, meanwhile i want to video call on the iphone.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 18

wait, you want to make a video call while you drive?

And which one do you find more modern? The one with the crude stick as a dash with tablet stuck next to the driver with the system controls like an alpha prototype for demonstration or the one with the system controls task-optimized for an actual driver?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Maybe instead of it making you want to video call, it should make you want to pay attention to the fucking road.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Exactly. It's a CAR, not a tablet to distract your child. I want the dash to show information in front of me, not off to the side. And I want physical controls on the wheel and dash, not just touch screens for everything.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Physical controls are underrated these days. I suspect there will be a major design resurgence to include them in the next few years as the novelty of touch interfaces wears thin.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"...as touch interfaces wear flat"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a 6 year old model 3 (top pic) and it still feels like the future every morning. But to each their own, I see the appeal to Mini dashed with a billion switches...

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

The Model 3's dash looks bizarrely antiquated and quaint to me. I just don't understand how anyone would want that.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I always thought the Model 3's interior looks like a simplified children's toy. I shouldn't have to navigate through touch menus to activate any primary vehicle functions.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Which functions can you only do from the touchscreen that can't be set to auto or via voice commands?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate voice commands because it makes me mute my music to access it. I even bought FSD so I could permanently mute the GPS voice so I could enjoy my music without distraction but also without negatively affecting navigation.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel you. I love music too, and have it on almost all the time. But, not wanting to interrupt a song for 5 seconds while you give a voice command is some first world problem shit if there ever was one. :D Anyway, my question was loaded, because I know the answer is "none", but it's cool to hate on Tesla cars and make up irrelevant "problems" like having to use the touch screen while driving, for some reason.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well they did move the gear shift to the screen... but they do have buttons for the shifter too, and pretty much all the other primary vehicle functions are accessible somewhere on the steering column.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As someone who both is a software engineer and places a high importance on the technological aspect of new car purchases, you can keep your futuristic feelings. I will never trust any vehicle that is controlled almost exclusively with touch screens and software.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

See also the Delta Flyer from Star Trek Voyager (see left side of this image where they have actual physical controls)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I thought that too, until I recently had to rent a car and went on a fun adventure searching for the knob that controlled the dash brightness in the dark because the last asshole in the car turned it off completely. Kind of a blessing in disguise as with a single touchscreen you know all the controls are going to be in there instead of randomly hidden under the steering column.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Plus when everything is controlled by software your settings can be saved and transferred to different cars. If you have a Tesla profile it will actually load all your settings when you login to a new car, even a rental. Didn't even have to adjust the vents, seat position, or mirrors, as all the settings I had tweaked to perfection on my vehicle at home were loaded in an applied as soon as I added my phone as the key... which meant I also had full remote app control too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I lived with my family that owned Teslas for a bit, and they added me to their account so I could drive the cars. My aunt's profile is set up to open the door automatically when she approaches. Whenever I walked past the car with my phone in my pocket after she had driven it, the door opened. On top of that, it never once remembered my profile and I had to manually choose it every time. Tesla automatic profiles are the very definition of "it works great except when it doesn't".

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, if that's your experience, then you missed the point. The reason I want physical controls has nothing to do with convenience. I want physical controls because software-based touch controls have exponentially more things that can prevent them from working, and I'd much rather be able to engage the parking brake with a mechanical lever than a button.

Not to mention, anything software-based can be hacked, and any software that receives automatic updates from the cloud can be hacked remotely.
