The man is literally 100 yards away, this isn't really funny, he didn't deserve it like most of them. He observed all proper precautions and was just unlucky, I hate everyone saying 'FAFO' about it.

Honestly this seems like one of the few times this wasn't at all intentional and the Bison was being an asshole. They shouldn't have stopped to take pictures, but it's pretty clear this wasn't them intentionally getting way too close either

I didn't read the story, but knowing how Yellowstone treats its bears who do stuff like this, I can imagine that the bison was killed for being "dangerous."

I have been to Yellowstone several times. All over the park are signs about the wildlife (specifically, DO NOT APPROACH) Every time I've been there I have seen people gather around the wildlife.

Yea, it looks like someone was in the middle of making breakfast and the bison probably came along and claimed the spot, possibly because of the fire's warmth, so the cook backed off and took the video from a distance. Either that, or the bison had no problem with people setting up behind it for at least several minutes (unlikely). The guy in the video was right to use a designated path, but an advisable safe distance from a bison is 75 feet, so they should have kept walking. Animals are animals

Yup, Bison didn't get pissy till the truck shows up. I would have hoped the park ranger would have tried to draw it away some. Maybe that's what he tried doing? Hard to tell

He may still have been too close, I dunno what the posted signs say for the season there right now. But he for sure was warned to proceed at own risk if they are around. Homie got clocked good though, huh! And landed about as well as an old man could hope for

If you mean the one recording this, please keep in mind that zoom lenses exist, so the one recording may have been further back and zooming in. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, just that it is possible.

It's entirely possible they're 75 feet away. Bison can close that distance in about 1.5 seconds at top speed
