This one has the exact same *everything* structure as the Getty photo, making theirs the "real" one. Getty's has an unnecessary and extremely heavy Sharpening filter, making everything not baby-smooth stand out more.

Not necessarily. Earlobes are unique in their structure, so they don't experience hydrostatic shock like the rest of the human body does. A one-in-a-million shot that barely grazes the ear could potentially cause superficial surface damage without entirely destroying the cartilage underneath.
