Our cat Coco has been missing since Tuesday night.
She was an out door cat for 10 years before we got her from my sister in law.
When she moved a year ago she couldn’t take her, so we did. Her parents wanted to leave her in the woods, I couldn’t abide by that.
She was a real pain in the ass when she moved in. She imprinted on me right away, she wouldn’t leave me alone, she pestered me for everything. It didn’t matter if it was 3am, if she wanted something, she woke me up.
We have had her for a little over a year. We tried keeping her inside the first few months, but she couldn’t take it, so we started letting her outside, against my wishes.
She went out Tuesday night, and never came back. I have searched the neighborhood every night since then, talked to more neighbors then I ever have before, no one has seen her.
I fell in love with that little fuzz ball, she met me every day when I got home from work, she sat with me every morning when I drank my coffee, she didn’t like to be held, but would always let me pick her up. I’m not an emotional person, but it’s really weighing on me. But I can’t communicate that to anyone. I gotta stay positive for the wife and kids, everyone is a wreck, I can’t be too, that will bring them down more. I truly hope she is okay and someone just took her in, I don’t want to consider anything else. I don’t mean this to be a pity post, I just needed to get that off my chest. Stay safe y’all, and give your fur babies some love.

Our indoors only cat went missing for a month. We only caught site of him finally (with outdoor cams everywhere) in the last few days before we used a humane trap to get him.

Put her litter box outside. Also be very quiet in the house- esp at night, and just LISTEN. She might actually be hiding in the house!

Don't do that. It's bad for you and it's bad for your family. If they get to fall apart in a bad situation then so do you. Then you can all put yourselves back together... together.

Ive heard to put out worn clothes or blankets that smell like you next to a bowl with their food.

We had a heck of a thunderstorm a little over a week ago. My neighbor had inherited a cat from someone who left the neighborhood, and the lightning and thunder inspired Pocahontas to take off like a bat outta hell. They asked neighbors, put up signs, put out food (which other local cats enjoyed) and walked around the neighborhood. She finally strolled home yesterday. Uninjured, bedecked with cobwebs, she walked into their house, looked around and settled on the couch. There is always hope.

I had a cat that went missing for 10 days. When he came back he was ver skinny but other than that he was OK.

I know mere words of possible reassurance much, but our cat few years back, almost always during summer disappeared for a week+ then came back, she's older now so she doesn't venture around far & as long as she used too, but she did in her younger years often for days or like i said sometimes even for over a week & then came back like nothing happened, after scaring the hell out of our entire family. That said, i hope yours returns as well from her long adventure outside all in good health ^^

Omg my black house panter is also called coco and this is my worst nightmare. I’m so sorry what you’re going through and i hope she gets found quickly and safely!

We've had luck using the worn-clothing method for finding cats - leaving multiple piles of clothes that smell like us between our place & where we think they might head (the old house) & checking there a couple of times a day. You can even leave a laminated note telling passersby what the clothes are for & not to take them. I really hope you find Coco ASAP. Also, HISS to the folks who wanted to leave her in the woods.

My bf & I would leave clothes we'd worn to the gym around the neighborhood, with a map so we didn't forget. Then we'd check morning & afternoon & sit nearby for a while. Our adventurous void, Kunta, greeted me by sitting on my sweatshirt after just two days of using the technique. Good luck!! Be thinking of you, your family & Coco.

My wife’s parents are horrible people, her mother is a diagnosed narcissistic alcoholic. Her 16y/o sister moved in with us for a while with the cat because she didn’t want to move with them. So HISS indeed.

That house is over an hour away. In the year and 4 months she has been here she has never gone farther than 2-3 houses away. She is old and lazy, she spends most of her days sleeping by the neighbors pool and comes home for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I'd head over there and check the place out, and maybe camp out there for a while.

Also 2nd putting the litter box outside. This helped a friend find her cat that had been missing for over a week. Cat came back day after she put the litter box on the porch.

We did right away, we tried to keep it covered, but storms have been bad here and it got soaked. We still have it out, but idk how effective it’s going to be. We also put her bed and scratch post outside. We put those in a different area so they are dry.

We have signs up all around the neighborhood, we put her stuff outside, and my wife is all over the social media stuff. I only use Imgur, she uses everything else and is in local groups.
