Yeah he feels forced, the more you rewatch the more you realise he's jarring. It's so much better when he's not on screen, & as an actor he has these annoying repetitive "I'm trying to be funny" ticks that are again, jarring. Shirley just fucking sucks as she's your typical toxic hypocritical christian that's granted an unearned moral authority, like christians in real life. Her actor's great but that character is massively problematic & unfun. Still fucking love the show so much though
