I'll find my person some time... just not right now.
My recent breakup was so healthy, it's the first seriously healthy relationship I had been in for awhile. And we really care about each other and for that reason we had to part ways. Some things can not be compromised on. We both have the respect for ourselves and eachother to know we had to part ways.
So while we are both hurting and very sad it helps a little knowing it was the right thing.

I love being single.

Just had this happen earlier this week. It’s difficult and so sad, just improve yourself and move forward

The Eagle and the Dolphin may fall in love, but where would they live...
CurbYourClassWar
Too many cheaters and wannabe Hollywood endings.
hnngh
Sometimes you love someone only to find out you're both tops.
Crowscrown
I had the exact same thing. Favorited this post to keep me reminded I'm not the only one. It sucks, but it is for the better. Good luck.
TheAnswerWasAlwaysMoreLube
There is a lingering sadness in even healthy breakups though. Normal, but still.
drinkingouttacups
My divorce was like that. I like to say it was an “elegant divorce.” There was pain but more importantly there was dignity.

TheFakeCraigFerguson
Same, my friend. Same.
LariCheltsy
Don't be afraid to date yourself.
SnarkyJester
#1 Because I want to be single.
ArdentNature
Sorta in the same Situation right now. May I ask what your differences were about?
mlbkiwi
One of us wants kids and one of us does not
ArdentNature
Same here. Well, about the same...

I still have a good relationship with exes. One said “we weren’t meant to be together, but we were meant to be in each other’s lives”
TinyOctopus
who has time to meet people these days?
NotTinyPancakes
If they're not on imgur or in a modding discord it ain't gonna happen
MrFBI
Wow! You’re almost at two million upvotes. Congrats man! You’ve made me laugh more times than anyone here. Thanks for all the good vibes!
SedatedSl0th
Took me 15 years to find my one. We get married upcoming September while on vacation in Fairbanks.
HaikuSorrow
Good for you! My divorce was similar. It was sad the amount of people that wanted us to hate each other. Nope.
SithShodan
That's a very difficult thing to do; good on you both for standing up for yourselves without letting it get out of control.
sockpanhandler
I try to have this mentality when I find myself crushing on coworkers. It helps

I'm single and anxious to mingle
mlbkiwi
I'll be holding off on my mingling for a while I think haha just hang out with my dogs
IAmDuckHammer
Why I'm still single: every female I meet ends up ghosting me or doesn't want a relationship.
CairoLen
Maybe start by not calling women "females"
ali4z
All the human female livestock keep ignoring me, I cannot fathom why, everyone knows I am entitled to at least one! /s
blankman757
Been single a few years now. No plans on changing that. People think it's weird for a dude to want to be alone. Feels right to me
Anonawesome
Been single almost a decade and it gets pretty lonely, but when I actually put in effort on a dating app, I was very unimpressed with the
Anonawesome
people I met and their ability to communicate. Went on a couple dates with one girl who was just a few years younger than me, but it felt
Anonawesome
like I was talking to a teenager with all the drama and judging. So I gave up once again. Some of us gotta die alone I guess.

Just focus on the more fun parts in life, and ignore the thoughts that want to bring you down
nosimpleway
Old guy pointed a gnarled finger at me and goes "Better keep in mind the common point of failure in all your relationships up til now, eh?"
nosimpleway
I sort of thoughtfully tap my sternum where he pointed and go "Yeah, congestive heart failure."
NickRivieraMD
reply: "Yeah, come to think of it, you've been alive for all of them!"
nosimpleway
I sort of thoughtfully tap my sternum where he pointed and go "Yeah, this cursed amulet I stole from a mummy's tomb. Dunno why I wear this."

Dang! We nearly have enough people to start a club! Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend and the “newly single” thing isn’t a burden!

God same, was ill during the week so weekend was a moment to just sit back, take a breather and get ready for tomorrow! Monday awaits
KiwiGameDev
Not used to people being in my time zone round here! How cool!
specsam
so... your single?
maximilianfragglebottom
mature adults! a rare species, always a treat to see one in the wild.
NotTinyPancakes
Quick throw your balls at it! *pokemon trainer noises*
TyAnderson2011
O shut up it’s much more mature to have a kid with your high school sweetie, have a shot gun wedding and curate an unhealthy alcohol problem
MrAmalgamate
The American Dream, as I’ve been lead to believe.
OmenJones
We're not born half of a whole. I'm not sure I'll be in a relationship again. It's fine.
Dondarian
I totally understand. If my wife and I were to ever split, I'd stay single. There is no shame or stigma to that choice.
LariCheltsy
This.
stupiddevotchka
Exactly this.
muchLongerUsername
People are so baffled when I tell them this. Like, I'm fine. Really. I'm just picky about who I spend my time with.
TheFeralDog
I am constantly asked what's the point of life not being married and having kids and that I'd be much happier married.
Tardaesel
I’m 24, and I love being on my own. I don’t want to compromise enough to get into another relationship. I don’t want kids, and even so,
Tardaesel
I could always asobt if I change my mind later. I do however want to put my time into my friends and spend my time with them.
Tardaesel
And maybe a fun date or two, since dating can be fun. I’m also asexual, so who needs sex anyways.
LariCheltsy
mlbkiwi
I'm pretty happy on my own. If I happen to find the right person for me cool. If not I'm already cool haha
EatsBees
i don't want to put the energy into letting my walls down unless the other person is willing to be an active participant in the relationship
EatsBees
im tired of siesta being the one to handle the emotional labor, to manage any social calendar, of hearing "oh whatever you think is best" NO
EatsBees
MOTHERFUCKER. TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT. USE YOUR GODDAMN WORDS. FUCKING COMMUNICATE WITH ME
marsilies
Speaking as someone who often doesn't have strong opinions on those things, and married to someone who did, it's often easier to just defer.
EatsBees
that makes perfect sense and is totally valid. i had an issue when my kiddo was first born where my now ex husband refused to say his mind
