I'm still giggling every time I remember the comment "Captain Crunch" :D

The team he wants to work with has already been deeper than Titanic. If he is able to not interfere, and give them the resources they need, it needn't end the same way.

This is Concerned Tom energy

Oh, damn! I didn't see this one before, and I'm giggling like a schoolkid.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Exactly. Let's encourage them, pretend like we all think it's so cool that billionaires keep doing these things and "bravely" risk their lives with a 90% failure rate. Watch them go extinct

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The classic is more cost effective. Which, ironically, the billionaires should apprechiate.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Doesn't work that way. After using a guillotine you then have to redistribute their wealth.

new model lets you take your friends with you

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They're doing it again boys! Break out the popcorn for more billionaires imploding under water

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 5

Nothing is going to happen. It's a well-tested submersible not made of the experimental crap from before.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

You mean like a REAL Xbox controller???

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

it's a nice novelty by i kinda like the charm of a public execution

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Calm down, bloodthirsty children. The Triton submersibles are not using experimental designs and they're far from being untested. They'll be fine. You'll have to get your schadenfreude elsewhere.

Can't we just go with the woodchipper? Not only does it expedite the process with little need for clean-up, we can turn the otherwise worthless carcass into fertilizer in-situ.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

Tell you what, beers are on the one that takes the longest to clean up the scene. You take, death by woodchipper, and I'll take the one where there's fuck-all being left of them after a pressurised underwater implosion

Heh. Crab. We know why he's there.

Because in the end, everyone is crab.

Supposedly some other billionaire was planning to build a new titanic, they seem hellbent on keeping the cycle alive somehow. I also fully support these brave business decisions.

2 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 4

What i don't get is the obsession with Titanic. Ok, so it was a historical ocean liner that sunk. And then there was a movie with a fictional love story about it. What else? Why do they obsess about it so much?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now we need this to sink and another idiot to build a sub to dive to this new titanic

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I recall an idea from 20 years ago of building the equivalent of an apartment complex out on the open sea. Wonder what happened to that.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a slow process, once the great Pacific garbage patch gets about 20 feet deep and starts solidifying, we Begin the next step

Sometimes we have to let natural selection take it's course

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He also wants it to be anti-vaccine only.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It is kinda funny how two of the three sunk and the one survivor actually sunk another ship...

I bet they're now doing it to see who doesn't die as a weird dick measuring contest.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Titanic isn't even that big by modern ship standards.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How do we trick Elon into doing this?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

You know what would be cool? Riding a Tesla car into space

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really we just need to tell Elon cyber truck drivers look cool. It’ll be taken care of quickly after that

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Tell them there are kids stuck in another underground cave.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Nah. Just tell him he can't do that.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some Australian businessdude. "Titanic II" - it failed last i yeard and was being scrapped

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Think there is also some rich Chinese dude trying to build one too.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I think that one might have been Clive Palmer. The same guy who owned a nickel mine and then stiffed all the workers. The same guy who ran a campaign copying Trump's, paying more for his campaign than the other parties combined and still failed to get a single seat.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats the name yea!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

According to wikipedia at least, it's being revived and the construction is meant to resume next year.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

..wow same dude he really wants that built

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

another billionaire is building another submarine to prove it's safe to dive to the titanic.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's the same guy I read about and who was also involved with the "Billionaire Implosion Machine I", he at least planned to hire proven professionals this time.

I mean it isnt that hard to do anymore. The worlds best deepsee submersibles are almost all payed for by excentric ultra rich guys, James Cameron with his Deepsea Challenger then came Victor Vecsovo with the most advanced submersible ever build. The difference is that they didn't cheap out on the construction and design. The DSV Limiting Factor costs 20 times what the Titan did. It was even bought by Gabe Newells deepsea exploration company in 2022 and is still in use today.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And the company that made Limiting Factor is building the new Titanic sub for this billionaire, so sadly he's not gonna pull a Captain Crunch Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Captain Crunch Part 2 Electric Boogaloo, made me actually laugh out loud, thanks for that

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not even really mad about the Limiting Factor, yeah they take tourists with them, but all their dives seem to have been for different reasons and had scientific purpose as well (they mapped out severeal deep sea trenches, observed new deep sea life and identified and explored three WWII shipwrecks). In comparison the Titan was a scam and the boat could as well has been made by ACME...
