A gentleman delivering a DoorDash meal decided to eat it instead. Caught on a security camera, the Virgina man fishes around in the large to-go bag for quite a while until he finds what he's looking for: hash browns meant for a child. Why he stole the food and enjoyed his meal right on the porch in front of a camera rather than in the hidden comfort of his car is anyone's guess. He is now banned from working at DoorDash.

The guy is a dick.
Boomboomyeahshaketheroom
Just to clarify: the title is a joke. A few commenters didn’t seem to get that.
Esdog
What does NGL mean? Fuck in getting old, too much lingo these days
apatchworkquilt
"Not gonna lie", also, as a person who also has been falling behind with weird slang and shit, urban dictionary sometimes helps
Esdog
Ok thanks!
SirDistic
"..meant for a child" I FUCKING HATE people using kids like that. Who cares who it was for? It's wrong to steal it.
PanditSnuggler
My ex was let go from DoorDash because she miscalculated how many free meals she could steal. They have a % that is ok to have undelivered.
happyishturtle
That is funny in an awful way

Literally the only thought this man had all day:

No Dewey trust me you don’t want this

Not once!
DarkLynx13
I do doordash... And I hate people that do this...
kai927
I've had this with GrubHub. And potentially DoorDash. Postmates are the only ones they haven't done this to me yet.
kai927
Unfortunately, Postmates is not very big in my area, so everything takes 45-90 minutes to deliver.
Boomboomyeahshaketheroom
Postmates isn’t go-to if we order something

This happens a lot. They aren't paid enough to care.

I want some hash brownies
FreewayGhostShark
I did Postmates while I was out of work and the thought of doing this never once crossed my mind 1/3
FreewayGhostShark
I tried to get to the restaurant and then to the customer as fast as I could. I'd feel bad if I thought I took too long. 2/3
FreewayGhostShark
Sometimes I'd even wait just to make sure the person picked up their food.
YeastInfectedWhiskerBiscuit
It baffles me how this delivery BS became a thing? So stupid and so dangerous! Like Uber!? We grow up being told "Don't take rides from 1/
YeastInfectedWhiskerBiscuit
strangers"......Now we invite strangers to come pick us up at random times from random places. And ask them to bring us food. SO SO STUPID!
shuya82
I got Doordash once, guy sat with my pizza in his car for an hour, after I had tipped. Got the food cold, DD did nothing, never again.
KatehasaBlog
I’ve had my order “cancelled” while en route so many times. I must be good at ordering, drivers often steal my lunch
Starfury42
We've used this at work a few times and I'm done. Expensive, food cold/soggy fries. Not worth it and I'll just bring my own (better) food.
shopCSNtv
He stole hash browns right from the lips of the starving child... lol.
Crawmak
The only reason I use DoorDash is because I don't have a driver's license to go get the food myself. McDonalds is the only place walkable.
TheFeralDog
They're much better than grubhub.. But yea
PieAndPunch
Fuckin idiot, you eat it in the car not in front of the door. Rookie mistake
goodisunpopular
The fact DoorDash is still in business after all the shit they do to both restaurants and drivers shows everything wrong with our society.
AnythingMuchShorter
Besides that, they aren't really a great service to use. They nearly double the price of the food and not much of that goes to the drivers.
goodisunpopular
They also charge commission fees to the restaurants on top of the fees they charge the customers.
Peachos
Shit like this shouldn't be why you don't use doordash, it should be the nail in the coffin to fucking stop after they fuck small businesses
Peachos
in the tailpipe as well. Hurting local Ma & Pa joints while having nutsacks handling your food on goodfaith? Hell to the no.
Lurkylew
How does this hurt small businesses? Certainly they’re not selling at a loss right?
Peachos
At cost often times with these services... the 30%ish markup they add to food gets taken from their end leaving no profit margin most often.
StrangerRangerDanger
that dude probably can't afford food himself they way they treat the gig workers.
pfshfine
Puts on $DASH
PieAndPunch
I agree but at the same time it helps out a lot more people than it hurts. Many people rely on it for a secondary source of income in order
PieAndPunch
to get by. Without Uber eats I would've gone bankrupt this year
RedRatchet765
Yes, but these types of gigs wouldn't be necessary if our society wasn't broken by capitalist theorycrafting. It's a vicious cycle
PieAndPunch
Yes, obviously. But are any of us stuck in it personally capable of changing it? No, we do what we can when we can
PieAndPunch

Doordash isnt that great anyway. I'm still waiting on some shit I ordered yesterday meant to arrive 3 hours ago.
EatsBees
damn that's the kinda problems i had with postmates. including them delivering to the office instead of my unit MORE than once
EatsBees
doordash they hand it to me, even tho i ask for contactless but i think it's because i tip so high

anirri
Thats because DD gets mad at us otherwise. I got suspended gir 2 days because i left at door on a hand to order
mammothmulcher
Jeez. Just get your money back lol Why even bother waiting.
iamthecomet
It depends on where you are. Where I live, GrubHub is awful and doordash is the best.
Boomboomyeahshaketheroom
Holy crap. I’ve used them before and had not so great experiences but never anything like that kind of delay.
MandalorianHybrid1
Yeah. Literally my first time with them and it wasnt even intentional, just who they use to deliver. I'm irritated as hell
thisisharderthaniknew
I drive for them time to time, that isn't normal tbh. I've been on the otherside where I've delivered food either "leave at door" or 1/2
thisisharderthaniknew
2/3"hand to customer" and have been reported for not delivering the food. Even with taking the photo upon delivery. 2/3
thisisharderthaniknew
Even had people forget to update their current address, got stuck with 5 breakfast tacos the other day lol they were at a different address.
Kimbongpal
I used doordash for the first time last week. Pizza tasted like crap, but the delivery driver was efficient and on time.
PeterPanGuineaPig
Having delivered for DD, I completely avoid them. If the customer tips, they deduct it from how much they themselves compensate the driver.
anirri
Actually least in CA they no longer do that. Their base pay is just crap. 5 bucks fir 15 mile drive.
JBSums
Postmates allows drivers to cancle orders after payment and pickup. Stole an entire $150 family meal and took 2 weeks to payback card.
Lachwen
My husband and I have used DoorDash lots of times and only had an issue once. We were visiting my family back in Oregon and ordered 1/

Worth the fees if I can do it myself. I am glad it exists for when people need it though. Wish they treated their employees better.
mizmoose
I'm disabled & use both instacart & shipt. Before the pandemic it was great but now it's a lot of bitter folks who lost other jobs.
mizmoose
I get that they're making ends meet and I'm sorry that the virus & the dingbat prez ate the economy, but don't take it out on my groceries!
ChristianMichael96
I’m sorry you’re not having good experiences with instacart. I’m disabled too and I use it for when I make a larger order that I can’t
ChristianMichael96
Carry home with my grocery cart on the bus. I haven’t had many issues (except for some bad substitutions every now and then)
mizmoose
I used to do that but I cannot anymore. I cannot drag a cart around and use mobility devices at the same time.
ChristianMichael96
Yeah, that really stinks. My disability isn’t severe enough to require a mobility device most of the time so I’m still able to use a cart.
ChristianMichael96
I hope you can have some better experiences getting your groceries! Wishing you luck!

The adult's hash browns were fine...

Seriously
SirDawby
As a restaurant manager, I cannot wait for this delivery fad to die. Not a single service improves either the guest or business experience
asm80dfa8sdfj
I hate to say it but as a market analyst this is not a fad. Your restaurant won't have to partake but many will continue to do so after it's
asm80dfa8sdfj
not "required" for business to continue. An entire new business model exists because of widespread food delivery, and it's far more cost
asm80dfa8sdfj
effective than running an actual restaurant the traditional way. UberEats, GrubHub, and DoorDash are all vultures, I do have hopes that
asm80dfa8sdfj
another decent service will come along that's not fleecing customers and restaurants at the same time. We'll see though.
mizmoose
A lot of disabled people like it 'cause they can get food from places that might not be accessible. Hate the biz model that screws rests.
v3rtabreaker
I hope never to be in a situation where I have a job but I dont enough time/money to eat Stealing bad but food crime makes me wonder why :(
slayston
I fully agree but still why the hell wouldn't he just eat it in the car before going to the door. .
Fresh1
This
peachiepie
Yeah, wondering why that's not someone's first assumption. Maybe he was just really hungry. :( This happened to me when I waited tables..
peachiepie
I was too poor to properly feed myself, and I JUMPED on any orders sent back to be remade. The cooks gave me extra fries sometimes, too...
peachiepie
It was SO hard serving food that smelled so good when I only got to eat once a day.
HonestAlthalus
Restaurant worker here: Door Dash is shit. Really. But still better than STD. STD driver dropped burger in lobby of apt building, marked as

apatchworkquilt
My experiences with most auxiliary food delivery services like this has been shit, either takes forever, food is cold, order isn't correct
Clemptor
All of this, not to mention it screws the restaurant over.
grim86
They do shenanigans alot. Working for 2 apps at once. Pick up your order, then head to another restaurant, do a detour then come to you.
SherMattLockSmith
Only experience was paying over 40$ for a 25$ order and feeling bad that I knew the driver was getting the short end so giving them 10$ cash
graaghles
It's shit pay for the driver AND the venue. You are paying double to mostly fund running a database and shareholders.
greenpixel
My experience from working in a kitchen is that most times the driver takes forever to get to us to pick up the food in the first place.
marklehenry90
Had an issue with a pizza order through DD. She took off from the store and after a bit hit "delivered" and I never got it. Pure bullshit.
Barkinsons
I've worked for a startup auxillary food delivery and it was kinda hit and miss. Everything was organized by amateurs
NotABadLookingNarcissist
I’ve had mostly good experiences with postmates.
JBSums
Postmates is the biggest joke. Drivers are allowed to CANCLE orders after pickup and payment. Allowing them to steal whatever they want.
xBenoitBallsx
Ordered pho and the guy sat 4mins 6 blocks away in a dead end street. Bro you just piss in my soup?
grim86
Likely double apping. Picking up another order for some one else. Drives me nuts.
wmzer0mw1
in their defense, they have to make enough "trips" to make it worth it.
wmzer0mw1
i think if local businesses cooperated in some drive share pooling this would be much easier
JBSums
Postmates steals food on the reg. Allows drivers to cancle orders after pickup and payment. Takes 2+ weeks to payback stolen meals.
BurnieCinders
It's a shit job where the main bonus is a free meal when you quit.
taurondir
AU here. Playing DnD at a store, we order food. 3/5 times stuff was missing. It was THAT bad.
SarahDancePainter
Erodes workers rights until we’re right back to the 19th century, etc
Elykscorch
My fries have been forgotten so many times from BWW that I've started calling along with my order to make sure the fries are there.
bongripsforjesus
I work at a pizza place that only delivers through apps. The drivers for those apps suck 9 times out of ten.
TheUnholyfreak
Dayum, I work Grubhub and I would consider myself respectful, patient, and a fast deliver.
anirri
Mosr DD drivers i run in to while i dash are idiots. I do my best to be nice and get the delivery done. But i met some merchants that sucked
anirri
To be fair as someone who runs doordash. Wrong order, long wait tend to be due to the merchant. Cold food least in my case is (c)
anirri
DD forces me to pick up 3 other orders before delivering. If i reject one my score goes down 3% if it huts 83% i lose my job.
apatchworkquilt
I don't get why chains don't just embrace delivery as part of the business especially with how things are right now instead of this
SquirtleSquad420
Many do door dash in addition to their own delivery. Its takes so little effort to put your restaurant on doordash uber eats and grubhub.
SherMattLockSmith
Easy != cheap, they lose so much revenue that it pretty much makes it not worth it to work with doordash or grubhub
AccountCreatedToUpvoteDogs
Most places charge extra to compensate for the fees DD etc. charge. $2/item is common for places near me.
SherMattLockSmith
+2$/item, plus delivery fee, plus tip means an extremely inflated price. Like I said, paying 40$ for a 25$ order before even having a tip...
CoffeeWithMcCauley
My guess is that this is cheaper and until people stop using DoorDash, why change.
chromed
This is actually more expensive, they all charge the restaurant to deliver. But if they're not on door dash etc who will order from them?
modis
As a Canadian living out of a hotel for the past 6 months. I’ve used Skip at least 1-2/week and haven’t had any really concerning issues.
whitefoxkei
I live five minutes from a pizza place that delivers. Yet they don't deliver HERE. It's fucked up.
PowerfulHamster
I had this recently, come to find out it was because my road is spelled wrong on google maps and that’s what they used to verify addresses.
whitefoxkei
In my case I think I live technically outside city limits. It's a small ass town.
Varenvel
becouse its middle man who buys from restaurant and delviers to you , not every restaurant can afford to have delivery as it comes>
Varenvel
with its own challenges and problems as well you need to factor the prizes or delivery fee as well tips.
Varenvel
not to say kitchen has to be organized a bit differently and orders for takeaways. , i know im a bit overblowing this but just 10 years>
Varenvel
ago a lot place where i live not even delivered , there were few but now most do , and i hate middle man handling my food.
7Rhymes
My guess is that it's cheaper to have DD & UE do it all, on top of them being able to blame the drivers if there's an issue.
Atarukb
Yes and no, they take a big cut (around 30% iirc) from the order, so depending on the sales volume, it can be much more expensive.
ImperialSecurityBureauAgentShab
They would have to carry some sort of insurance to cover drivers
IRecordYourComments
Many do. You just don’t know it unless you research.
Labyrenth
Yep in some places in Germany burger king delivers food
bound4doom
Actually they tried something like this in the US, when quarantine first started, didn't go over well. Dunno why, they stopped
WhichIsIt
Josiahkf
If you don’t tip, food will always arrive cold b/c the delivery companies don’t pay them enough to make tipless order accepting profitable.
grim86
Half the problem is they make you tip first. I always tip and they still mess around, so you end up tipping for terrible service.
Josiahkf
Very easy remedy. Drivers prefer if you text or call them “hey I got a 5 buck tip waiting for ya, please hurry” and don’t have to tip first
grim86
Intriguing, i like it.
RelartOfGivia
My shop sells via groceries via GrubHub, drivers have been declining orders, showing up. Showing the order screen and just stealing the food
Fargirl
That’s genius! I mean... That’s terrible...
PanditSnuggler
My ex got caught doing this, too. In addition to other shady delivery tactics to keep the food like saying "delivery was too dangerous".
ohfudgecicles
Is THAT how that happens? I had a GrubHub voucher and treated myself to two huge subs one night - which were stolen TWICE by drivers.
asm80dfa8sdfj
How dare you treat yourself
happyishturtle
That's what you get for ordering such a good sub
InHarajuku
First and last time I ordered Uber Eats, the guy hit on me and then showed up at my house the next day even though I hadn’t ordered anything
ZoidbergIsGreat
Oh yuck... that's disconcerting
VBong
My door dash driver used the text the customer feature to tell me I was pretty..3x. I did not respond -_- the worst, he knows where I live.
InHarajuku
That’s the worst part—they’ll always have that info, there is nothing you can do, and you can never be sure when they’ll choose to use it
cardinal29
Creepy?
InHarajuku
Very.
Steveysaidthis
did he at least bring food the second time??
InHarajuku
Nope. He was wearing his Uber Eats backpack but it was empty, with the top flap open and flopping around. Saw on my security camera.
WeylandYutaniCorp
JFC, what's wrong with people. How does he not know he's being creepy?
Steveysaidthis
Wow.. that's just dodgy. 1) very glad you have cameras 2) being killed by a mental without even so much as a snack seems just rude!
ElbowDeepInAHoofbun
My attempt with UberEats, no update for two hours, then I get two messages back to back, "picked up" and "delivered". Email shows "route",
ElbowDeepInAHoofbun
car never left the dude's driveway.
ElbowDeepInAHoofbun
Took nearly a week of fighting with the app to get a refund, too. Almost forgot to mention that part. Was a $70 order for the whole group.
InHarajuku
Oh man that is awful. Sounds like the guy was used to it. Bet he thought his “trolling” was clever. Humans. Uhg.
