if you arne't protesting with violence, you aren't doing shit

"we'll keep protesting" great, tell me if it changed something in 3,5 years.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I love this dude. He’s been after Trump for a long time.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Press core is afraid of getting booted from the briefings

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

history shows the conditions for revolutionary mass uprisings are strictly material: food, shelter, diversion. pop culture presents a more melodramatic assessment: anger, injustice, revenge.
those more familiar with the latter will see a stage primed for revolution - emotions volatile, injustice great, compromise impossible. those familiar with the former will know that, sadly and somewhat inexplicably, these considerations do not move the masses. this is hard for the hyper-political to grasp.

he will tear his hair out wondering why more people aren't DOING something about this. he will invent treatises on the Apathy of the Digital Age. he will resort to the rank generalizations and low-hanging scapegoats usually reserved for his fascist enemies in desperate attempts to reconcile the gulf between his revolutionary expectations and his counter-revolutionary reality. but wait until the supermarkets look worse than COVID. that's when the people will finally start to care.

Get violent or get out Nothing has ever stopped with out violence. It sucks but it’s the truth.

Nah, since Washington

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This 47 is much worse than 45.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How long until they fire him?

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let me break it down for Americans.

When your government is controlled by fascists who have absolute and uncontested power to do whatever they want, it is too late for protest. Protesting means literally nothing. They will fucking round you up and have you disappear along with the other "undesireables" that they're already getting rid of.

You are now at the phase of either dragging the politicians out to guillotines or doing nothing at all. Because there are no alternatives left.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Finally, somebody is calling it out! 🙄

11 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

He's been calling it out for the past 10 years, "finally" is not the right word here.

11 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

People are screaming about this across every news outlet in social media. I was being sarcastic

This is far from the first time someone has called this out. The problem is that calling something out does absolutely nothing without concrete action. We need elected Democrats who have actual power to use that power. You can come to your own conclusion about why they are not doing that.

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I feel like if there weren’t oceans on both sides of the States, someone would have invaded by now to liberate the Americans.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

About a dozen or more years too late.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We should be calling out republican voters for allowing this.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? This is what they wanted.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imo. Nobody is holding them accountable. They need to be reminded that this was their vote until they get tired of being scolded and do something about it. Personally, I will no longer sugarcoat things with my maga family members and friends.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I guess I agree? I'm outright hostile to MAGA. I think the anxiety MAGA has shown around 'being punished for their politics' illustrates they are vulnerable to interpersonal consequences.

But I'm under no illusion that the cult doesn't WANT a strongman with immunity and unlimited power. He's their surrogate and represents their idea of supremacy, of COURSE they're cool any means to his ends.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is monstruous.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Protests aren’t doing shit and nobody seems to realize that except for the GOP. So they will keep pushing shit like they are in Texas and, before you know it, we won’t have any rights. The only way to change things at this point is forcibly, but nobody wants to do that either. So we all sit here, with our thumbs up our asses, wondering why nothing is changing as everything is stripped from us. Fuck the GOP, Fuck Trump, and fuck the Democrats for not doing a goddamn thing.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Finally! Some stern words from some media outlet were just what was needed to finally fix all of this.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What was under that link

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How long until MSNBC is no longer on air?

11 months ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 1

I give it less than a year before it's bought out by a billionaire.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, even in 1984 the Party understood the necessity of having a public "opposition" to maintain the illusion.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

This, basically.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

msnbc isn't hindering the trumplikkkans. they're preaching to the choir.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That would really piss off like a dozen people

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean.... I would not bet on this being the ONLY president who was friends with serial rapist.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s MSNBC, they call him out daily.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It will when it is big enough

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He finally had enough of the WH press corps. The sane part of the world already had enough of trump in 2015.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

LOL, so true!

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of the world had enough of him back in the 80s or 90s.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pretty much everyone who had already heard about him at that point I bet. As a non-American, I was blissfully unaware of any trump-related detail beyond his name up until 2015.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Practically the poster boy for villainous figures around the 80s.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeeeeah. I'm not about to throw my life away for a country I don't even like. It's not my responsibility to fix a rigged system that we inherited from a bunch of boomers that sold our future out from under us. My state votes against this bullshit every time, but red states cheat. This shit isn't getting better without violence, so I'mma just let it happen when it happens.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is that something new from today ? i lost track of recent events...

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Collaborators.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The last comment is very real. We're trapped in a national level Kitty Genovese situation, with everyone just assuming someone else will do something.

11 months ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 7

Except people actually did help her.

And let’s be honest, no one is assuming anyone else is going to do something. We know they won’t. We just don’t want to rock the boat or take the risk personally so we all pretend to believe that someone else will do something.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We are also just struggling to survive. We live paycheck to paycheck. Protesting first may mean losing your home. Losing your home may mean the police round you up. It also means if the economy contracts it may collapse and it won't be a peaceful type of "protest". Government crushing lives en masse and laughing about it? It'll be an explosion of desperation and anger.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

That should be the reason to do more than just protesting, not an excuse to do nothing.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not ready to die for these people.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I simply don’t have the means or skills to take him out. Waiting on assassins.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean, there's the question of what Can people do? Protest? People do.
Keep spreading the news about his many crimes? People do.

He was impeached twice and just ignored it.

So what can people do? He doesn't give a shit about what the people want, he has repeatedly shown himself to be above the law.

The only other option I'm seeing ends with getting shot by the secret service... And then getting J.D. Vance anyway.

11 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The only people who can actually do anything is congress. Enough gop members need to believe that if they support trump they will lose their seat. Then impeach. The Epstein situation is a real possibility. We will see.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Removing Trump will cause a power vacuum that will be filled with someone likely worse.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not sure about worse, so much as, equally bad in different & new ways. Then, there's the fall out. Like, fml.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's a good metaphor, but it's based on a myth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese#Inaccuracy_of_original_reports

11 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Oh well, then everything's fine and nothing bad will happen then.

Guys, it's okay! My metaphor was based on a myth therefore it's completely invalidated!

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 12

I said it was a good metaphor, you made the rest up yourself.

11 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You are correct. I lashed out emotionally without engaging my brain. I apologize.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Bystander effect on a national level"

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I won’t deny, pretend, or make up excuses. I have so much to lose, and people who count on me, and unfortunately that’s the end of the internal debate for me.

11 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Similar, but I also see this as 1/3 of the nation WANTS fascism, and they don’t care if it comes via pedo pres so long as it hurts others more than them.
There’s 1/3 or so that hate this but ALSO hate the notion of destroying our own society in the attempt to save it, so they protest and hope they can change the final 1/3s minds.

The final 1/3 are either too beaten/hopeless to be in the second group (hi!) or are idiots who believe their own ‘apolitical’ bullshit to care about the first group.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Its one of humanities greatest strengths and also worst failings. When we are told something terrible is 99% sure to happen we will cling on to that 1% until it kills us and quite often it does kill us or gets a lot of us killed. Today we could stop fascism with the sacrifice of a few hundred thousand, maybe a million max. Tomorrow we will almost certainly have to stop fascism and it will cost us 50-100 times as much, but because its not here yet, because there's still a fractional 1/

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Possibility of a miracle, we won't act. I personally am of the mindset that miracles and hope are the last refuge of the weak and the cowardly. For that opinion I am sometimes called bloody minded, a warmonger, a nazi and other things. Im not any of those things, what I am is a soldier and im a soldier with aspergers which perhaps makes me the perfect voice of necessary brutality. Whilst I do believe sentimentality and human compassion are vital, I think sometimes those things need a person 2/

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Such as me to give them room to flourish. There are some situations and some enemies that are only vanquished through sacrifice and blood, fascism is one such foe. I think its necessary to have some individuals like myself who bare a resemblance at times in our ruthlessness and detachment to our enemies but who are committed to defending freedom. So long as we are never invested with undue power, which is a mistake the west has made a lot over the years. 3

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Weirdly enough, that's the thought process that makes me do the things I can do to resist. My kids will not survive in the world he's creating. No one is coming to help us.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

While im aware this doesn't make your choice any easier and I am aware that being so far away its easy for me to say this; but look at Nazi Germany, or Fascist Italy or Imperial Japan or the USSR. The one unifying trait of all dictatorial regimes is that if they aren't stopped from within eventually they are stopped from without and in the last dying gasps of the regime they will throw you and yours into the grinder to try and save themselves. America might think its an exception to the rule 1/

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Because its so strong, but there's no amount of strength that can save you when your leaders are idiots. The nazi's could have won WW2 twice, once in 1940 and once in 1942, and they could have delayed defeat by making better choices in December 1941. They failed because Hitler was a moron who thought he knew something about strategy, just like Trump. 2

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

There's no shame in it. That's where a lot of people are at. The calls for a General Strike fall on deaf ears specifically because the past half century of economic policy have put all of us into survival mode. We can't risk rocking the boat without solid assurances rocking it won't cast us into the dark ocean and leave us behind in the process.

So long as it comes with the understanding that you WILL lose what you're currently protecting regardless. It's just buying time, that's all.

11 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

"There's no shame in it." There should be. There should absolutely be shame in letting the world burn because your only concern is for yourself and those in your social circle, neither of which will thrive nor be safe in the world you're allowing to burn. It's simultaneously selfish AND self-defeating.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Not sure why you got down voted. You made a good point. Never forget what MAGA did on January 6th and they were frigging pardoned for it by their cult leader.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Accusations like that can only be made from a place of privilege. And your carefully selected words "social circle" are chosen to minimize the reality that most people can't choose to starve, make homeless, abandon, or even make orphans of their family.

Which should go without saying would also be incredibly selfish.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Accusations like that can only be made from a place of privilege." Lmao. You don't know me or the life I lead, I can almost guarantee your dumb ass leads a life of luxury compared to mine.
"And your carefully selected words "social circle" are chosen to minimize"

My carefully selected words "social circle" are chosen to include friends, family, and other relations in a concise way, you presumptuous moron. Your family is fucked either way when you do nothing and pretend it's selflessness.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I stopped reading comment sections because you see "Thank you Mr. Trump! The greatest president in U.S. history" over and over and over again and it makes me physically ill.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bots. 98% are bots.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most are but I know people in the Trumptard cult from work personally and they worship him. He could rape and burn their children. It's bizarre.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking awful

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oooo, a white guy on TV is mad about this, shit's surely gonna change now. =: /

11 months ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 23

You're wrong. It's several white guys promoting the same agenda! Just because it's 3 toddlers in a trench coat shouldn't matter! They should speak on key notes, like Play-doh tasting being incongruent with the labeling...

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 13

White guy on a "news" network that was all in on destroying Bernie and propping up Biden. Remember when Chris Matthews said Bernie would hang him in central park? I member

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Of course he's mad and ya know how the old saying goes, nirhing really happens until it happens to a white person.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

He has been told he should be mad. He reads words other people wrote for him. If he doesn’t he gets fired. All the while his investments are doing well. Richer than 99% of the world population.

Isn't that Trump's origin story?

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He's on MSNBC, which the GOP people in power consider the Traitor Network of Commie Gays.

11 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Which is just another indicator of how evil the fundamentalist leadership is, and how shit brained the rightwing citizen has become. Painting the most blandly centrist corporate media outlets as radical leftists is all part of their plan.

11 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It’s sad when the American left wing is the conservative/right wing equivalent of most of Europe

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it's been that way for damn near a century

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. Nothing will change until Murdoch turns on Trump and really that'll just be a changing of the GOP guard.
