Even if there's no fuel left you still have a spark. Not the best for lighting like a cigarette or anything but its better than nothing

The spark isn't for cigarettes, but if you have something which catches an ember, you can start a fire from the spark

No I think the match wasn't screwed on tightly and it slowly leaked out and when he went to strike it went up in flames
