I would unironically do this. Let's get this bread.

A field guide to goths?

Let's call the Boxer Rebellion what it actually was: the Kung Fu Rebellion.

I really should re-read Thud.

Speaking of the past, hey, @zimirken, check your PMs, I think I found what you need for 3d printing the Sky Disc. Also, it turns out someone did a scan of the original artifact, too! Let me know which version works works best with your system and we can go from there regarding materials and such?

I just saw the trailer for The Return, with Ralph Finnes, about Odysseus' return to Ithaca. My little bronze-age obsessed heart is stoked for this. I'm actually going to track down a theater for it, I think.

Fermentation! The problem is now I have a fruit fly problem, for the first time ever. I tried making some traps using wine that's gone bad, but it's not working as much as I like. @TinyRavenFeathers' idea she messaged me won't work right now unless I halt all my fermentation and bottle everything long before it's ready. Waaaah. So I guess fly paper it will be.

I am currently fermenting another Prickly Pear Mead and one inspired by the Black Briar Reserve from Skyrim, and actually aging part of that in a barrel! And a Cyser as well.

In the works: a new Skooma idea [featuring Prickly Pear as the base], a cannibas-hopped mead that will also have Licorice root, mallow, safflower petals, and meadowsweet, called Scythian Warrior Girlfriend [v2].... a new version of Ea-Naşir's Quality Kugeštin Elixir, an Apricot/Rose/Lavender mead... oh yeah, and designing the recipe for Pando-monium.

Oh. And some Basswood honey I got in Wisconsin. Gotta ferment that too, but that's gonna be a standard mead with no other ingredients.

So far, for Pando-monium, I'm thinking Dandelions, Birch syrup (if I can find it], juniper, and... ??? If I had the special mushrooms, I'd use those in it, as someone commented that Aspens do have a special relationship with rhiozomal fungi... also Maybe I can source some honey from Utah for it? I'd love it if I could make it the color of aspen leaves in spring, but I have NO IDEA how to make a mead green. Could add some tumeric and make fall leaf color, though.

I'm trying REALLY HARD not to buy more fermentation vessels. So far, I am succeeding, but I do need to get more stoppers and the bubbler things, though. I accidentally melted my 2 gallon bucket I was using for storage on my stove top and lost a few. Oopsies.

Also, because I am too overwhelmed with everything for dating and because I'm too communist for dating apps.

I'm not Catholic, but some of these Luce memes are HILARIOUS and I am greatly amused.

I think this is an Elamite hedgehog statue.

I can't remember who made this, but you are awesome so I saved it and am now sharing it in a new post.

This was how Crassus was executed, and how I would also recommend that Musky gets executed.

Pterosaurs (aka "pterodactyls") are not dinosaurs, though are their closest relatives within Ornithodira, within Archosauria.

I would like this stick.

Hey look it's me.

Pippin tax!

Today's message from Pippin:

"What? Pippin! Pippin. Pip. In. Okay."

Have anecdotally heard candles are pretty good for getting rid of drosos, also have seen traps based on jam jars with drilled lid, funnel and vinegar/alcohol. Haven't tried either personally as I'm good for gas traps, just throwing it out there.

#38 sounds like a weapon they'd make in John Dies at the End. They already have a baseball bat covered in bible pages and spiked chains

Yep. Does kinda remind me of the episode where Bobby was hunting some bullshit that would require smth like meteorite blade dipped in blood of seven virgins on a blood moon or some crap, then he got into close fight with the monster and ended up yeeting it into fkin woodchipper, reducing the monster in a mist of blood. Good ol Buffy "that was then, this is now" vibe

Tractors aren't bad. You can just wait until they're asleep and tip them on their backs. The combine, though.... That MFr will get you

Combine, that's the word I couldn't remember.

Why waste energy on the blades? Just apply enough force.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Why waste so much energy on the force, just use rotary blades to cut the things smaller and realease it's liquids and fats for lubrication?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Explosive decompression could do the trick.

#4 I'd be worried that something had kidnapped and replaced Vimes if I were Carrot. The Man can't stop being a Copper even on a vacation to the country. He wouldn't tell Carrot to stop.

That's not "a" Northern White Rhino. It's "the" Northern White Rhino. That's why it gets a special guard. No fam left.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Without being a dick, that's what kind of makes this a waste of resources and an unnecessary risk to the guards lives. The northern white rhino is functionally extinct, there's no comeback at this time, for the sake of it's kind, this individual is 'useless'.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I largely agree. But I have read that this particular rhino has mated with several Northern Black Rhinos, and scientists hope that carefully controlling the mating of its progeny, they may be able to produce creatures that are nearly 100% Northern White Rhino after several generations. Good luck; I don't have high hopes.

It does depend partly on whether you are a lumper or a splitter, whether you consider this a subspecies or a species, as you say. In the case that that is unsuccessful I think it is quite reasonable to re-introduce southern white rhinos, South Africa and Botswana have lots of them, but if Kenya don't get their security game sorted then they would just be sending them to their miserable deaths.

If you've got 20 dollars to spare and a free outlet in the fermentation room, I've found Zevo traps to be very effective.

The Boxer Rebellion was literally martial arts cults fighting back against multiple international drug cartels. The fact that so few people in the US even remember learning about it in school simply highlights the failures of our current edu system. Like, seriously, do you know how hard you have to work to make that NOT interesting???

#37 the correct response is to say that your favorite dinosaur is a duck and see how she responds.

Or that my favorite dinosaur is A Pippin.

In the myth for the founding of Rome, Romulus (Romes mythological founder) and his brother Remus were raised by a female wolf who let them suckle her wolf milk. Female dogs are known as bitches so this terminology can also reasonably be applied to a wolf.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Note that the word for wolf, lupus, was also a word for prostitute, so think what you will.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jesus, is every mythic-thing surrounding Rome always unhinged? Lol. Were they constantly baked on acid?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

they used lead for piping for their drinking water, and took a bunch of mythic stuff from greece who could be even more unhinged (also rome once had a woman who is considered the first recorded serial killer raped to death by a giraffe)

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

To be clear, the punishment was probably more for regicide than for murder. But as always, Rome gets hella points for creativity.

There's no possible way the dude knew this, but I imagine the confusion shut him up anyway, so whatever works.

#37 so my whole life has been a lie with my favorite “dinosaur”. I don’t know what I’m doing anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If your second response would have been dimetrodon I have bad news for you.

I have yet to explore it in detail, but I've heard some paleontologists say that recent studies might provide evidence that pterosaurs are at least as much dinosaurs as sauropods (I think they were personally not convinced, but if the phylogenic evidence holds then if a brachiosaur and tyranosaur are both dinosaurs, then a pterosaur would be too)

#36 is unforgivably horny and I must admit I am reminded of the catastrophic anti-bullying poster, and I therefore must know if it is intended to be horny or if it is, like the catastrophic anti-bullying poster, an extraordinarily funny mistake
