That work is done pre-project. You can see the corner holes that are used for the alignment, but mostly he's just using the tub to y-align and tile edges for x-align.

Wipe it with soapy water before fully cured . Or denatured alcohol. Alt: mask the full paint area after cleaning and paint prep . spray Pam every where outside the mask. When done the paint won't have bonded well in the cooking spray areas and should wipe up.

Almost as if there is reason behind those design features and being able to identify characters without features and just colour is important
