200 zeroes? You mean an Overwatch tournament bracket?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Watched an actual zero flying a few days ago at an airport I'm stationed at here in California. Pretty neat watching it fly around.

Actually only 79 fighters but 353 aircraft, doesn't work w/ planes/bombers. https://www.census.gov/history/pdf/pearl-harbor-fact-sheet-1.pdf

Pedantic - but very few (43) of the 353 aircraft that attacked Pearl Harbor were Zeros. Most were bombers and dive bombers, not fighters.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Very true, not much use for a fighter if your cripple the airfields first, and yet, 200 zero’s above pearl harbour would still be a lot

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

200 Zeros would be scary, but I bet the Pacific Fleet would have preferred 200 Zeros instead of all the bombers and dive bombers.

I just realized this was the same dude in the beginning of Rogue 1....

I remember zeroes flying overhead for several days when I was a kid. They were filming Tora,Tora, Tora (-desu).

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

200 zeroes after a decimal point is definitely a lot (of confidence in the number)

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

IEEE 754 only has 52 bits of precision (for a 64 bit signed floating point number). That's a VERY precise number, could be massive or tiny!

Asians are such bad drivers I'm beginning to think Pearl Harbor started on accident.

Not for long…

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not surprised. The drinking water on ship usually comes with it's own mini oil slick. Makes pretty rainbows in the sun tho.

Came as a bit of a surprise

It did the first time, too.

I don't get it?

Zeros are the name of a Japanese plane. This is in reference to the bombing of Pearl harbor that brought us into world war II

4 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 0

Lol. Japan isn't real.

Which happened on December 7, 1941. FDR gave a famous speech about it.

The Mitsubishi Zero was a Japanese fighter aircraft used during WWII.

I visited the BMW museum in the late 1990s. They didn't appear to have been engaged in any business from the late 30s to mid 40s.

Someone sent them multiple certified letters requesting them acknowledge their participation in the holocaust. All were received and ignored

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why BMW will always be on my shit list. That and making truly garbage vehicles.

I've got an E46 M3 and an E90 328i that are both absolute tanks.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And thanks for the cue to look up their history. The Wikipedia article mentions they used slave labor from Dachau to build aircraft engines.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companies_involved_in_the_Holocaust possibly overexhaustive (e.g. coke selling in DEU) but wow
