You can dislike the options yet pick one that 1) does the least harm; 2) has some values/policies that align with yours; 3) share values/policies with people you care about; 4) is endorsed by people you care about; 5) is connected with a political party that has values/policies that align with yours or people you care about; 6) is a third party because none of these options appeal to you. There are so many ways to engage with voting, and all of them are legitimate. Not voting is cowardly.

It doesn't matter if you don't like either of them, you must still prefer one of their policies to the other. Not voting means you don't get to move the needle towards the least bad option, which makes it an incredibly dumb decision even if you dislike both candidates. And not voting down-ballot can affect you on a more local level.

To be fair, she said she didn't like either, not that they were equivalently awful, and it can suck to feel like you're voting for "the lesser of two evils." But no candidate is perfect, Trump is way, way, WAY worse in every way compared to Kamala, and by not voting, you're complicit in the actions of the winner, whomever that is, because you didn't participate in the most important thing an individual citizen can do: vote.

There wasn't time for a primary, and starting over on fundraising that late in the election cycle would be a death blow anyways. Democrats had zero winning options there, and at least managed to do better in downticket races (due to the funding that Kamala had access to but would have been gone had they changed to anyone else) than they otherwise would have.

First, that is an opinion piece. Second, in the clip, her laugh serves to communicate to the audience because she understands, at a subconscious level, that what she is saying will be controversial to some but she would like them to listen to the whole of what she is saying. This is a completely normal way to communicate. In this example, she never laughed at anyone.
