99.7% of Americans have PFAs in our bodies
What are PFAS?
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many other chemicals. PFAS have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe, including in the United States since the 1940s. They are found in water, food, living organisms, workplace and commercial products.
https://www.epa.gov/pfas/basic-information-pfas
What can they do to our body?
A growing body of science has found that there are potential adverse health impacts associated with PFAS exposure, including liver damage, thyroid disease, decreased fertility, high cholesterol, obesity, hormone suppression and cancer. These chemicals can easily migrate into the air, dust, food, soil and water.
Why Frank/ Dr Mantis Toboggan was the best choice?
- I draw parallels to frank selling guns and then selling water filters. https://youtu.be/1W398q3iChY?t=227
- Charlie's uncle had insecurity regarding his hands and in this video, Frank has insecurity regarding his mouth

This video doesn't make a lot of sense if you haven't seen the video that it parodies.
cattyordie
As a chemist who is currently studying PFAS data, I approve.

We are using Perflourethylen at work since 40 yrs. We clean big machine parts in PER Baths as we call it. Are you telling me it is bad?
kittypoopappledrink
Remember when Clair Patterson figured out lead was everywhere because we were assholes? We're still assholes.

Some more than others

John Oliver aired this on the latest episode of Last Week Tonight
MajesticCuttlefish
I'm, like, 100% GenX. :/
Spidey209
And yet we live to 80.
multibeasthillsdale
As a GenX, I am surprised these make up part of my being.
Illithidbane
https://www.ewg.org/interactive-maps/pfas_contamination/map shows a dot, >1000 ppt, where I grew up and drank well water. Fun.
manamongstyou
Persistent toxins are in 99% of the global population. Make sure if you check the toxicology reports if you are drinking well water.
SelfconsciouslyConfident
I googled it. This isn’t Danny Devito.
YesItIsMyRealName
It is - absolutely
thewalkinged
Could you share your findings with the rest of the class?

SelfconsciouslyConfident
I’m a fb scientist. So no.
RandomlyAppointedNSAAgent
TIL my dad is a PFA. Stupid GenXers
ElbowDeepInUserSub
Persistent Toxins are one of the greatest existential threats to humanity, and no one talks about them.
ARandySavageGifForEveryOccasion
But like we can make money for few years if we destroy generations of humans.
AlienNippleAntennae
Probably after the boomers die off?♂️I always get the well you have them and you look fine?♂️...until cancer or something worse.
badpetrock
The environmental remediation industry has been going nuts about PFAS and some other things. Mainly because they're everywhere and...
badpetrock
they're really stable. PFAS specifically require special materials to even sample. Shits crazy.
BarryTheCyborg
Even less is people talking about how Dupont knew they were toxic for decades and continued dumping them into the water
manamongstyou
They put workers back on the production line AFTER studying the chemicals and determining them to be toxic.
Makerofroads
Lol, I used to work for dupont.
baconthatisall
I did their litigation database, truer words have never been spoken.
MutantTurd
I live like a mile away from their old chemical plant in Chattanooga. Who knows what we've been exposed to.
Gaiashining
That’s true of all these massive corporations that are destroying the planet. They know they’re watertight and any compensation they might >
Gaiashining
> pay will be pocket change to them.
BarryTheCyborg
Only way to make them pay is with their heads
circlebreaker
Hypothetically speaking, scaphism is a stronger motivator. Put it all on a PPV live feed + use the proceeds to compensate victims of Dupont.

This post and its comments are making me feel like I'm having a stroke.
Hammertulski
Holy fuck, I am glad I'm not the only one. What am I supposed to do with this laugh track? What is...why is this set up as satire? WTF.
JollyRogarrgh
Embrace the surreal. Sl33p a lil longer and dre4m

Satire & comedy are dramatic art. Devito has a flair for the really absurd material too. It's all art dude.
Hammertulski
I mean, I'm British. Dry absurdism is my bread and butter. This...I am having trouble coming to terms with.
circlebreaker
Sometimes Devito just be that way.
Hammertulski
That's fair, and by all accounts, accurate.
