about driving 200 miles from our corporate headquarters about it but that surliness went away when they acrually tried to fix it and ended

LCDs can get burn in, the mechanism is different and it takes a lot longer than CRTs or plasma but it happens. OLEDs can get it too.
I mean technically it may not be burn in, but something degrades. There's a transistor and capacitor at every crystal element. Even if
the liquid crystal won't fail the other components might.
