"Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" - An 85 year old music video!

The Andrews Sisters were an American close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie eras. The group consisted of three sisters: contralto LaVerne Sophia Andrews (1911–1967), soprano Maxene Anglyn Andrews (1916–1995), and mezzo-soprano Patricia Marie Andrews (1918–2013). - From Wikipedia

Why colorized? Because on Imgur, colorized gets ten times the views as B/W!

Maxene (top left), LaVerne (top right), and Patty (center) in 1943 - From Wikipedia

Looked for this song for years because of En Vogue. Classic melody.

I posted this the other day and I regret to say I know both are down there in my favorites but the color one is definitely further up the pile. (Organize favorites? I can't even organize my real life!) The b&w one is better and might be in one of my recent dumps but see: lack of organization

Colourized gets more views than the original B&W? That's the main thing, right, the views? It's fake. Not as fake as gen-AI, but still not real.

So, you posted the AI slop version, AND the real version? Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't even post the real version, you posted ... shaky cell phone footage of a TV showing a clip from the real version?

I don't think I have ever seen the first video myself, I know the song well, but there is one thing that kinda bothers me about that video, the audience around the sister dont seem to have any rhythm at all, everyone seems to be "dancing" or clapping to a completely different temp from the song

My wife was surprised I enjoyed this show. At times, it very much feels like a "woman's romance novel", but it's a great period piece that asks neat questions and tackles hard to watch situations. The early seasons are better than the last few, but enjoyable regardless.

My husband and I referred to this as "The Naked Show," as in "Is there a new episode of the Naked Show on tonight?"

If this is 1941, it is pronounced Lavoigne, not Laverne /j

They used «Rum and Coca Cola» in the last season.

They were popular when my mom was a teenager and she said her dad, my grandpa, couldn't stand the newfangled music. Parents never change.

Their last appearance was on the Dean Martin show, shortly before LaVerne passed away. If you watch a clip of their appearance, Maxene practically holds LaVerne upright, as she was very sick at the time.

The Ladies has some issues between them over the years that probably held back their career. Nonetheless, they brought out some great music... 'Bugle Boy' would be my favourite.

I went and looked. Now that I know what to look for, it's very clear that she's struggling.

Was this colourized with AI? There's this weird uncanny valley vibe with how they move

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I was thinking the same thing. Probably entirely restored with AI, but at the very least, restored with computer

The uniforms change color half a dozen times. And it's slowed down a bit. Someone needs to grab a copy of «Buck Privates» on DVD and do it properly.

Oh yeah, the constantly shifting colors is a hallmark of AI coloring. AI bros will tell you this is more realistic than black and white.

Even if you could one-shot a T51B, you’re still just one guy against three knights and their squires. You’re gonna get Swiss cheesed.

I need to send this to my brother. One of his pet peeves is when servicemen in movies/TV shows wear headgear indoors.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My pet peeve also, so tell your brother a random internet person is on his side.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll let him know! There's generally two responses: 1) He's right! Why can't they hire a military advisor to get these things right? and 2) It's a movie, not a documentary.
