He's ready to either go out in the shed and grab tools, or he's about to go upstairs and grab a gun.

I thought every dad watched news and sports like this.
SamArt53
Friends mounted their tv that high (above a tall fireplace), their living room was only 8 ft wide, they also used it as a computer a lot.
We had dinner with them, watched one 30-min show and had neck pain all the next day. Plus only 3 people (on coach) could see tv in room.

Remember that Doomsday prepper crazy Jack? He's just called Jack now.

And in other news, GameStop is self-declaring itself an essential service by staying open while its employees &customers are expendable. ->
But hey, maybe there's a legitimate reason, presuming Jim got his facts right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_TXSplP2xs

Or he’s losing at a video game.
ElbowDeepinaTinyOctopus
Oof. 9/11 flashbacks there.

He’s probably over 60. The virus is an inconvenience to the young, a death sentence to the elderly.

He’s going to clear his throat loudly and start pacing any second now.
JustGoWithIt191
This is just how my dad watches tv, that man can't relax
skeletonjane
Last time my dad did this was on 9/11.
koflan
You know, the situation is, bad, when, dad watches the, TV, like, this.
JT1980
Y'all need to get the man a bigger Television cuz he can't see it from the recliner.
TieRod2
Yep. First time I remember my dad watching the news like that was during the gulf war in 1990. Don’t think he sat much as i recall
Aathas
this is the gaming equivalent of leaning forward in your chair
SnossedAndLost
Been practicing my intense smash skills while laying all the way back. Turns out I can still crush it. I gave up PC gaming, i dont think i >
< could ever not be leaning way too into it. Fuckin league...

My science teacher was standing like this in front of the TV when i entered the class on 9/11/2001. It's seared into my head. OP is right.
mentalhazord
My Math teacher did the same thing! You could just see it in them they know shit is about to hit the fan.
thedieselbus
He must have small children that block the TV. Mine is that high so I can see over the kids playing. It keeps it out of breaking range too.
xVVitch
I just opted to not have kids to avoid this issue

Also saves money and you're not selfishly helping kids into this hellhole for your own pleasure/pride. Thank you for your service!
Saves my sanity too so don't thank me, yall don't need just another person like me who does nothing but have panic attacks.
Faasel524
He's up and ready for action. He's not sure what action just yet, but this shit is too important to sit down for.
iScreenshotProfiles
Lol my vote is he can’t read that shit, and usually just doesn’t care.

Hey, stop talking about me like I wont hear it.

Even standing up, that TV is way up too high to watch! Do everyone in that house have a chronic neck-pain?

This reminds me I need to lower my TV down by about 6 inches... It does put a strain on your neck after a while

If you're so esteeeemed I'd expect you to have one already dangling from your vest pocket.

There was a condition back in the late 80's called 'Nintendo Neck'. Suffered by kids that sat on the floor to play Nintendo on their CRT TV.
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
Those low entertainment centres were common at the time, at least where I lived. Only one or maybe two drawers below the space where the /1
TV goes. I guess the kids whose parents put it up on a high bureau were out of luck. /2
edxmon
I miss those days... the carpet was so much more comfortable than he couch.
Nize426
For us it was more about cable length limitations.
Zaayl
The number one thing I miss about being a kid was the ability to sit anywhere for an extended period of time.
pandorafalters
I can still do that, but now I lose all feeling in my legs after about 5 minutes. It's moving afterward that's the problem.
Maleae
I miss those days too, back when I didn’t have back pain
