This is probably best paired with the official statement from the company. They provided fuel to all US forces in Norway.

"US Submarine. Go fuck yourselves!"

What sort or furl was that nuclear sub looking for….

They should kick US troops out of bases in Europe.
It’s obvious now that there is no point in having US troops in Europe because they will not be a deterrent for Putin.
In all honesty they may even be a liability to Europe depending on how compromised Krasnov is by Putin.

America had been sanctioned for being asshole.

Are we asshoe?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

We have been asshoe for a long, long time. 9/11 was a terrible, preventable, but somewhat *provoked* tragedy.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe
But this time it’s far more concerning.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ohhhhh you get consequences in real countries.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hi @op @zoraniko
Don't know the origins of this story but it went viral on X, spread by Russian bots etc. likely to further divide NATO and empower MAGA. Statement from Norway's Minister of Defense

The Law of Unintended Consequences

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every nation in the world needs to follow suit.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good, push back world. Push back to the point where the US government has no other option but to fold to the political pressure or fall victim to the wrath of the people.

2 years ago | Likes 240 Dislikes 0

and the fucking clown show has just begun. i still can't believe the mfer got elected AGAIN.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Retaliation for an outrage, but fuel for aux engine is vital part of war condition. Denial of fuel to a NATO ship might be a treaty issue.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 16

If Trump doesn't want to take part in any joint actions and pull out of the treaties, he's gotta realise he isn't immune to FAFO

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Not when the us is actively undermining nato already.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

would you serve water to a person actively trying to stab you just because they're already in your house?

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The US is actively fucking over its allies of over 60 years because of a psychophant. He doesn't give a shit about NATO or any signed treaties

Telsa would build one but only good for 400 miles

If WW3 does break out. I would just like to apologize for my fellow Canadians. For we will absolutely be comitting warcrimes against any soldier who steps over our border, and they'll be so heinous that it will redefine the very concept for future generations.

Again, I'm sorry. But it's at the point that anyone who follows Trump's orders is simply complicit in his fascist reign.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck them up. There's no excuse to come up there. Any that do are part of the problem and deserve it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The sub had to Halt and go Bakk because of the Bunker bitch.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Btw, "The Australian" is a right wing newspaper that's part of the Murdoch publishing group, so for this news item to actually appear is... interesting. It used to be a great paper, but it now just sprouts murdoch crappola and anti-left sentiment.

Bunker fuel companies don't refuel nuclear submarines. It takes a year and a half, and involves, you know, uranium.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Other countries should eliminate all American forces on their soil.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Love it, push back against the US.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Norway refuses to refuel Russian ally.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trump isn't just backstabbing Americans. He's doing it to all our allies too. And since our own leaders are either incapable of or unwilling to push back, they should should all start treating us like the enemy we've become.

thanks for the paywall link

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Also, if ever you come across those annoying paywall articles, use a site like archive.is to generate a non-paywall version. A few really helpful users around here that have been updating many of us on world events use that to bypass that tripe.

The submarine doesn't seem to have much to do with it. The sources covering this story are a little sketchy. Maybe they just slapped a US ship currently in the region on the story?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty much. The company refusing to refuel US ships has already said no ship has been affected. Also not that it would even affect a nuclear powered submarine which only uses a tiny amount of diesel for a tiny emergency backup diesel generator that is never used outside of testing it and actual emergencies.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Submarine wasn't wearing a suit.

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Submarine did not thank fuel ship for all of their journey so far, before getting fuel..

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Lots of articles in foreign news sources, zippo in US media.

2 years ago | Likes 143 Dislikes 1

This is fake news from X. Nuclear subs don't need fuel. Statement from Norway's Minister of Defense saying this is not true

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Haltbakk Bunkers is a private company, and can sell to whom they please. The government of Norway, as per your citation, will continue to see that US ships receive supplies as needed. Whether or not a specific sub was already turned away seems to be a matter of contention, but the Virginia class sub is equipped with a auxiliary diesel generator as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia-class_submarine#Propulsor (see "other improved equipment").

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, because US media = Billionaire media. They have no interest in telling the ugly truth when outrage, distraction, and misinformation are far more profitable.

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

I mean, it's not JUST US media. Plenty of billionaire owned media worldwide

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

US media is waiting until they can spin it as a "betrayal by our allies" and "support for a cockpotato" to drum up support for war against ba sing sei.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Lots about the company issuing the statement they won’t refuel US ships. Not much creditable about this specific sub being affected, that is mostly repeating of a tweet

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Of course, the article is behind a paywall

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you come across those annoying paywall articles, use a site like "archive.is" to generate a non-paywall link. A few really helpful users around here have been sharing that while updating many of us on world events.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To clarify: while the US Sub fleet is nuclear *powered* it still needs various grades of lubricating oils and greases to make sure things like propeller shafts keep turning and machinery keeps running.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Submariner here. Dont get ahead of yourself. We stock that stuff in home port and we know how fast it gets used. It feels less likely to me that they ran out of grease, more likely that they were doing diesel ops and had scheduled a top-off. Unless youre in the know about something, best to not spread rumors.

Curiosity beckons - are these type of actions going to meaningfully have any impact?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I didn't mean anything beyond "We use petroleum products all the time, even on nuclear boats."
