I saw it was garden and lawn day. I'm currently sitting on my gazebo deck and thought I'd share my view. There are lots of secret spots in my garden. But I guess you guys are cool enough to see my favorite one. :)
I spend most of my time out here tending to the pond and Koi and the garden. I'm happy to have it since I was laid off in April.
I didn't design this garden. I inherited it when I bought my house. It's older than I am. But I've been tending it and making secret spaces in it for over a year now.
I've got a back injury so I didn't go take pictures of everything, but if there is interest I'll take more photos when I do my rounds tomorrow. :)

There's a book called "My Secret Garden " . You should check it out.

This looks like a place I saw on Long Island of all places. That looks like an incredible place to relax
Fayen
@TheInternetNeedsMoreCats Your secret garden needs more cats. Also may I live in there, please?
LoveDjinn
Can I come float in the pond with the Koi?
FattsoCattso
It’s so serene
KevinBlevenstein
FANTASTIC! I love all of the different species of trees - this is just an amazing sanctuary.

I'm jealous... do you want a garden hermit?!
epicurusaquinas
I like. Living art. Wow!
PrincessWendyB
So much beauty packed into such a charming spot! I am most impressed. If you invite me over I will bring the wine, food, and flowers.

Your garden is magical. 🤩
ParallelParkingInABurka
Holy cow, that looks fantastic!
DarkfireDragon
That's amazing! If you're free this weekend would you mind coming over and doing my backyard?

With or without lube?

I'm so jealous, are you into gardening at all? I have a large garden but I refuse to spend thousands putting it together so it's a slow process of cultivating, moving things, etc.
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
I admit that one of the reasons I bought this place was because the garden was already established and just needed someone to tend it. Honestly, I've never been successful starting a new garden ( aside from miniature bonsai gardens). There is a running joke that I kill everything green I try to raise. This garden just requires a ton of pruning and clean up through the year. I can do that, but it's 2.7 acres, so it's literally an every day job.
Clymenus000
This is gorgeous in every way. Please take more photos!
Sanivia
that costs how much?
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
I'm not sure how much building the garden cost honestly. The couple designed the garden said they pulled in a lot of favors with friends that had heavy machinery to dig the pond and used the rocks and boulders they found on the property. Then they would just buy a plant and sapling tree each time they went to the nursery, plant it, and see if it survived. They did this slowly over 40 years.

This looks very PNW - I adore it!
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
It is! Semi-rural Washington State. :)

Hello from Kitsap, neighbor!
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
Greetings from Lewis County!
Killickthere
Is it a natural stream trickling into the pond?
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
No I wish, just a really big man made one. I'd love a natural stream, but at least this makes it easier for me to control the water quality of the pond for the fish.
cannotthinkofcoolname
We have a Japanese Garden in my city. It's not anywhere as nice as your backyard.
gerdawr
Is that a statue, or a live heron gazing hungrily at your fish?
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
It's a decoy. Herons are very territorial so if they see a heron is already at the pond then they'll keep flying. I need to move the decoy to a new spot each morning or else the real Heron might figure it out!
Ratman72
Oh wow, I would love something like this.
Flowerlady0
I live under the bridge. It's beautiful here.
onecowboytoo
Guess it isn't a secret anymore.
Crazyaussiecanadian
I bet the old owners / original designers or that garden are so happy to have you there, looking after it so well. You are doing an amazing job.
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
I think so, they are our neighbors now. They are building a smaller scale garden in their new place now. This one was too much for them in their old age.

There is interest! More pics! More pics!

Who needs a job when you're clearly royalty
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
Oh man, I wish. Not gonna lie, when I was laid off I did wonder if I could switch careers to something that would allow me to essentially be some kinda witch in the woods lol. But I've not figured that out yet. Boo.
ItSeemsYouHaveSufferedaTerribleFate
I suppose a remote job would sort of allow that haha. I can't blame you when you have such an absolutely beautiful garden

Aw fuck, you have what I want. ERGH MOTIVATION fine I'll do capitalism. This is bullshit
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
I did the capitalism, burnt out, traded everything I had to get this. I still have to participate in capitalism, but it's easier to handle an anxiety attack in a quiet garden than it is trapped in stop and go traffic for a 2 hour commute to my cramped, loud, crowded suburban sleeping pod. Thank God for the working from home revolution and a rural place with decent internet. Capitalism has to change.

Right now, I have solace in the third floor of an uptown city apartment. It's a single building with 3 units, as far as landlords go I won the lottery, and the presence of my partner and my pets makes things better. But I yearn for a place in the quiet pines up north where I can have a little garden and a koi pond. One day. Motivation to get me through the job hunts and the interviews and the disappointment and getting consumed like everyone else.
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
God speed my friend. I'm glad you have loved ones to help ease the stress.
mksu
I'm pretty sure that's a rock, but I 100% thought you just had a gator chilling in your pond and poking its head out.
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
Haha. That's Al Pacino. The fake gator to scare predators away from my fish flock. (Keep it a secret though, I don't need the wildlife on imgur finding out)
buffalowineguy
Al Pachewno.

It's too late; I, a bigass fox, will be swinging by later tonight
TheInternetNeedsMoreCats
If I leave out some lox and socks in a box, will that appease you instead, bigass fox?
PinkSheep4Lyfe
Yes. Also green eggs and ham
