UK Webley-Kaufmann

Chambered for the Government's Enfield Mk II cartridge, Webley's revolver was marketed to army officers. It loads and unloads on the same top-break principles as the previous No.4 "Counet" pattern revolver. The core difference, however, was the inclusion of Michael Kaufmann's patented lateral plunger release. The lockwork was the same as the British Enfield revolver, as designed by Jean Warnant with the English patents held in Kaufmann's name. Unlike the No.4, which had an open back frame and single grip, this revolver is a solid frame with a pair of stock plates. Ultimately the "Improved Government" title was debatable in this early pattern, as they had a tendency to blow open under inertia after wear. The design would be updated later on.
