She's a sweetie.

And that is all.

MV edit: love people for who they are, and vote Democratic in November and until the heat death of the universe.

#2 please tell me you sent her that

I read that as “grandmother” at first and thought: “nice”

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kinda strange how it has to be notable that we accept people for things that are none of our business.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't care who my son dates as long as he's safe, healthy, happy, and doesn't make me socialize.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's just an orientation. Assumptions & mistakes will be made by the other 95%(+/-) of people, no biggy if there's no hate behind it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

only question that should matter when asking about who someone is dating: are you happy?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I was pretty sure my grandaughter was gay by the time she was 9. She confirmed it at 13. She's 18 now. I have always loved her unconditionally and that ain't changing...

I watched Love on the Spectrum, and I loved how the younger generation can just go on a date, consider how it went, think "maybe I like girls?", go on a date with a girl, decide that they were straight all along, and go on with their lives knowing themselves a little better. It doesn't have to be this big deal that we've made it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I might be a bit concerned to learn if MY grandma dated boys and girls because that implies they're young and also she's dead.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s a two-edged sword though. On one hand they have twice the options, but on the other they can be doubly alone/rejected.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Then there's polyamory to add into the mix for some people.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

My kid is non-binary and they asked me if accepted their pronouns of they/them. Easiest and fastest yes of my life. It took 6 months of conscious practice before it became natural, and I still slip.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well she is a pedophile, so there is that. /s I keed, I keed...

#2 Ackschyually, orientation and identity are two completely different things.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

different, yes, but not *completeley* different. Sexual orientation (or non-orientation) is part of who you are.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh, right. I just automatically read "identity" as short for gender identity. How silly of me.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

🏳️‍🌈

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

That has nothing to do with identity.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

One day we won't have to care about sexual orientation. Our children being LGBT will just as unimportant as them being left or right-handed. We're getting there! Slowly, but we're getting there. Conservatives back in the day abhored the idea of gay people, but now they're going "Back in my day, we just had gays, and we were happy!".

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ha Coservatives back in the day abhored left-handed people

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don’t tell us, tell her.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I read that as "hates" in the thumbnail. I thought something like, grandpa going "Hell yeah, my girl! Reject humanity!"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My kids both turned out very gender stereotypical, cis, and straight. Somehow I was the one who turned out trans and gay, which I didnt even realize until they were teenagers, so they actually had to be the ones to accept *me* after *I* came out. Lol

2 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 4

So how did that go?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Little awkward, to be honest. I think they (especially my daughter who was 17 at the time) went through a bit of a grief period over feeling like they lost their mother. And it was a bit painful because for years my daughter wouldn't tell most of her friends about and I never got to meet them. She's 22 now and is a lot more open and comfortable, but yeah, there were definitely some bumps along the way and I'm sure it is still hard for them both sometimes, but for the most part all is well!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Glory to you and your identity, and them and theirs.

You bring great honor among your house.

They made an Imgur post. Wtf else could you possibly want?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Considering a bunch of people can't even manage that, I'd rather have that than the other option.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

What more could be done?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

When my friend's grand daughter brought her girlfriend to a family dinner the grandfather didn't bat an eye. Afterwards he took his granddaughter aside to find out exactly what pronouns to use.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My son says he's pan. My description, he'll sleep with anything that's legal.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My daughter came out as a man a few years ago. I was worried - losing my daughter. And then I realised I never had one in the first place and he was still the person he'd always been.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Here’s the thing about having a GLBT family member, especially a child.
They’re gonna be who they are, whether you approve them or not.
So why not let them be who they are and be a positive part of their family, rather than them being who they are without you in their life?

It really comes down to that.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If I had a gay kid or grandkid I'd say tough shit, you're still expected to carry on the family. Of course that doesn't mean you have to specifically birth them, my family has practiced adoption for generations. I'm only blood-related to about half of my generation of my extended family.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 16

This sounds like a Crusader Kings player if I've ever heard one!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? Who are you to dictate whether others want to be parents. Thats ick.

You chose to have kids, but you don't own them. They're human beings who get to make they're own decisions regardless of you. Fuck the family line.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

That's... not acctually very accepting.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Adoption is a fantastic thing to do and anybody who does it responsibly is likely a wonderful person. But I would argue that someone having a child, biological or adopted, who doesn't want children is vastly irresponsible and should only be advocated for in case the alternatives are worse. Because someone who doesn't want children will likely resent them if they are forced onto them, even if they love them. Not everybody wants children.

I dunno man. I am vehemently child free for my own life. If my family tired to pressure me into something terrible for me I'd rethink the whole relationship. Maybe don't try to pressure someone into doing something YOU think is valuable. If THEY want to then great, but if not it should also be great.

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

It IS their choice, and I certainly wouldn't love them any less or anything, but it WOULD be a pretty big disappointment. I mostly just meant you don't a free pass by saying "sorry I'm gay I can't MAKE babies" TOO BAD, FAMILY IS LOVE, BLOOD IS JUST TRIVIA.

I actually don't even know if I'll have kids. My sister has seven. She birthed three, got her tubes tied(which makes sense to me after three), and then ADOPTED four more, so the "The Next Generation!" pressure is pretty much nonexistent, now.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

the number of adopted kids just sorta happened. Three of them are bio-siblings and she wanted to make sure they wouldn't be separated, and the fourth was an emergency foster situation, and they had her since the day she was born, so like.. okay yeah, pack bonding has already occurred, she's family. I don't understand having seven children, but having seven nieces/nephews is great! All the fun of having kids, none of the responsibilities, and they all treat my visits like a beloved holiday.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

My sister is a WONDERFUL mother. If you dropped by her house for a visit today, you'd assume they'd all been together since birth. Oddly enough, I think the seventh(the emergency foster baby) helped the two trios bond, because ALL of them absolutely adore that little girl. It's so cute how they all fawn over her.

It's tickles me that Gowron is embraced as a symbol of acceptance.

2 years ago | Likes 409 Dislikes 4

The actor is onboard too.

Gordon started as a lowly soldier, fought his way to General, exposed a plot by the Dominion, teamed up with someone called traitor for his father's false crimes to overthrow the government.

Kor is the accepting Klingon

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In all of Star Trek, I feel like there're better options. Gowron broke Klingon traditions when it suited him. He's kinda just a little bitch

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

Jadzia or Bashir would definitely be more appropriate memes.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or Kor if you wanted to keep the Klingon theme.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people. If you're doing it only for yourself and complain if it's for someone else, that's hypocrisy, but breaking traditions because it's convenient is not a bad thing in and of itself.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

That's... Pretty much what Gowron did, though? He claimed his rule using traditional Klingon rights, then wanted to hold off on restoring Worf's rightful honor because it would jeopardize his position... He then later proceeded to jeopardize his entire empire during a war because somebody was more favorable in the eyes of his people than he was. There's a reason Worf had to do what he did.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

All Klingons except Worf did that, and Worf is a gigantic boring nerd.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Ikr?! I felt like worf in the movies and in Picard was drastically more interesting

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s kinda the most fascinating part of Worf… As a child, everything he knew of Klingon culture was curated as stories and legends and idealist descriptions. He never knew what other Klingons were really like until after his morality was firmly established. His human upbringing isolated him from corruption.

In an ironic sense, he’s the only Klingon to actually have the honor they claim.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And yet Worf was a kingmaker for basically all of the Klingon leaders during his adult life...

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Main character syndrome.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

So do the events of the series matter or not? The whole point was that Worf conducted himself honorably even during his dishonor. You can just argue this way and that so that it suits you, but at the end of the day the events of the series are what happened.

Dates both boys and girls.... at the SAME TIME?!?

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

Best way to do it.

Sounds like a good use of time if done correctly, and without cheating.

There's ethical non-monogamy. Archie did it, so why not?

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Polygamy is good

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If it's consensual, non-hierarchal, and open to each member of the party then yeah

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The ONLY way it'll work!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I seriously question the ethical part of that. Now don't get me wrong, I can see enm being a thing, but the problem is every polycule I've ever seen irl reeks of coercion. Ik ik anecdote vs evidence, but I just don't see the evidence of it. We are incredibly manipulative as a species. I just don't see it as ethical.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Are these people in the relationships your friends that you've witnessed this level of coercion? And were the circumstances off, like high age gap, maturity level, income gap, abuse. Things like that are common in branches. You also see it more in MWW polycules. Much less so in WMM. In my circles most of my friends are poly, but they are also all on even ground because that's also how you keep a regular relationship growing. But that's also just my anecdotal evidence. It can be really healthy.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Usually the more gay and/or neurodivergent you are the better it works ;)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm legit a pan intersex trans woman with adhd. I can only do mono

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know only one poly relationship, and they're super happy and thriving. I don't think it's for everyone. I think most humans are designed for monogamy. But for the few outliers a lot can make it work. But, and this is an important but, I don't think monogamists can make a poly relationship work out of wanting. Everyones gotta be poly, genuinely poly, for it to work. Cuz sometimes it's just someone who wants to fuck around, or someone who wants to make things work, and it doesn't.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Frankly a good number of monogamous relationships I see irl reek of coercion. Doesn't make monogamy unethical.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

This. Exactly

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a fair argument, but, the qualifier i think that separates these two is I've seen a lot of both mono and poly relationships. I've seen coercive and non coercive mono rels. I've never seen a poly rel that didn't have someone being coerced into it. Anecdote vs evidence ik but I just don't see the evidence that enm is actually a thing. Happy to be wrong in any event.
