Handsome as fuck

I actually have a typewriter

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You’re buying key caps for those interested. Not a keyboard. You need to already have a keyboard with standard swappable key cap like cherry

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

neat

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Glad you like it. It doesn’t tickle my fancy but as long as you’re happy with it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow, you didn't like it and was able to refrain from insulting me. I'm impressed.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DUUUDE! Please tell me, @op, that it FEELS like an old Royal typewriter?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, It FEELS like an old Royal typewriter!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice! Gotta get me one! = )

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is awesome. just bought a new keyboard, but this looks so cool.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Hope you enjoy yours!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I quite like it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great until food and hair start getting stuck inbetween the keys. Cool keyboard though.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

it happens to all keyboards. on a mechanical board like this, all the keys have their own switch so u can pull them out and clean the shit

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But if the keys are framed you don't see al the dirt which ends up between the keys and you can clean ones in a while

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe that the openness of the set up should allow it to be cleaned easier a can of air cleaner. The keys popping off helps.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

And I don't eat over it. So that should help.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I agree with the other commenters, this design would be much easier to clean than a traditional keyboard.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

no, the last person that posted this got a new keyboard

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP Do the keys seem to stay on, I stand my keyboard on it's end. I use a 4K TV for a monitor in the front room.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you push the key caps down on the switch and they stay on with friction.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It does make a qwerty look awesome.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How practical?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dont get me wrongs its cool

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's no more practical than the keyboard I had before. This was purely an aesthetic upgrade.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man, I thought it looked awesome, and then you showed me the shitty blue LEDs all over it, and I was sad.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Then buy the black or white ones with no back lighting.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't have to have the light on. And I actually haven't actually had it on much.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But the keys are not translucent, so what's the point of backlit?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks sweet, how does it feel though?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Feels nice man.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

looks great, but how does it feel? no point in having a good looking keyboard if it's rubbish to type on.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is a slight adjustment period. But I'm really enjoying it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice, glad it's working out for you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would appreciate a review post at some point, OP!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like that fake chrome that wears down to clear plastic after a month of touching it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh shit that’s bad ass

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Thanks, i really dig it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where did you get that and how much was it? :) I love it. Does it make an old type writer sound or something?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Amazon. $60.oo total. It's very clicky, but quite like a type writer. I am still very happy with it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's pretty cool. Not that I would spend money on something like that, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucky yours works, mine was broken.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's too bad. Can you get a refund/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not worried, I bought a knee board.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They had a broken keyboard, I bought a broken keyboard

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll be buying it next paycheck

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So did you order it or nah?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go for it!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How do the caps feel typing on them? Are they flat? Bowed in a little?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Each key is a bit concave. But the rows are flat. And they feel really nice. Hope that helps.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Windows and Ctrl keys are swapped! I could never get used to that.

8 years ago | Likes 263 Dislikes 3

You can swap them back and remap the keyboard pretty simply.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you look at the item on Amazon by default they CTRL key and Windows key are in the default locations.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Open that idiot Cortana in listening mode when you want to copy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fixed. Must have been an oversight in my excitement. Thanks for pointing that out.

[tries to crouch to avoid gunfire] [start menu opens, game loses focus] [dies in game] [dies irl]

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

I always map my crouch to C. Using my pinky on ctrl is too awkward for me

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Press CTRL with the side of your palm, right below your pinky knuckle. Works for me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like this idea!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Changing key caps doesn't change them on the computer

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There is a switch PC<>Mac on the side of the board. Wonder what that would do.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you Captain Obvious.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had assumed it was built with the keys swapped, thus swapping their actual functions

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't? DAMMIT!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I usually remove the Windows keys on my keyboards.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

Linux + i3 master race here, the Windows key is even more useful when not using Windows. What I do disable is Caps Lock, that key is useless

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I usually remove the keyboards from my windows keys.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

control + escape does the same thing

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

But you can't do Win+R to open a run dialog, or do window snapping with the keyboard

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I would argue that a vast majority of Windows users have never touched a run dialog

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Very true, but I work in IT, and use the Win key and the run dialog all the time

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why? That key is almost as useful as ctrl or alt for me...

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

He’s probably a gamer

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

So am I, and I keep the Win key. Most of the time I don't even disable it while in-game and it's fine.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some of my games don’t like that button, so I used SharpKeys to disable only my left windows key. Solved my issues

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I couldn't function without the windows key tbh.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

meh I just alt tab. unless I'm missing some function of the windows key other than minimizing at the worst possible time.??

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here, I think I know every single keyboard shortcut and working IT, I use it a LOT

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

how do you lock your computer then?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ctrl+Alt+Del then click Lock, but I prefer Win+L myself, way faster and it's just muscle memory

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Click? Ctrl+alt+del then enter! With the hardest most forceful slam I can muster

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Didn't know you could just hit enter after Ctrl+alt+del. Either way that's 4 keys. Win+L is two and saves a fraction of a second of my life

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Start menu

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And how are you supposed to open the Start menu without the Win key?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

click?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But.. that takes so much effort. To use your hand to move the cursor all the way there and even click a few times. I'm way too lazy for that

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It sounds lazy, but I'm right there with you. I work in IT and lock/unlock my computer so many times a day that Win+L is just muscle memory

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where did you get it?

8 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What keyboard did you put your caps onto?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was going to say, "did you enjoy spending $300 on a keyboard?" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07876GNF3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_clmAAbVJKBXVG

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

To be honest, I like mine better. And it was cheaper too.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well I mean did you try the other one too?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MSLTWW9 shorter link. All amazon detail pages work like that. Just need the ASIN.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neat. Explain how I do that please?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Product URLs for Amazon are always https://www.amazon.com/dp/{ASIN} THe ASIN is usually listed in the product details and always 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 appears in the URL. They usually start with B0. Once you can find them you can shorten any product URL.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. This one not having been fondled in front of others.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

His last name comes from the typewriters.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And he has his own buttons. Still...not the same thing.

Any idea where I might get one?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

An Underwood typewriter? I got you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An Underwood? A local thrift store actually has a No. 5 going for $150 I think.
