A couple of weeks ago my partner poured some used coffee grounds on the plants outside. I watched and said, from a plant persepective that's pretty fucked up. How so, was the response. Well, I said, what you have is coffee embryos, which have been holocausted; after which we've steeped them in water and drank the effluent, and now the ground and burnt coffee embryo corpses are being fed to theoretical siblings (ok, we don't grow coffee bushes so that's the bit that reaches).
It's bewildering to me that people can be so dainty and weak. They're fucking tiny ass fish and once fried It's like eating a fishy french fry... this is super common all over the Mediterranean. Italy, Spain, Greece, France... we all eat these small fried fish whole. I'm amazed by your lack of curiosity. What do you normally eat? Boxed mac n cheese and boiled carrots?
(if these are smelt) all the internal bones and organs are so small and delicate that they can be easily eaten. Just make sure you cook it properly and it'll be fine. You can eat the whole thing.
That was my first thought. Not the eyes. Years ago on vacation in Maine we were friends with a lobster man and he brought over a bunch of lobster. Me being the oldest (12) was constantly being harassed my younger brothers, and they stole some snacks I bought with my money. I took all the little black eyes out of the cooked lobsters and put them in a candy dish. I told my brothers they better not touch the dark chocolate sprinkles I was saving for later. I left the room. 1/2
2/2. An hour later, the sprinkles were gone and my brothers mocked me by saying they were the best sprinkles they ever had. I didn’t tell them they were lobster eyeballs until we were seated in a big restaurant with our parents and they told us to behave. I whispered to one brother that the sprinkles he ate were lobster eyeballs. Reactions as the word spread ranged from muted screams, anger and gagging noises. A proud moment for me.
Smelt/anchovies/sardines don't need to be gutted, their organs and intestines are so small that at best there is a very marginal bitter flavor that's barely noticable. Their bones are so small and soft that they just disintegrate when chewed. Their scales are likewise so thin that it isn't noticeable, especially fried.
TL;DR live slightly outside of your delicate comfort zone, it'll be aight.

But there would always be some left behind, just waiting to jab into the mouth. Don't know about the organs though, we beheaded and gut them like any other fish.

The size in the vid though is gutted and head removed and then fried. The meat separates from bones kind of by itself. Wonder if its the same with those.

Western people will probably uncomfortable about bones in whole fish, but for Asian it's not that big of a deal, it's like eating sunflower seeds to us, we can just spit out the bones If needed. The bones of the small fish in the OP post are probably crunchy and edible.

Completely normal to eat small fried fish whole in all of southern Europe as well. In Italy they call them "mangiatutto" and are very common in "fritto misto".

Quite true. I'm a Western people and although I generally dislike bones in fish there are some exceptions, sardines being one. But one of the best bar snacks I've ever had was in a Japanese Izakaya. Chef had boned some small fish to serve as sushi or something and instead of throwing the skeleton out, he seasoned and deep fried them. Magnificent! And prawn heads - don't get me started about how good prawn heads can be.
It is actually a quite common Western delicacy as well, most notably in northern parts of Europe and Australia. Typically smelt or similar small fry. The bones and skin make for a great crunch.
