Was with my boyfriend for over a year, lived together and had all the plans for the future worked out. He came home from work, packed his stuff and left. However, I couldn’t be happier! I get to finally dress up and go out without feeling like he won’t like what I wear and I also just get to spend my money on new consoles and live in my room like a hermit!
Sorry for the depressing post, don’t have anyone else to talk to other than the weird people I play online with! Edit: Thank you all so much for your support! To answer loads of people’s questions as once as I can only type so fast.... I have a ps3, Xbox 360, GameCube, gameboy advance and DS. I don’t play PC as I don’t have a computer or laptop capable of playing the games I want. My favourite games are Bioshock, The Last of us, Zelda, Mario... and a hell of a lot more. Lastly.... yes that means I’m single!

If you want game all the time then you might be boring to actual people.

Just make sure to dedicate some attention to them. They’re probably very excited to have you - at least mine would be.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You said you had to move, but also he packed up and moved out. Confused.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We rented together but neither of us wanted to stay

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So what you're saying is.. you're single *A murder of screetching men flocks*

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

That’s literally what has happened in my inbox haha I’ve had to turn of notifications

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Lmao, I feel bad for you! I hope you do find someone better in the future (preferably not from Imgur)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(Hopefully not from imgur)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't think it matters one way or the other. From time to time we see those "we met on imgur" posts.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What? You moved in together within a year of having a relationship? Don't you think you skipped ahead a couple of important steps?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Btw what games do you play?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’ve been there OP, better to lose someone that doesn’t realize what they have in you. If you wanna talk or hear bad jokes hit me up.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well... A relationship is about compromise. Play games and do other stuff.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Girl....i don't know who you are..but i will find you..and i will marry the hell out of you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Come find me!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Soooo you're single?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

Hell yeah I am!

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

The important question is are you ready to mingle? Honestly mingling might be overrated

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I already am!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the best part of my on call weekends; can't go anywhere, just play games and wait for the phone to ring, and get paid for it!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What? You’re so lucky! If I could get paid to do that then it’d be a dream come true!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Should I mention it all turns into OT?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

OT?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

overtime, so i get 1.5x my normal rate

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Lucky! Haha whenever I do overtime it’s the same rate of pay!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This definitely screams like a "Way more to the story than we've been told" type of situation.

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

No it really isn’t, he left as he wanted to party and I moved out to my grandparents as I couldn’t afford the house by myself....

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Just seems odd. Are you two very young?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Well I’m 21 he’s 20

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah yeah, settling down with a dude at 20 is rough. Mentally he's just hitting 17.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

Yeah I agree so it’s a mistake I made and don’t intend to make again!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I was lucky enough to marry a fellow gamer. Don't settle for anyone unless they make you feel okay to be you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I won't be sorry for the breakup cause it sounds like you're better off without the jerk. Congrats, and enjoy your freedom!

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 9

You know sometimes people break up with people cause their so's are jerks too. No need to patronize people.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Uh I'm not patronizing anyone. OP seems legitimately happier without an SO who left just so he could go out and party, so good for them.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 10

You called the guy a jerk. She didnt even care they broke up, so it sounds like he realized they didn't even like each other before she did.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I called him a jerk because he sounds like a jerk to ME. Not patronizing, just stating my own view.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

But hey, this is Imgur, so let's all just get butthurt for no actual reason.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

My girlfriend doesn't like playing video games, but she likes to watch me play. I think I found a unicorn based on these comments

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My wife games with me... That's right. I said wife.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So you’re single?!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You game all the time? I'm sorry, that's marriage material and it sounds like he just doesn't understand you, lol.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Console peasant... But i still approve :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

/a/bDyct

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Uh, you could talk to your grandparents and hang out with them a bit. They won’t be here forever. Show some gratitude, maybe.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 11

I do hang out and show them gratitude, I cook for them every day and I take them out shopping every 2 days. I game in the evenings.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

You're good people.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My wife is like an alarm clock. When she glares at me I know it is time for bed. (she's always right)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would you kindly be my girlfriend?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Single? Well in that case *winky winky extravaganza*

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Recently helped a friend move out in a very similar situation. It can be surprisingly good to get rid of that "responsibility" for a while.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plenty of weird people here, too. *Brushes imaginary frog from shoulder*

9 years ago | Likes 227 Dislikes 11

It’s the frog kid!

*eats said imaginary frog* Speak for yourself weirdo.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh I know, but I don’t have to hear your mums screaming down the headset when it’s bedtime ????

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

Not with that attitude you don't.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha roasted

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Congrats on the dick pics!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read the first sentence thought you was my ex

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wanna game together and ignore each other?

9 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 1

I want to ignore you guys too!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like perfection!

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

We could start a ... flat share? English has no word for Wohngemeinschaft? Anyway, I'd happily cook, if someone else does the dishes.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Room mates?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More like flat mates (everyone has their own room). But Wohngemeinschaft is also a legal person (for the lease contract and such).

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aint no WG like an imgur WG

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The relevance is so real here. I love to game, but I always get nervous and anxious that my girlfriend is annoyed by it.

9 years ago | Likes 568 Dislikes 5

My boyfriend games and I sit and watch him on skype or watch his stream. If I get to bored I mention it and we watch netflix together.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get annoyed sometimes but have learned to give my BF time to do his own thing . I just do something else .

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, my girlfriend is okay with it and even supports it, but I feel a bit guilty anyway...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife loves when I'm gaming. She gets to watch shows and YouTube videos that annoy me without me being able to hear it.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Nubs. Haha, she did really like what she saw of The Witches, so maybe I'll do another run of that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hard to find a middle ground. Even if your SO isn't a gamer you can always try and trick them into a game you know they'll enjoy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't work here. She loved Mario Party as a kid so I bought her MP9 when it launched. Still wrapped 5 years later.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe try getting the version she played when she was a kid, for nostalgia or something.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found getting older systems works best for this because it's what you started with so it might spark the same intrest in them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had same problem from the other angle: bf who wouldn't game around me bc he felt like I would be annoyed, even tho I asked to watch...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My ex gf had stories about her ex literally peeing into soda bottles while gaming, so whenever I got nervous talking about gaming with her.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm thinking that he might be in a minority there though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"If you love him, let him game."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should date OP

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha some heroes don't wear capes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah it’s a crap feeling but I’m so happy now that I have this freedom!

9 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 2

Being with someone without living together works for me. Just an advice for the future haha

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol we don't live together.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bet, it must be like leaving a job you thought you liked a lot. What to be done with this new found time? Lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But what games do you play?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

asking the real questions

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So you're single then?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

How 'bout some Monster Hunter? World comes out on XB1 and PS4 on Jan 26th. I'm SO HYPED for it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't it supposed to come out in March???

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, Jan 26th is the world release over all consoles.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When we started dating, my bf was always uncomfortable gaming cause he thought it was impossible for me not to mind. But heck i love watchin

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I like watching, playing, helping figure out weird puzzles. My favorite is being a deadly healer

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On the new mario, the second player is cappy (his self aware hat), we played last night while we drank and it was hella fun

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kind of Visual Novels do you play or JMMORPG? Maybe that's a crucial factor for that possible outcome...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She did like watching Final Fantasy 7-10, but the recent one she liked watching but I hated playing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My gf and I both game a lot and ignore eachother together

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I talked to mine and told her it was my hobby. She gets it. I get up early on the weekend to play and she sleeps in. I play after work too.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My gf hates when I game, but we have compromised. I get to game while my gf gets drilled by a different guy every evening! Score!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As others have said, talk with her. Even basic things like ‘game X is coming out ok for me to hermit up for a day?’ Communication wins.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Talk to her. Spending time apart is as important as spending time together.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually encourage my husband to game. We all need to relax somehow!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who's spent 15+ years feeling guilty pressure about 'too much gaming', and now I have someone who actually has their own hobbies>

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I realise all my previous relationships were parasitic in nature and not healthy whatsoever. Wait for someone who respects their 'me' time.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm really lucky that my SO loves gaming as much as I do. Otherwise it would be impossible

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Compromise; I️ play video games while she watches tv shows I️ can’t stand.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well if you don't pay more attention to the video games than to her, you'll probably be fine. Have to have a balance.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

There's some, uh, videos that show good ways for women to distract their gamers. Not on YouTube. The other one. Just hit P in search bar.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahahahahahhaha

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah... my ex was an ass... that still didn't work. Kudos to the gamers who are decent human beings, but it's a sore subject for me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both me and my fiancee game. I game waaaay More than he does. Try getting her to play like Kirbys epic yarn.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yep! I've yet to game with a girl who doesn't like Kirby's Epic Yarn... Then again, my gamer guy friends who give it a chance like it too.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think grabbing a Nintendo console might be the answer here lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Talk to her about it. If she’s a good fit for you, she’ll be fine with your hobby as long as you give her attention too.

9 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 1

I try to do everything as well balanced as possible. I've been thinking about asking her if she wants to do a stream once a week with me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bf and I have side by side ps4. We play multiplayer destiny and cod. Great date night that pays for itself

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Better yet, get some fun co-op games and have her join!

9 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 0

^this. Babe helped me set up a steam account and now not only do I understand the fervent love for gaming but I get to play with him

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's exactly what I did. Got a Wii, started playing stuff together. Been married almost 9 years now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This! We discovered pretty quick that she likes to game as well, so I've got a gamergirl now!

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Need more couch co-op options! We live together and only have one tv and ps4 :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the only game that works at the moment is Dungeon Punks. She has super tiny hands, so the D Pad on the PS4 doesn't hurt as much.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Enter the Gungeon!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yesss

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Castle crashers is hilarious to play together my gf and me get hammered and play this all the time

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am somewhat a gamer, not super awesome one. I'm also in grad school, so there's no time. Bf plays while I do hw, seems kinda unfair lol

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's only unfair if he's not contributing equally to the relationship.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not really unfair. I love him to bits. It just feels unfair lol

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0
