What kind of Battletech post we talking about here?
Also my husky used to *LOVE* meeting cows. Like she would get how a K-Pop fan gets meeting their favorite singers level of hyped

Something I didn't realize until this moment (even though it is logical, just never really thought about it), cows swim.

The original is so much better to watch too. Before tiktok got obliterated and bought out( I deleted, as soon as they said they were forced to sell) it was nice coming across his content. I'd shout out the creator but I dont remember it anymore

#12 I do wonder how many people get hurt and or die in cow pastures
sadurdaynight
I'd be more concerned about horse pastures. Cows are pretty docile. Even bulls are pretty chill unless breeding season. But horses are onery year round. And randos seem to think horses are tame and can jump into their turf for a disney moment. Lived next to a horse pasture and I'd feed them apples and carrots occasionally. And those cusses were mean to each other as it was. Every now and then an ambulance would get called for some dipshit getting bit and dragged along the barb wire fence.
theinternetkeepsmealive
Fairly often when they have a calf. They are extremely protective of their young even when it comes to farmers they're familiar with.
whywritemythesiswhenihaveinternet
not often in pastures. Usually when corralling or loading them for transport. Lots of animals + tight spaces +noise and stress = panicky 3/4+ ton beast that smashes puny humans if they aren't cognizant of best animal handling practices. It's typically 20-30 fatalities per year from cattle in the US. I recall reading a study somewhere that said the injury rate was in the 4-5000 per year range, but I can't find it now. most of those injuries and deaths could have been prevented
sjester42
Yep, and I'd be willing to put a bit of money that says even some of those deaths weren't even through panicky animals, but just one that wasn't even paying attention and accidentally slammed him into a fence. We've got a bull that you can't get in with because he's too friendly, he'll crush you just trying to climb into your lap...
NZSheeps
Can confirm. My brother was caught between a cow and a wooden fence (cow wasn't panicking, just not aware). In his words "Oww"
elbowdeepinagoose
I love cows too! I have three as pets:
ExtremeCowEnthusiast
They are precious and I love them
elbowdeepinagoose
Thank you! They make good pets if you have the space. They love to be pet and brushed… and they go nuts for a walk. They’ll literally run over and put their head in the harness.

and we know they eat plenty of fiber, so... floaters...
SantaFeSuperChief
you can't love cows and eat them too, go vegan
FanBladeFleshlight
Lol, fuck no.
iusedtodream
While I suspect that, if homo sapiens survives, we will all be vegan in 1000 years, currently we are still victims of famine and starvation so animals will continue to be a prime food source. The least we could do is not be dicks about it.
ExtremeCowEnthusiast
Ye you can, many people do love cows and eat them? I don't eat cows, because I choose not to, but I'm also not going to force that on others either. So make that statement is fundamentally unempathetic.
SantaFeSuperChief
You see how claiming to love something and paying for their torture and slaughter might seem a little hypocritical, no?
ExtremeCowEnthusiast
I feel thats a bit of a strawman there friend. People can enjoy meat and also acknowledge that the meat industry is deeply unethical. Realistically speaking, eating meat isn;t so much of an issue, since we are omnivorous creatures. That said, the amount we eat is more than we were evolved to consume. Meat was originally an opportunity thing, something we could eat when we could hunt. I think hunting for meat is also fine, such is nature?
ExtremeCowEnthusiast
That said, if you want to convert people to veganism, guilt tripping and attacks will scarcely work. Though that holds same for many opposing points of view. If you make people feel attacked, they are more likely to think you are wrong and be less receptive.
