... I can't help but feel we should have done more. Voting isn't enough anymore (never was I guess) so where to next? -My take: put Democracy itself on the table, fix any laws that erode our democratic principles & restore democracy to what it once was, that'll make the playing field more democratic & 'equal'. In short, make Democracy itself an election issue!

#8 Wowwwww... B.O.B.! Haven't seen that in so long. Loved that movie as a kid, though Maximilian was terrifying.

#17 I wouldn't mind a new flick. But it would have to keep the camp.

#49 this scene in Labyrinth with the crazy detachable body part creatures disturbed me as a kid. Thinking back now that was my first experience of body horror.
LordKitchenersValet
The Jim Henson Workshop--and power to every one of the artists working in the trenches there--were focused on showing off how to accomplish insanely difficult feats of muppetry.
Even if it doesn't make sense.
Sometimes this led to "why am I watching this?" (the answer? "It's a neat trick!") Animation did the same thing, often, back when it was harder.

Even the thinnest sheet of insulation, maybe some of that packing closed cell foam that comes on a roll, would go such a long fucking way here. Stuck especially between the pants and the box.

Holy crap, Star Frontiers! My brother and I played that a bunch back in the day.
Casually
You can have Larry Elmore illustrate something other than D&D but it will still be recognizable as his artwork.
Casually
#12 answers nicely when Star Wars went woke.
MCNewYorkLives
...how is Star wars woke and how is it different from before?
Casually
It is no more woke than ever before. It was always woke. There are people complaining that it is now woke because they do things like having women be the main hero or people having two moms.
MCNewYorkLives
Ahh. Ok..I misread the comment and thought YOU were one of those "people complaining that it is now woke" sorry
VeganFeministFlatEarther
i appreciate the sentiment here, but I'm not sure I can trust the source. Lucas is *NOTORIOUS* for completely making up and bullshitting information about the original production of Star Wars constantly. He's an extremely unreliable source of information.
Casually
That may be, but even if you just look a the movies it is a bunch of male humans (with a British accent) oppressing a diverse group of heroic men and women from different races.
RedTwoX
It's not tough to find interviews with him from the 80s, before "Jedi" came out, pointing out the Rebels were like the Viet Cong and the Empire was like America. I can't do it right now, but maybe later I can grab one or two and swing back by.
RedTwoX
Well, I sit corrected. I can't find either or the interviews I remember watching on YouTube. There are lot of more recent ones, but the ones I remember George didn't have any grey hair yet. I can do some more digging this week end.
TheNonSequiturFairy
#1 I think someone's definition of "weirdness" is drastically different than most.

#35 Holy shit, STAR FRONTIERS?! Jesus, that's a deep cut. You've made me miss my Dralasite engineer.

I came to the comments hoping I wasn't the only old, old school nerd in here. My first ttrpg experience as a kid was Star Frontiers. I was a Vrusk because where else was I going to be able to be a ten-limbed centaur bug?

Avilan1972
...Ah yes, the constant looking down on people who "do thinks for likes" while hoping to get many upvotes.
Flwrchld77
Sharing your opinion in the comments on Imgur, where the upvotes are only to show how many people agree or disagree with you, is a far cry from fishing for likes and engagement on your monetized Instagram that further pushes people to your other monetized platforms.

#16 Early terminators came to the past to do reconnaissance before sending their higher-end future models to carry out the final missions.
Casually
One of the things that bothers me is they talk about how Terminators were meant as infiltration units but have also mentioned that they weigh 400 pounds. It would be real easy to set up a scale of sorts for people to pass a basic test.
Avilan1972

#1 how is dancy like a stripper in a common leia outfit now considered "your weirdness" basic bitches out here not realizing how basic they are
Shiznit007
Took me watching it a few times to realize I can scroll up. And then I scrolled up really fast. Got to the end and then went right back to the beginning
LordKitchenersValet
My first serious relationship was with a basic gal who was convinced she was "such a geek" because she checked her email more than seven times a week.
FTUG
I watched it once without listening to the music and thought oh she is dancing to some star wars music which makes it weird. Then switched on the audio and realized what a basic bitch video take this was becasue she was listening to club grinding music.
CraftyGiant
Terrible club music*
Like really really low tier club music...
Hypothesist
what if she does it at Wendy's also?
queernosaur
Oh my god I know, it's truly so cringe. Everyone knows you're just hoping to show off your hot body, which is completely fine, no need to make up a dumb narrative
Clayman8
Their job is dancing in front of a phone, im pretty sure basic is out the window at this point and its already "digging mines" level of low effort. Its weird how this just turns me off more than anything else because of how bland and commonly generic it is.
Like good for them if it works but...idk...at least try a bit more to be original?

Which is perfect, because this way not only do you get to objectify her, you ALSO get to demean her! Its your lucky day!
thedarkcanuck
If a woman invites you to look at her ass, you won't oblige her?
OlksPolks
Sorry but she is objectifying herself there no?
RetiredLaserMan
and quite the nice ass it is!
InfocalypseRising
I'm convinced people are just copying the words from other memes and not even thinking about what they mean, and slapping them on top of whatever "look at me" content they were going to post anyway
MCNewYorkLives
Yup. It's how we got "POV:" content that utilizes multi camera cuts and not a single POV shot.
IMakeLotsOfReferencesAndRemakes
"POV" is not the same as "POV shot" which is a film term that does not mean exclusively first person itself. POV is a stupid addition to any meme because it adds nothing to it ever. Delete it from ANY meme that uses it from the "wrong" uses to the "right" uses removing it changes nothing. Please let it die from every meme everywhere. Just like we let the "Nobody: Me:" meme die for the same reasons.
wabitgirl
Nobody:
Me: Wait, this meme is dead?

I came down to the comments to say this...
Where is the weirdness? This is just a skinny 20 something who went on Amazon and bought a $30 slave Leia costume, you don't even have to try to get those anymore.
Back in my day the 12 geeky 20 something women who attended nerd cons were making their slave leia costumes by hand out of scraps they found in CAVE! and a Jo-ann fabrics and the adult toy shop/stripper boutique around the corner!
themuffulettaisalsoaverygoodsandwich
i am standing on your grass and it is making you nuts.
HashMaster9k
I had to make one of those for my ex-wife when we were together— I molded the brass bustier cage on an old Bra of hers with clay, then we borrowed some theatre dept silicone mix to make the mold. Once we had a mold and a destroyed old bra, used SO MANY hot glue sticks to make the cage, which was in turn painted brass and fabric glued to a new bra. This took us MONTHS at age 24 in 2005. Turns out she just needed to wait another 2 decades to buy one premade off the internet's "largest bookstore".

HufflePuffPuff
I’m not cosplay Tony Stark
TheBigBadBonerBiter
Also nerd shit has been vogue for years now, no one is weird for dressing up as Star Wars characters anymore.
MySushi
It is practically a major religion now, like Star Trek and likely going to overtake Christianity and Islam by the turn of the century, as loosely predicted in Futurama. More like Nowarama, amirite?

Any idea where I can find this cave?

VikingsAreNinjaPirates
Can we decide if Leia's costume is misogynist or not? Half of women seem to think it is while the other half make it their first cosplay. (Then there's the third half with the ability to experience nuance and think if you CHOOSE to wear it, it isn't sexist. Leia didn't get to choose but the cosplayers do. But nuance doesn't exist on the internet.) I need the internet to tell me what my opinion is so i don't get canceled.
OlksPolks
Allright from now on your opinion is this: women can wear whatever they want, and not all women have to have the same opinion about these kinds of things. We are individuals after all.
trigonman3
themuffulettaisalsoaverygoodsandwich
well let's not discourage them. geez man, what wouldn't you complain about? and i say that with love.
HamSlamwich
Sorry dude we gotta discourage that shit. Some of us are actually weird, and ya'll normies with your stolen weirdo valor still look at me funny when I'm arguing with a duck or whatever.
So yeah fuck this basic bitch "ooh look how weird I am trolling for attention online". Huge "I'M A STAR WARS" vibe.
themuffulettaisalsoaverygoodsandwich
maybe you should spend less time arguing and more time listening to the duck.
HamSlamwich
My man if the duck talks back that becomes a different mental issue.
