Cause you can suck the fruit of the my loom.

Because once you pop, you can't stop.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because you can't just eat one, pair.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don’t try on my potato chips, but I have tried on every undie I have ever considered buying.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pringles?

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Can't say I've had either come in resealable packages.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cause once you open a bag of potato chips and try them, you can’t put them back.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Chips can go stale forcing you to buy more, clothes do not. That is why.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because assholes at the store open the packages to look at the sock and underwear.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well, there is no law forbidding you to use those resealable packages for your potato chips.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I mean. You can easily just take a few sealable bags and putting chips in them. If its big enough you can fit the bag itself.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ever shit yourself on a long hike, run, car trip etc... Need something to seal it up for disposal

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree, it's weird. Women's undergrunds don't come resealable. Why are mens so precious? However, to compare to potato chips is ridiculous

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Japan they do. Blame your barbaric government that wants you to eat whole bags of saturated fats, get heart disease and need the system.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

And in Europe 30g for bag (1 oz). We also have soda can of 150 ml (half of the normal size)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From a logistics point of view, the air prevents the crushing of the chips once in a box

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hy-Vee's (grocery chain in the midwest) store brand chips do. It's money.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What brand underwear comes in resealable bags?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya why? I gotta know now!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pringles

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Undies do because people need to open them to see how big they are and stores figured out they won’t sell if they look opened so they added

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The zipper. They don’t use them on chips because they require a softer more permiable plastic that doesn’t keep the chips crispy

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This, but people still rip open packages of socks and underwear that have the zipper. People are jerks.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Per unit cost

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You know why

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I do..money

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Europe you can find 30g for bags (1 oz), any brand. We also have 150ml soda cans (half of the normal size)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because they want you to eat all of it in one go. If you can reseal them you can do portion control and buy fewer.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks captain obvious ?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Have you ever put on rancid underwear?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

v

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read that as “Spocks and underwear...” at first.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Me too

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hyvee grocery stores sell resealable potato chips

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Found the undercover Hyvee marketing agent

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shhhhhhh

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Chip makers want you to eat the whole bag quick so you'll buy another?

7 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 2

Planned obsolescence

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s absolutely fucking right mother fucker

7 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Because if the bag were resealable the chips would last longer and they would not sell as many.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or just buy an entire cart full

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That doesn't explain why you can reseal a package of socks. It is really a useful feature?

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

My guess is how they're manufactured. Machines make and seal Doritos, but typically clothes use a lot of labor.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So potential customers can open the package at the store to feel the softness of the cotton before making their purchase. It promotes sales.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seal in the stench if you return it? I can't see any other reason.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

4 words, planned obsolescence

7 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 14

That's two words, three and a number if you count the whole sentence.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of perishable food items...? I dont think that term applies here.

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

You’re right. Better terms would be ‘Faster Re-consumption’ as chips are considered an impulse purchase. P.O. better matches white goods 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Which are big long-term purchases like TVs, Cars and washing machines. Phones arguably match this category now.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of the more vile human constructs if ya ask me.

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

I see that all the time in my industry. It’s messed up. Parts for power equipment only have to be supplied for 7 years. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Then the manufacture can discontinue parts and now you have to buy a new machine. Husqvarna is notorious for this. Avoid their stuff. 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"lifetime supply of oil"

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm confused, what has planned obsolescence here? The chips? The socks? The bags?

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yes

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm torn. That's three words and a number, but it's also a number and a word referencing two words... And I think you need a : in there...

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

In total, the post itself is four words. {Four, words, planned, obsolescence}

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great observation. I actually meant to write it as a semi joke, at first I was going to write "one word", but for some reason chose 4!

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Should have went with 20!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh I dug the joke, which was why I wanted to highlight it. Cognative dissonance for the win!
