This is a serious conversation between my husband, MIL, and myself (although I chose to stay quiet in the group chat)
I just wanted a link I could copy and paste to her to show her that the internet seems to unanimously agree that she is being a major asshole about this, but apparently proofreading your posts before submitting is against the rules, and I got banned for being AI.
I've been posting stories to reddit for 5 years, with a couple of them getting removed by sweaty mods from time to time.
Since I took the time to write it out, I want to posted it, somewhere..so I came to imergurd for the archives
This was my favorite comment before the post got nuked.

They fired me for not showing up to shift when I was busy...being in HS English class. I was always salty about never having gotten paid for that training week lmao.

You get more peace from NOT giving her your money than if you do because she will keep trying to milk you. It's legally in your name and that's all there is to it. I'm not willing to prove it, but I guarantee my mom has mine written down in a probably slightly hidden file in their house. She wouldn't ask me, she'd just go look for herself. Whether I'd agree to give her half would depend upon the recipient's relationship with her (e.g. how nice she usually is), how she approached the expectation, and how well off each of you are. I don't know any of those factors and so cannot draw any conclusions. My personal circumstances have clearly been very different.

Unless they changed it, you don't need a SSN to view unclaimed property. It does help in making sure you have the correct person if they have a common first name though. The SSN is only required to claim the $. Source: I went on the site and checked for all of my family members and I don't know any of their socials. My brother had a couple hundred bucks that I told him about (not expecting a cent, just so he could have what belongs to him).

#8 I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, but, I did grow up around one. If you give them ANYTHING they could potentially sue you for the rest and claim that was a payment; probably even a gift card, although, again, I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. I don't think MIL has any claim really but they might try to go to small claims if their pursuing shit this much to start with. No idea what happens then, maybe judge throws it out maybe not?

I've been accused here on imgur of posting AI copypasta because my posts read a little formal & stilted at times. But that's because it's my second language. I learned it mostly from books and I'm not particularly versed in casual conversation. I also look up phrases when I'm not 100% certain of my English (e.g., when I can't recall if it's supposed to be "case in point" or "point in case"). So some sentence fragments may indeed be copied from search results, but that doesn't make them LLM slop.

YMMV, but I always used underscores for _italics_ and asterisks for *bold*. (Whatsapp also uses this convention, as well as dashes for -strikethrough-). Mind you, I've been doing this since the early 90s, so this is probably a case of "old man shakes stick at cloud"...

It will start once everyone pays the cost of it. There are already announcements out there, making it very clear that the current pricing will not continue indefinitely. And once you gotta pay considerable amounts of money for bullshit results or using it for shits and giggles, its usage will cut back to a more sensible amount – which could be very dangerous for a lot of business models out there.

If only it would not drag half of the economy into the abyss along with it. On the bright side, maybe I can afford a new PC then. Current one has a few years too much on its belt for my taste. But current pricing is a very good incentive to go on a little longer as is.

I got lucky and bought a 3080 from someone cheap a couple years ago. It's good enough right now to ride things out, especially if devs start optimizing more due to the insanity of hardware pricing these days. I'm hoping for a glut of used hardware once these companies implode.

Unfortunately, the shit they use in their datacenters is not worth anything to you as an end user. That's the problem with the current direction of it all. It's not like it is just expensive. It's indeed just not available, because capacities are used for shit that can only be used in datacenters, not in your PC. I wonder how fast they can switch production cycles there, once the implosion starts.
