Entitlement has gone through the roof since COVID-19. Between people like this, the people who insist on having nuclear-powered headlights, the karens, and kevins of all strips. tailgaters. So many have seem to forgotten how to live in a civilized society.
I was on the highway this weekend, following a clueless person with a trailer. When a table (top facing the floor of the trailer) cut enough air after a bump to take off flying in my face. Thank GOD I managed to swerve and avoid it without hitting other vehicles. Anything in an open trailer should be secured you ~@!#$!@#% mrons.
This is an intersection near Washington DC. They actually changed the road so you can't do this anymore. Part of the problem was many navigation systems told people that was a legal Lane change
I-395 S exit 8C. A guy filmed people doing this over and over again to convince the local authority to change to road to make the madness stop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxCQe2xoUHo
I once missed an exit and had to drive over a toll bridge, pull into an Ikea and ask for directions, took about an hour before I could get back on track... and I'd do it again to avoid doing something as dumb as that video
They're the same people who, at the airport, irrationally cut in front of everyone to board FIRST because the airplane might leave without them or something.
In all fairness, a lot of that is from airlines charging to check bags so everyone brings a carryon bag for planes not designed to hold that many bags in the overhead bin. So many people rush on so they can get a spot in the overhead bin for their bag. Also, has to do with a lot of people having flying anxiety. Getting on the plane can help people settle a bit.
Yeah it's actually to get overhead space next to your seat, and to get comfortable so you're not standing in line for 20 minutes while everyone else settles. But why actually think about things when going with the dumbest possible conclusion is easier.
Wanting to get comfortable does not mean, or imply, thinking you're more important than everyone else. Don't be such a baby about how other people live their lives.
(intercom) currently boarding groups 1 to 6 (person in group not 1 to 6) Oh, that's not me, but I better crowd the entrance to make it harder for folks in those groups to get on board, thus slowing down the boarding process!
What the F??? I grew up in CA. I hate to say this-I don’t believe in violence as a solution. But that bad driver would be a victim on a CA freeway for a stunt like this.
Jail is a little excessive, but definitely should receive a fine, some kind of community service, and lifetime revocation of their drivers license. That maneuver is so incredibly reckless you don't get a second chance after that.
I really wish people were more comfortable with lifetime bans on driving, it's ridiculous how often accidents are caused by repeat offenders & don't even get me started on DUIs. CARS ARE FUCKING DANGEROUS, THEY AREN'T TOYS
There definitely is a disconnect with people in cars. They seem to forget how deadly a car can become in no time. But not sold of jail. But more sold on jail for this person than a pothead.
Compromise, check for mental or extenuating circumstances (emergency and next exit is 20 miles down or something). And if none of those are the case. Then felony reckless driving or equivalent. That could mean jail time or maybe not, this is why we have standard sentencing (when it's used correctly).

At least they used the turn signal, so they can't be all bad! /s

Bold of you to assume they have a driver's license, tbh. Lmao, joking ofc. But holy shit.

Prison? Naw...let him walk...
JesaraB
No impacts, so no they don't deserve prison... but a fine and potential loss of license yeah
arajad
Possibly reckless endangerment, so prison is among the options.
JesaraB
Nah, that charge wouldn't float. But there are citable offenses (not crimes) related to obstruction of traffic for going too slow.
HisBubbliness
It took me a while to figure out what they were trying to do because who the fuck in their right mind would think of doing that?

The death penalty is stupid because the appeals process costs many times more than life in prison. Instances like this are an acception.

Yeah, the truck right at the beginning cut across a lane to take the same exit.

Ive always said that bad driving stems from impatience and the inability to deal with consequences.

Often, main character syndrome, too. Despite the other vehicles, you're the only one that matters.

There's one east (Emeryville), west (SF market St) and one in Palo Alto across the Dumbarton bridge.

As I said long ago, driver's licenses are way too easily accessible. A lot of people should stay away from any vehicle.

But yeah, sure, go ahead and make yourself comfortable because you're more important than everyone else.

Wanting to get comfortable does not mean, or imply, thinking you're more important than everyone else. Don't be such a baby about how other people live their lives.
LitterBoxKing
Try spending a moment or two thinking about how your decisions affect people around you.

Getting up to get in line early does not affect anyone around you. Stop trying to be a fucking martyr over who gets on the plane first, it's pathetic.

Jail is too excessive for this. Take away their drivers license, check for mental health issues, educate them on the dangers of what they did.
