I apologize in advance for the political post/rant but in the words of Gwen Stefani, "this shit is bananas." We are traveling back in time, not to a "greater" time period in the slightest, but back to a time where women have no say in what they do with their bodies and it is absolutely frightening. I am terrified to be a woman right now.
As a mother of two tiny gremlins, I fully understand what it means to be pregnant. The emotional and physical damage it causes your body and mind is unavoidable no matter how "perfect" your pregnancy may be. Yes, it is a beautiful thing when it is wanted. Yes, it can be exciting and joyful to grow a tiny person in your body. But no fucking no it isn't something that should be forced upon anyone, period. Pregnancy isn't just a 40 week exhausting and completely tolling experience but the hormones alone literally drive you absolutely crazy and your body changes forever. I will never understand the audacity of anyone who thinks it is normal to force a woman (of any age or circumstance) to have a baby. Especially a man.
*Unpopular belief warning* Why do men think they have any say in regards to what a woman does with her body? Even when you have had consensual sex with a woman and knock her up, it is in fact her choice to go through the terrible and traumatic experience of growing a watermelon in her belly and pushing it out, not the man's choice. She consented to the sex but did not consent to pregnancy if she didn't want to be pregnant. I know some people disagree with that but you know what, a big F you to all of you who think like that. Men ejaculate into a woman. That's it. That is the extent of what they do to make babies. The birds and the bees discussion ends there with them. The woman literally does everything else there on out. I know, shocking right!? My daughter was breached and had to be literally turned in my body by the doctor, moving all of my organs all over the place before my epidural kicked in. A man couldn't even fathom that pain and has no right to force a woman to go through an experience like that. If a man in a relationship decides to leave after impregnating a woman they can. The woman cannot just pop her belly off and run off to Vegas. So again, if you have a penis, you do not have any say into what a woman should do. End of story.
Moving on, when it comes to rape or incest: what the actual fuck is wrong with people? I was raped when I was 14 years old in the stairwell of my high school on my way to math class. I was lucky to not have gotten pregnant. But if someone is telling a young girl in the same situation, that didn't want sex in the first place to then carry a rapist's baby for 10 months and then go through the emotional and physical trauma that is the reality of pregnancy, they are monsters. If your religion is telling you (or your own sick interruption of that religion) that a woman no matter her age is morally responsible for the unwanted "life" growing inside of her than your moral compass is broken and you should seek physiological help immediately because you are in fact a crazy person.
Seperation of religion and state: We are supposed to live in a country with religious freedoms. What you believe in has nothing to do with what others believe. Again the audacity of people shoveling their shit beliefs onto others is mind boggling and I will never understand it. No woman is excited by abortions (and if they are they also should seek physiological help). It is not something that a woman decides lightly. It is an emotionally destructive and damaging experience all around. Liberals aren't skipping hand in hand toward abortion clinics like, "Oopsy doodles pregnant again! Silly me! Guess it's a typical tuesday ready to rip this baby out of me." No. No one does that. That belief needs to end. Woman have to make the beyond difficult decision to have an abortion. I'm sure the inner conflict between what their hormones are telling them and what their brain is telling them is an immense struggle and traumatic enough. They don't need strangers screaming that they are going to hell on their way to making one of the most difficult decisions of their life. Yes, in this country we have freedom of speech but that freedom doesn't exempt you from being an asshole.
You cannot be against contraception and also against abortions. You cannot be pro-life but yet against support for the mother and child after the child is born. You cannot be against universal healthcare and then force an uninsured woman to have a baby. You cannot ban abortion because of the protection of "life" growing inside of her and not care about the potential risks for the already existing life aka the woman. The hypocrisy and extreme contradictions when it comes to pro-life beliefs is unfathomable.
Could you image if we banned male masturbation because of the millions of potential lost babies every ejaculation!? Could you image if we forced men to get vasectomies because something we've privately practiced in our own sick religion calls for it? If it is God's will to have a baby is it then God's will to keep your dick from working (ED) and you are interfering with his will by taking a little blue dick boosting pill? *side note I have heard backlash to a similar comment on here comparing it to telling a cancer patient not to take pills for their illness but that is the whole point- to showcase how crazy it is to say we cannot interfere medically with God's will. To let a sick cancer child die is the same as telling a woman she has to throw her whole life aside to give birth to a baby she does not want because it is "God's will."*
If men were the one's having the babies or if their dicks for some weird evolutionary reason during intercourse for procreation hung more loose as a repercussion or if they had to have contractions in the slightest, abortion would be done in drive thru dunkin donuts because they would be so common. I know that is all a stretch and completely hypothetical but I hope you see the point there.
If any of these dickless fart waffles (pro-lifers) have a daughter who is raped and impregnated and still is all about their own flesh and blood keeping that forever tainted combination of cells (that will grow up to be completely self hating if they learn about the reason they exist), than again they need some serious physiological help. And by the way even if it isn't a worst case scenario (rape or incest) and if a woman simply is not ready, made a mistake by not using contraceptives (also the man's mistake for not wrapping his own responsibility), had a failed contraceptive that ended in pregnancy, has hopes and dreams that don't involve now or ever having kids, is too young and afraid, is too old and afraid, wants a career, doesn't have the financial means to provide for a child, or whatever the reason may be, it is HER motherfucking choice.
I got pregnant when I was 23 years old while on the pill (taken correctly everyday at 12 pm and never missing a pill) with my long time boyfriend (now husband) right before I was signing up to go back to college to finish my degree. I had a choice. I chose to have my son and not go back to school. I wouldn't go back in time and change anything because my son (and now also my daughter) are my whole life but I had a choice. That is the important part. I could have chosen to get an abortion. I could have gone back to school but decided motherhood was my own personal path. Even with all of that I would never place judgement on a woman for making a very different choice because that is her own life and decisions. Not my place. Not any of our places. Her own path.
Adoption is also not the answer and to everyone using adoption as their prolife argument: have you ever been to an orphanage or foster home? Have you ever spoken with a child/teenager/adult who was given up by their parents? Do you understand the trauma and abandonment issues that are intertwined in every adopted person's mind? Do you understand the emotional damage that is left behind in the mother's heart for giving up her child? If pro lifers with adoption as their argument are ignorant to the reality of adoption they should educate themselves about the reality before speaking. And if they do have experience with adoption and wish that heartache upon other individuals they are simply assholes. My husband is adopted and was very lucky to be adopted at 3 months old by a loving family. Even with that being his life story, he is still very much pro-choice. His birth mother was 17 and pregnant due to a one night stand. She was an irish catholic and did not have the option for abortion. His comment to adoption instead of abortion is he wouldn't have known the difference if his mother had the choice because he wouldn't exist. He has always battled with anger his whole life because he was abandoned by his birth mother and wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. It is not an alternative to abortion.
Even if abortion is illegal it will not stop it from happening. It will just be the blood of many women dying from back alley abortions on the "pro" lifers hands. They are just taking the safety out of the procedure. And if they have no compassion for a women's life because she is "sinful" in getting the abortion how PRO life can they really be?
My favorite comparison I have seen so far online is the reaction to wearing a mask during the pandemic to help save lives and it hindering one's freedoms. Same people for the most part telling women they don't have ownership of their own bodies are out their shouting about their freedoms being taken away by having to wear a simple face covering. The biggest of oofs to that.
Thank you for reading my rant and allowing me to vent my many frustrations. I am in fact "triggered" by this topic and it doesn't make me a snowflake for having normal human emotions toward my freedoms as a woman being taken away. I know people will downvote this and you have the freedom and right to do so because you don't have to like everything you hear/read but you have that choice as an individual. We all have ownership of our own lives and our own beliefs. We all get one life so let's stop messing about with others and just focus on our own shit.
SnakeonaSegway
TLDR: Read the goddamn article! @OP explains this shit in a way even I, male, not English, can comprehend. And she's right!
beegobuzz
Your pregnancy may go perfectly, but the birth may go very, very wrong.
aerodynamit3
Dude looks like he drowns puppies for fun.
Devylin
Pro-control. If they were pro-life they'd care about universal health care, helping the poor, fixing the right-wing loons with their guns...
INeverWaitForIt
"No, no, you see, pro life is about being able to *punish* people. What you're talking about is mildly inconveniencing me."
OctopusStinkhorn
Ricketts also wonders why no young people want to stay in Nebraska.
BlairT1
Don’t argue with these maniacs. Vote them into obscurity. This is all we can do. No reason, no talking, nothing. Make them gone.
sleepinggreenidea
That only works if non-conservative people are willing to move to, and stay in, their constituencies. Many aren't.
NeverDownvoteMelBrooks
"I believe" isn't justification for legislation. But then, that's why they say "state's rights" and fight against "voter's rights".
BaelKor
The Republican Party is pro-rape. This is part of their end-goal of getting rid of rape laws.
DarkSock
I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure that bald bastard Ricketts will never get pregnant & never have to carry a baby to term… so…not his call?
RootMeanSqr
Well, if he doesn't want an abortion he still has the right not to get one.
greenf1sh
As a dude, people that argue against abortion are a valid reason for abortions.
andthentheresmaude
If I wanted the government in my uterus, I’d fuck a Senator. But I’d never fuck that loser.
unluckyandbored
If they were pro-life they'd support universal healthcare, ban guns, and fight climate change.
UserNamesArentEasy
They are pro-birth not pro-life. Pro-life would mean they care about women and children too.
actuallynotirate
Anti-choice
stingingnettlegurlL7
And pro-death during situations that are required to save the life of the mother.
winkyroomba
Not even pro-birth. They’re forced-birth. They need to mind their own uterus and stay away from mine.
Richarmeleon
They are just anti-women. The only pros of overturning RvW are in the eyes of sexists and deviants.
elixer477
And they would have gun restrictions. How is it that with all the mass shootings the GOP could care less about the lives lost?
SecretlyASquirrel
Yeah so, every male baby is given the snip at puberty and it is reversed when they have proven they are a contributing member of society
bardock
Their only actual beliefs are humiliating women at every turn and creating hordes of easily indoctrinated children
Kazpur81S
What about medical emergencies like ectopic pregnancy….?
ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs
Not to worry, according to them you can just move the embryo to the uterus. Maybe with some super glue to make sure it sticks
Xalaqia
Cruelty is the point, so .....
Kerdnerl
this is exactly why trumps MAGA campaign worked. I joked for years, saying "again? when was it great before?" but this cements it. this is
Kerdnerl
what they consider great, this is what they consider the system working as intended, this is what they consider making america great again
JackingMeHoff
The GQP must be aborted out office. Vote Blue!
Theea
US is such a shithole
themuttonisniceandlean
I am so glad my 11 year old student in TX was able to get a safe & legal abortion before this nonsense.
twatburglar
Go and vote people! Get these fucktards out of office
CodyWeber
Fuck dime-store Lex Luthor
ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs
A man frothing at the mouth to pull this shit. What a shock
Wolfshead009
If they were really so worried about life, blood and organ donations would be mandatory.
Profscrews
Wtf is wrong with these people
Tachanka117
They are idiots?
LoreLord
Nothing. They're trying to make more uneducated, poor, angry voters. And their policy works
caerulakid
*looks at the dude’s picture* I got some theories.
kittykaroshi
I genuinely believe they are protecting their own. The fellow rapists. Only someone who would inflict that on someone else would protect it
Rodenbeard
They're conservatives.
Evergrey
Christian Nationalism. They hate women and want to control them and punish them for having any autonomy, or trying to have any.
INeverWaitForIt
A reduced or complete lack of ability to empathize with anyone outside of their immediate person.
Cats2cats
Pass a bill that all men get vasectomies.
Evilbeavers
As a man, I'm game.
Tachanka117
...............why? I am a man and I support the right to abortion....
CorGoBrrrr
Tachanka117
why should I get a vasectomy cause others are being assholes
FajitaPrinceofAllMexicans
He's putting into perspective for men how the abortion ban is like a vasectomy requirement.
Cats2cats
Why should women be denied choice because others are being assholes?
CosplayComet
"I believe life begins at conception." Yeah, but you also believe that we all descended from 2 people from a magic garden.
MushroomFiend
See, this is an example of increasingly radical political positions. Seems they're even willing to throw out IVF too.
CosplayComet
Because they're C.R.A.Z.Y. - and no one is really trying to STOP them...
aticklepickle
Yes exactly! So frustrating.
Btch128
Men don't get hit with child abandonment when they skip out on the pregnant woman either.
deaththeunholy
If that's so, let's get health insurance, life insurance, alimony, tax breaks, paid leave for Dr visits, and the whole works at conception
BluePaladin42
Not that the Bible should actually have any say in it anyway, but the Bible says he's wrong.
ordaen
very punchable face on this guy
CosplayComet
I volunteer!!
heywoodjabme
And Trump won.
HarryDresdenIsMySpiritAnimal
And even the same book states that there were other people besides those two.
Tumescentpie
And no they fucking don't. Child support doesn't start at conception. It is always a lie from the right. They only argue in bad faith.
KeithSvenson
and yet.... the bible says that life begins at first breath does it not? i think someone on here siad that.
Togzilla
Citation? Would genuinely like to find that bit

ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs
Ahhh the good ol days. Where men were men and women were nothing more than walking uteri, unable to have bank accounts or vote.
SnakeonaSegway
My bff is still considered that way by the man who raped here. And he has parental rights... We're Dutch...
ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs

SnakeonaSegway
Yep, fucked up. He's still using her now 7 y/o son to stalk and harass her.
ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs
Omg.I’d try to make him somehow never come back. Cut brake lines, arsenic, 15 Ambien in a drink, just sayin
ITryToOnlyRespondInGifs
Oh and the sepsis was great too
SuperDramaticFusion
Right?! Good ol’ yesteryear! When women died of ectopic pregnancies. No wonder the conservatives are so fond of it. /s
